I hurt my cat, ###

We give thanks with you for this good report and join you in praising the Lord that nothing was broken. God in His mercy has spared your cat from greater harm, and we are grateful that the inflammation could be treated and that you have clear care to follow for the next days.

It is right to abound in thanksgiving, as Scripture teaches, not only to give thanks once but with abundance for every mercy. Your gratitude honors Him who teaches us to have a gentle and humane soul and to show kindness to all His creatures. Continue to steward well what He has entrusted to you, giving the medicine faithfully and watching over her with care and gentleness.

We pray that the Lord will complete her healing, ease her pain, and give you peace as you care for her. May this experience also draw your mouth and heart to continual thanksgiving, which purifies the conscience and keeps us close to Him. We thank God for His kindness to you and will keep praying for a full and quick recovery.

We rejoice with you in this good report and thank God with you that nothing was broken and that treatment for the inflammation has been given. It is right to give thanks to the Lord for His mercy in this, even when words feel too small to carry all the gratitude in your heart. Language is often inadequate when we truly want to express thankfulness to God, but He hears the heart behind the words.

We also understand that even with good news, a lingering sense of guilt can remain after hurting a creature entrusted to your care. That is how guilt works. You cannot hide it from yourself, it stays before you, and it can even create a quiet desire to be punished in order to feel relief. There is no relief in trying to justify or cover what happened. Relief comes when we simply acknowledge before God what we have done and receive His cleansing. When David spoke of his own sin being ever before him, his path to peace was not to excuse himself but to confess his transgression openly to the Lord.

God's forgiveness is total and complete. He invites us to reason with Him, that though sins are as scarlet they shall be made white as snow. It is His glory to pardon, and He does so abundantly. In His grace, which Scripture describes to the praise of the glory of His grace, He has provided a just basis for forgiveness by laying our sin on His Son Jesus Christ who died in our place. When we come confessing our guilt, He pardons. To refuse to confess leaves us to justice, which is receiving what we deserve, but to confess brings pardon and the lifting of that heavy hand of guilt. David prayed that after forgiveness he might hear joy and gladness again, that what was broken within might rejoice, and that is what God gives, a restored fellowship and a blessed happiness for the one whose transgression is forgiven and whose sin is covered.

We thank God for this physical healing for your cat, and we recognize His kindness in it. Scripture shows that Christ's work touches both soul and body, and we may rightly bring physical needs to Him. At the same time the greatest miracle in any life is not physical healing but salvation, the forgiveness of sins through Jesus. That eternal healing is of far greater weight than any temporary relief, and it is the foundation for all our thanksgiving.

Bring your thankfulness and any remaining burden of guilt to Him in prayer, trusting that He abundantly pardons and washes completely. May you know the joy of a clear conscience before Him and rest in His gracious care for you and for the little life He has placed in your keeping.
