I have to preach in a local church

Beloved of All
Upcoming I have to preach the Word of God at a local ###. Please support me with prayers to God. Let us pray, Heavenly Father, to help me prepare for this sermon (writing a sermon plan, coming up with examples and illustrations, organizing my thoughts and all), in the Name of Jesus Christ. Let us pray that God will give me a very strong anointing, wisdom and boldness, so that with this sermon to be maximally effective in achieving God's goals, in the Holy Name of Jesus Christ! Let us pray that when I stand to preach the Word of God, the Heavenly Father will inspire me, clothe every word with the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit, so that all God's will will be done in the Name of Jesus Christ! Let us pray that God will help me to fulfill this task (my ministry in this church) in such a way as to make my Heavenly Father's heart as gladly as possible and to glorify His Name, in the Name and Blood of Jesus Christ of ###!

We stand with you in eager anticipation and humility as you prepare to proclaim the Word of God before His people. The task before you is sacred, for you are not merely delivering a message, you are serving as a vessel through which the Holy Spirit may speak, convict, encourage, and transform lives. This is not about eloquence or human wisdom, but about faithfulness to the truth of Scripture and dependence on the power of God.

First, we must emphasize that the foundation of all preaching must be the Word of God itself. As 2 Timothy 3:16-17 declares, "Every Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work." Your sermon must be rooted in Scripture, not in personal opinion, cultural trends, or emotional appeals. The Word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword (Hebrews 4:12), and it is this Word that will accomplish God’s purposes.

We also lift you up in prayer for wisdom and discernment as you prepare. James 1:5 assures us, "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him." Ask the Lord to reveal the passage or theme He wants you to preach, and seek His guidance in organizing your thoughts. The Holy Spirit will bring to mind illustrations, examples, and applications that will resonate with the hearts of those who hear. Do not rely on your own understanding, but trust in the Lord with all your heart (Proverbs 3:5-6).

We pray for boldness as you stand before the congregation. The apostle Paul, in Ephesians 6:19-20, asked for prayer "that utterance may be given to me in opening my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the Good News, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak." Preaching the Word of God is not a popularity contest; it is a spiritual battle. You may face opposition, indifference, or even hostility, but you must proclaim the truth with courage, knowing that God’s Word will not return void (Isaiah 55:11).

We also rebuke any spirit of fear or anxiety that may attempt to hinder you. 2 Timothy 1:7 reminds us, "For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control." Do not be intimidated by the task before you. The same God who called you to preach will equip you to fulfill His calling. Lean on Him, and He will strengthen you.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the opportunity You have given to proclaim Your Word. We ask that You would anoint and equip our brother/sister as they prepare to preach. Lord, grant them wisdom as they study Your Word, discernment as they organize their thoughts, and clarity as they craft their message. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, that every word they speak may be clothed with Your power and anointing.

Father, we pray for boldness and courage. Remove any fear or doubt, and replace it with confidence in Your strength. Let Your Word go forth with authority, piercing the hearts of those who hear, convicting of sin, and drawing souls to repentance and faith. May Your will be done through this sermon, and may Your name be glorified.

We ask that You would be pleased with this ministry, that it would bring joy to Your heart, and that lives would be transformed for Your kingdom. May our brother/sister preach with a heart of humility, knowing that it is not by their own strength, but by Your grace and power. We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

Finally, we encourage you to approach this task with reverence and prayer. Spend time in God’s presence, seeking His face and asking Him to speak through you. Remember that it is not about you, but about Him. As you preach, point people to Jesus Christ, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). May God bless you abundantly as you faithfully proclaim His Word.

What a sacred weight and joy it is to prepare to open God’s Word for His people. We’re grateful you’ve shared this, and we’re honored to stand with you in prayer.

As you work on your sermon plan, examples, and organization, one thing we’ve found helpful is to keep the real lives of the congregation close in mind. It’s easy to get absorbed in the mechanics, outlines and illustrations, but the message truly comes alive when it breathes with the struggles, hopes, and questions of the people who will be listening. You’re not just crafting a talk; you’re preparing a meal for hungry hearts. Taking a few quiet moments to picture specific faces in that church and asking the Holy Spirit to show you what they most need to hear can turn even the practical work into an act of love. That simple focus often unlocks both clarity and a deeper anointing, because you’re not merely delivering information, you’re speaking into real lives with God’s own compassion.

That same Spirit who anointed Jesus for His ministry is the one who will clothe your words with power and wisdom, far beyond your own ability. We’re asking Him to guide your preparation, to give you a clear mind, fitting illustrations, and a bold yet tender heart. And when you stand to preach, we trust He will accomplish exactly what He intends, both in you and through you.

Let’s pray: Father, thank You for calling this servant to proclaim Your Word. Grant them a special measure of Your Spirit’s wisdom and strength as they prepare. Steady their thoughts, give them a message that is both true and timely, and let it bear lasting fruit in every hearer. Above all, may Your heart be glad and Your Name lifted high. In Jesus’ name, amen.

You stand in need of the Holy Spirit, for without Him no sermon can reach the heart. How can any man preach aright except by the Spirit of Holiness? A true sermon is the workmanship of the Holy Spirit! Burn your manuscript and depend upon the Holy Spirit. Let the preacher always confess before he preaches that he relies upon the Holy Spirit. Wait upon Him in the power of the Holy Spirit. There is no rubric except one, in the Holy Spirit. That granted, nothing else matters one whit.

Consider that the Holy Spirit alone can teach you, and those who will not be taught of Him must remain hopelessly foolish. It is a great spiritual fact which the Christian knows for certain that the Holy Spirit has frequent dealings with spiritual minds and imparts to them His power. Our new-born spirit prays, but it is because it is overshadowed and filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. Cry mightily unto God, for without the Holy Spirit you utterly fail. Only when the Holy Spirit comes is there any life and force and power.

Grieve not the Holy Spirit by unbelief or unholiness of life. Let us cry aloud to the Holy Spirit, who is certainly grieved with His church, and purge everything contrary to His Word. And remember, the Holy Spirit glorifies Christ. A sermon of Christ, set in the Light of the Holy Spirit, shines like a diamond. We must tell what the Holy Spirit has told us and pray the Holy Spirit to bless the truth by enabling men to see Christ as the Spirit reveals Him. That cannot be of the Holy Spirit which does not glorify the Lord Jesus.

We do pray for you, that the Heavenly Father will clothe every word with the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit, that Jesus Christ may be glorified, and that the heart of the Father may be made glad. Come, Holy Spirit. Come even now. Let us implore His Presence and power.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

🙏Prayer Focus: God, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for loving me, Jesus. God, I ask You in Jesus’ name please bless me with everything that I stand in need of and everything You want me to have. God bless me to prosper, walk in excellent health, and never stop growing in the love, grace, wisdom, and knowledge of Christ Jesus. God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, so that I can trust You with all my heart, acknowledge You in all my ways, and lean not to my own understanding. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about. God, please forever honor this prayer over each of our lives. God Thank You. Amen, so be it by faith, and by faith, it is so

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Let a man examine himself before he dares to speak for God. You ask for prayer, and rightly, for no sermon springs from study alone but from a soul on its knees. Yet when I hear you plead for “anointing” and “power,” I tremble. Do you know what you ask? The anointing is not a gentle dew that makes preaching smooth; it is the fire of the Holy Spirit that burns up the chaff of human eloquence. My speech, said the Apostle, was not in persuasive words of wisdom but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power. If you seek to stand and charm men with clever illustrations and a well-ordered outline, you may win their applause, but you will never pierce their hearts. The true sermon is born not in the writing desk but in the furnace of affliction, in the poverty of spirit that cries out, “I have nothing to give but what He gives me.”

You want boldness? Look at Stephen. His boldness came not from having a fine argument but from his face shining like an angel while men gnashed their teeth. He spoke of their sin, and they killed him, and he prayed for their forgiveness. That is the boldness of the Cross. It is not the brashness of a man who thinks he has mastered the text. It is the gentleness of one who knows he is nothing and speaks only because God has commanded him, with love enough to wound for the sake of healing. If you speak with anger or pride, you ruin everything. The Holy Spirit flees from wrath. The preacher must first be clean of passion, or his words, however true, will be useless. Prepare your heart before you prepare your sermon. Confess your sins. Let compunction pierce you. Only then can the Spirit speak through you.

You long to “achieve God’s goals.” But whose goals? Do you think the preacher’s task is to be “maximally effective”? God’s wisdom is foolishness to men. The Gospel is not advanced by human wisdom or by counting results. Elijah stood alone against a king and a nation, and he seemed to fail. John the Baptist sent his disciples to Jesus with a question, and then went to his death. Was their preaching ineffective? The power of God is made perfect in weakness. Perhaps He will humble you before that congregation, let your words seem broken or your logic falter, so that the faith of those who hear may rest not in your cleverness but in His power. Pray then, but pray for poverty of spirit. The preacher who has nothing, who fears no loss and seeks no gain, is the one who cannot be silenced. The rich preacher, laden with reputation and a desire to please, is a slave to every hearer.

I do not scorn your preparation. Write your plan, search the Scriptures, find your illustrations. But when you have done all, throw yourself on God and say, “Unless You speak, I am only noise.” The sermon that pleases the Father’s heart is the one that exalts the Son and is carried by the Holy Spirit, not the one that flatters the preacher or entertains the crowd. And remember this: the Father’s heart is most gladdened when sinners repent and saints are built up in holiness. Do you preach to make men comfortable in their sins? Then you are no herald of the King. A herald proclaims what the King commands, adding nothing, taking nothing away, whether men cheer or stone him.

So pray, yes. But let your prayer be this: “Lord, empty me of myself. Let me decrease that Christ may increase. Give me such love for these souls that I will speak the truth even if they hate me for it. Clothe me not with eloquence but with humility. Let the demonstration of Your Spirit and power be so evident that no one afterward can say the preacher was clever, but only that God was present.” If you seek this, you will not ask how to make the Father’s heart glad; you will tremble before the task and trust only in the Blood of Jesus. That is the boldness that shakes the gates of hell. Go then, preach the Word, but first be still and know that He is God.

The deep desire in your request is for the Lord to take a jar of clay and fill it with His treasure, so that the surpassing power belongs to Him and not to you. That longing is already evidence of the Spirit at work. God does not need polished eloquence; He delights in using preaching that rests fully on Christ, because in Him are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. As you sit down to write your outline, search for illustrations, and organize your thoughts, remember that true wisdom is not something you manufacture. It does not rise from human cleverness. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of that wisdom, the starting place where we stop depending on our own intellect and lean wholly on His revelation.

The world prides itself on knowledge, yet by its wisdom it cannot know God. He has made the wisdom of this age foolish. What He uses to save those who believe is the very thing the world dismisses as weakness, the proclamation of the cross. So do not be anxious about finding the most persuasive words. When Paul described his own preaching, he said his speech was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power. That anointing you are asking for is exactly this: the Holy Spirit clothing your message with divine authority, so that when you open your mouth, faith is planted in hearts not by human logic but by the living God.

As you prepare, ask the Father to pour out the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might. Proverbs shows wisdom crying out in the streets, personified as though Christ Himself were calling. Every true insight you receive will come from abiding in Him, who is made unto us wisdom from God. Keep returning to that simple confession: "I need Your wisdom." He will give it generously, and it will be better than rubies, a defense and a life-giver.

Let your study be bathed in prayer, not frantic research. Trust that the Spirit will bring to mind the right examples and illustrations at the right time. Boldness is not something you work up; it flows from a fresh sight of the cross and the resurrection. When you stand and speak, you can be confident that the heavenly Father delights to honor His word. He will inspire; He will carry the seed of the message past the ear into the very hearts of the hearers. The same wisdom that formed the earth and established the heavens will steady your mind and order your thoughts.

We join you in asking that this sermon accomplish exactly what God intends, not one word returning void. The goal is not a performance but the gladness of your Father's heart and the glory of His name. Rest in this: the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, full of mercy and good fruits. That is the kind of fruit the Spirit will produce through you. So go forward, not in your own strength, but in the conscious emptiness that lets His power be perfected. He is faithful, and He will do it.

We are so grateful you entrusted us with the privilege of standing in prayer with you as you prepared to preach God’s Word. What an honor it is to lift up your sermon preparation, your writing, and the anointing, wisdom, and boldness you sought from the Lord. We have been praying that the Holy Spirit would clothe every word with power as you stood before His people, that God’s will would be done, and that His name would be glorified through your obedience in this ministry.

Now that some time has passed, we would love to hear how the Lord moved. If He answered your prayers—if you felt His presence, His guidance, and His strength as you preached—please share a praise report so we can rejoice with you. If, however, you feel the need for continued prayer, whether for clarity, confidence, or the fruit of this message in the hearts of those who heard it, do not hesitate to post again. We are here to stand with you in faith, trusting that God is working even when we cannot yet see the full picture.

May the Lord continue to bless you as you seek Him, and may His Word go forth in power through you. We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
