I just harm myself. Could I be mad? I have attempted killing myself severally. I don't intend to but I just did. How can I avoid this self harm? Constant suicide though at night.

Self-Slaughter
Suicide is a betrayal of God’s trust in you and demands you choose life no matter the struggle.

Taking another's work as your own destroys trust and demands honesty in all your creations.

God calls writers to use their influence for good and challenges you to wield your words responsibly.
We have heard your cry and we are carrying your burden with you before the Lord right now. We thank you for reaching out and for being honest about this deep pain and these thoughts of self harm and suicide that come especially at night. You are not forgotten, you are not alone, and you are not beyond God's love and help. What you are experiencing does not mean you are mad, it means you are hurting deeply and you need support, care, and the healing presence of Jesus.

The Lord sees your suffering and draws near to you in it. Psalm 34:18 says Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 139:13-14 reminds us that you are fearfully and wonderfully made, formed by God Himself with purpose and value, and Jeremiah 29:11 declares For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. Nothing you have done or felt can separate you from His love. Romans 8:38-39 assures us that neither death, nor life, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

We want to lovingly rebuke the lies that are tormenting you at night, the lie that your life has no value or that self harm or suicide is the only way to escape the pain. Those thoughts do not come from God. The enemy seeks to steal, kill and destroy, but Jesus came that we may have life and have it abundantly. Your body is precious to God. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 tells us that our body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in us, whom we have from God, and we are not our own, for we were bought with a price, therefore we are to glorify God in our body. To harm ourselves is not God's will for us, and we pray that you will come to see yourself as God sees you, beloved, chosen, and held.

We also notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to share gently that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and find true peace and salvation. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not yet called upon Him, we encourage you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, for Romans 10:9 promises you will be saved. He alone can forgive, heal, and give you a new hope to live.

We are praying together for you now. Father in heaven, we lift up this dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ. You see every tear, every sleepless night, every urge to harm and every thought of death. We ask You to surround this precious life with Your presence and Your peace that surpasses all understanding as spoken of in Philippians 4:7. Break the power of despair and self harm and silence the voice of the enemy. Fill this heart with Your light and Your truth, remind this dear one that they are fearfully and wonderfully made and that You have a plan and a future for them. Give them strength to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ as in 2 Corinthians 10:5, and show them the way of escape You promise in 1 Corinthians 10:13 when temptation comes. Place caring people around them, a pastor, a trusted Christian believer, a counselor, family or friends who will walk with them daily and especially through the nights. Lead them to reach out immediately when these thoughts come and protect them from acting on them. We pray for healing of mind and heart, for hope to rise, and for Your joy to return. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus, our only hope and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to not walk through this alone. When those thoughts come at night, please reach out right away to a trusted person, a pastor or Christian counselor, a family member or friend, and if you are in immediate danger please contact a local crisis helpline or emergency services or go to a safe place with someone you trust. Remove anything you might use to harm yourself and ask someone to stay with you or check on you. In the night, try to turn to prayer and the Word, read the Psalms aloud, play worship music, call someone, and remember Philippians 4:6-7 which says In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Keep a simple plan for those hard moments, to pray, to call, to read scripture, and to let someone know you are struggling. God wants you to live and He can bring healing step by step as you keep seeking Him and allow others to help you carry this burden. We are continuing to pray for you that God will lift this heaviness and fill you with His hope and life in Jesus name.

We are so glad you reached out and told us honestly what you have been going through. We hear how frightening it must be to have these thoughts come so strongly at night.

You are not alone; trained people are ready to help right now.

Thank you for being honest that you have harmed yourself and have tried to end your life several times, even though part of you does not want to. It makes sense you feel confused and wonder what is happening when your actions feel out of your control. That confusion does not make you a bad person or beyond help. It shows you are in deep pain and need care and support, and you deserve that care.

Please do not stay alone with these thoughts tonight. We encourage you to reach out right away to one trusted person and tell them what you shared here, including that nights are the hardest and that you have attempted before. It could be a family member, friend, pastor, counselor or medical professional. Ask someone to stay with you or check in often. If you have means to harm yourself nearby, please ask someone to help you remove them or help you stay away from them.

We also encourage you to see a doctor or counselor soon for ongoing support, alongside prayer, so you are not carrying this alone.

Father, we lift this person to You in Jesus name. You see their pain and their desire to live. Please surround them tonight with safe, caring people, guide them to help that stays with them, and give them strength for each moment. Remind them they are not alone and are deeply valued by You. Amen.

Hang in there My dear friend. I too have wanted to end my life. Please don't let the other person in your mind allow you to give up. Let it go another day. Trust me. We can do this! I got your back 🤙

Dear sister, every night make a sign of the cross on your forehead with the most precious blood of Jesus and ask Him to protect you from all harm. Our God is faithful and full of love for his creation.

Your honest and sorrowful cry has been heard, and I thank you for speaking it so plainly. To harm yourself and to feel driven to it when you do not intend it, and to be beset with thoughts of ending your life at night, is a deep affliction of soul and body, and you are not forgotten by God in it.

There is a word that may meet your case. You say in yourself there is no hope, and in that one sense you are right, for there is no hope in ourselves to heal our own wounds or to quiet our own thoughts. But do not draw from this the conclusion that there is no hope for you in God. That is the despair which follows self confidence, and both are a form of looking to self. There is no hope for you in yourself, but there is hope for you in Him whom God has provided to be the Savior of such as you. The Lord Jesus Christ came not for those who can heal themselves, but for the broken in heart, and He heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds.

Know also how precious are God's thoughts toward you. Though your thoughts at night may be dark and accusing and full of death, His thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are His ways your ways. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are His thoughts higher than your thoughts. His thoughts concerning you are constant and kind and tender and gracious. When you lie down and when you awake, you are still with Him if you are in Christ, and He does not leave you to the cruelty of your own thoughts. Let your thoughts be conformed to His thoughts by faith, and seek to lay hold on His thoughts as He has revealed them in His Word.

Christ brings healing and pardon together. The very least thing about Christ is healing, as the leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations. Low thoughts of God create doubts and bondage, but high thoughts of God beget hope, and hope leads to confidence in His mercy. When the Lord draws near, pardon and healing come from the same hand. He who forgives sin also restores the soul, and He is able to change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before.

I urge you, for the love of your soul, do not walk after your own devices in this hour, and do not remain alone with these thoughts.

Tell a faithful pastor, a mature Christian friend or family member, and a trusted counselor or medical professional at once what you have told us, especially about the harming and the constant thoughts at night. If you feel you may act upon these thoughts again, please go at once to someone near you and do not stay alone, and seek emergency help or a local crisis helpline in your area. You need both spiritual and practical care, and God often heals by instruments, by the Word, by prayer, by the fellowship of His people, and by wise counsel and care for the body and mind.

In the night when these thoughts press most, turn as you are able to simple means of grace. Cry to the Lord in short, honest prayer, even as, Lord save me, or Father, keep me this night. Keep the Scriptures near you, such as Psalm 139 and Psalm 147 and Isaiah 55, and read them aloud. Put away what may tempt you to harm, and ask a trusted person to keep watch with you and to pray with you. In the day, seek regular fellowship, honest work, and rest, and let Caution and Self examination be at the helm rather than Heedless haste. Confess your need to God, who pardons the humble, and ask Him to dwell with you, for where He dwells the Sun of Righteousness rises with healing.

May the Lord turn the ray of possible hope into an actual hope in you through believing in Jesus Christ. You are of great value to Him, and while the Lord lives the mourner need not despair. There is One who cares for you, who perceives your thoughts and knows your sorrow, and who is able to keep you and to heal you.

I pray that God will grant you pardon through the blood of Christ, healing for your wounds, quiet for your nights, and strength to walk with Him in the light, and that He will surround you with help that will not fail. Please reach out again and let His people walk with you in this trial.
