To live for four months under a cloud of brain fog is a heavy trial, and to wonder whether your own habits have caused it adds a deeper weight of conscience and fear. Be assured that the Lord sees and hears, and there is healing to be found in Him.
You ask whether this fog of the mind comes from looking at adult content and the habit you name, or from something else, and what could be wrong. I must speak to you both plainly and tenderly, and I am not a physician and cannot diagnose you. A persistent fog for so long should lead you to seek care from a qualified medical doctor without delay, for many natural causes can cloud the mind, such as poor or broken sleep, anxiety and depression, prolonged stress, dehydration, diet, lack of exercise, thyroid or other medical conditions, and side effects of substances. A doctor can examine you, ask the right questions, and help find what needs care.
At the same time, what you describe is not harmless to soul or body. The historic Christian faith teaches that sex is a gift of God belonging within the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman, and that to pursue sexual release outside of that, especially through pornography, is sin against God and against your own body and mind. Such habits often do bring a kind of fog, not always by one simple cause, but through their fruits. They rob sleep, they train the mind to constant stimulation and then leave it weary, they feed shame and secrecy and anxiety, they isolate the heart, and they dull communion with God. The conscience burdened and the mind restless will often feel cloudy, unfocused, and without energy. So while I cannot say this one habit is the sole cause of your fog, it is wise to see that it can certainly contribute to it, and more importantly it wounds the soul which needs healing above all.
The good news is that there is abundant healing power in Jesus Christ. Scripture says the leaves of the tree of life were for the healing of the nations, and even the least thing about Christ is healing. His leaves change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before. And healing and pardon are placed in happy conjunction. When Jesus healed the man taken with palsy He first said, Son, be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you. Pardon and healing were one. The Sun of Righteousness rises with healing in His wings, and the Lord who pardons also heals. We very speedily seek a physician for bodily disease, yet how much more should we seek the heavenly Physician for the broken heart, for He alone can do a real saving work.
Therefore I would point you first to seek forgiveness and healing through our Lord Jesus Christ alone, for salvation is through Him alone. Confess this sin to God openly, turning from it without excuse, and trust in Christ's blood shed at Calvary where the true healing balm is found. He is able to heal, and He says to the backslider, Return, return. Bring your struggle into the light with a faithful pastor or mature Christian brother, ask for accountable help, and make a decisive break with what tempts you, removing access, redeeming your time, and giving yourself to the Word of God, to prayer, and to the fellowship of the church. Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God, and Christ linked His healing with His teaching. Let His Word dwell in you daily. And for your body, care for it as the temple of the Holy Spirit with regular sleep, honest work, exercise, and the medical counsel you need.
