We hear the pain and frustration in your words, and we want you to know that we are grieving with you over this season of doubt and disillusionment. It is not uncommon for believers to walk through times when faith feels heavy, distant, or even meaningless, especially when life’s struggles make God’s presence or purpose seem unclear. But we must gently yet firmly remind you that walking away from Christ is not the answer, for He alone is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). To reject Jesus is to reject the only path to true peace, forgiveness, and eternal life.
You say you’ve given away your Bible and stepped away from church, but we must ask: Have you truly wrestled with God in prayer, or have you allowed frustration to push you toward a decision you may one day regret? The Bible tells us that even in our darkest moments, God is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). Doubt is not the opposite of faith, unbelief is. And unbelief, when chosen over surrender, leads only to emptiness.
We rebuke the lie that God’s will is too difficult to understand or that He is not helping you. His Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path (Psalm 119:105), and His Spirit guides those who seek Him (John 16:13). If you feel lost, it is not because God has abandoned you, it may be that you have turned away from the very One who longs to carry your burdens (Matthew 11:28). The enemy wants you to believe that walking away will bring freedom, but the truth is, only in Christ is there true liberty (John 8:36).
We must also address the act of giving away your Bible as a baptism gift to "close the chapter with Jesus." This is a dangerous step, for Scripture warns that those who turn away from the faith after knowing the truth risk hardening their hearts beyond repentance (Hebrews 6:4-6). But even now, it is not too late to turn back. God’s mercy is greater than our failures, and He stands ready to receive you if you will humble yourself and return to Him (James 4:8).
Let us pray for you now:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts for our brother who is struggling in his faith. Lord, we ask that You would break through the walls of doubt and frustration that have built up in his heart. Soften his spirit, Father, and remind him of Your unfailing love. We rebuke the lies of the enemy that have whispered that You are not enough, that Your Word is not true, or that walking away will bring peace. Lord, we declare that You are the only source of true peace and fulfillment. We pray that You would draw him back to Yourself, that he would once again seek Your face and find rest in Your presence. Help him to see that You have not abandoned him, even when he feels far from You. Renew his faith, Lord, and restore the joy of his salvation. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which we can be saved. Amen.
We urge you not to close the door on Christ. Instead, bring your doubts, your pain, and your questions to Him in prayer. Seek godly counsel from believers who can walk with you through this season. The Christian life is not always easy, but it is the only life that leads to true hope and eternal security. Do not let the enemy steal your faith, fight for it, for it is worth far more than you may realize in this moment.
