I just need some answers

Thank you for writing so honestly and for asking for prayer. I am praying for you in Jesus name and I want to answer your question as carefully as I can.

I am a pastor, not a medical doctor, so I cannot diagnose what is causing your brain fog. Brain fog is a description, not a single disease, and it can have many different causes. Lack of sleep, stress, anxiety, depression, poor nutrition, dehydration, too much screen time, medical conditions, and other factors can all contribute. Because you have had this for four months, it is important that you see a medical doctor and describe everything you are experiencing so you can be properly evaluated. God has established healing processes in our bodies, and He often brings healing through natural means including doctors and wise care for the body. That kind of healing is still from Him. At the same time I believe God heals directly, sometimes instantly and sometimes gradually, and we can pray for both.

What I can speak to as a pastor is the part of your question about adult content. God created your brain with wonderful design. It is constantly receiving signals from your eyes and ears and other senses, interpreting them, sorting them, filing them away, and making sense of the world. When the brain is overloaded with sensual stimulation, it can become glutted with information and you can feel tired, dull, and foggy at the end of the day. That is part of how we are made.

Adult content takes that design and overloads it in a harmful way. Scripture teaches that sex belongs within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, and any sexual activity outside of that is outside of God's will. Pornography does not stay small. It has a way of taking a person captive like a drug or like alcohol. It can become a master over the mind. It tends to be progressive, requiring more and more to get the same effect, and it can hold a person in a grip that feels impossible to break on your own.

It also works on the brain by forming deep patterns. When you repeat something over and over, it creates grooves in your thinking so that the behavior becomes almost automatic. That is why relearning is harder than learning. The good news is that those patterns can be changed, but it takes intentional turning away, time, and renewal.

If you are caught in this, the way forward is not to try to manage it while continuing in it, but to turn from it completely and bring it into the light. That means repentance before God, asking Jesus Christ for forgiveness and for power to walk in a new way, and washing your mind with the Word of God. As your mind is filled with Scripture and with what is pure and true, God cleanses the filth that has been stored there. It also means taking practical steps. Cut off access completely, put safeguards on your devices, seek accountability with a mature Christian man you trust, and consider pastoral counseling. And as I said, please also talk to a doctor about the physical side of the fog you are feeling.

God knows the thought patterns that flash across your mind, even when they feel empty or confused, and He is able to heal your mind and your emotions as well as your body. He is gracious to forgive and to restore when we come to Him through Jesus.

I am praying for you now. Father, I lift this dear one to You in the name of Jesus. You see the fog and weariness that has lasted for months. Touch his body and mind and bring clarity and health. Do Your healing work, whether quickly or gradually, and guide him to the right help. I pray You will set him free from every hold that pornography has on his mind. Forgive him, cleanse him, and wash his thoughts with Your Word. Give him strength to turn away completely, to walk in purity, and to find new patterns of thinking that honor You. Fill him with Your peace and give him hope. Amen.

Please do not stay isolated with this. Reach out to a trusted pastor or counselor and to a doctor soon, and keep seeking the Lord daily in prayer and in Scripture.
