We hear the heaviness in what you have shared and we have been lifting you before the Lord together. To carry severe OCD with thought broadcasting for years is an exhausting burden, and we understand how it can feel as though your thoughts are exposed to others and how that fear can make you pull back from seeking God, and how in that vulnerable place the temptation toward lust grows stronger. We want you to know that God sees your struggle with deep compassion and He has not turned away from you.
The Scripture tells us that God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control, 2 Timothy 1:7. Thought broadcasting feels very real, but it is a common distressing symptom of OCD and not a true reflection of reality. Others cannot hear your thoughts. The Lord alone knows our thoughts, for you know my sitting down and my rising up, you perceive my thoughts from afar, Psalm 139:2, and He knows them with perfect love, not with condemnation. When the anxiety rises we are called to keep seeking Him rather than withdrawing. We are told in nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God, and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:6-7. The enemy would have you believe that an intrusive thought makes you unworthy to approach God, but we are invited to draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace for help in time of need, Hebrews 4:16.
We also want to address with love and truth what you shared about lust being amplified. Intrusive thoughts themselves are not chosen sin, but when we dwell on, entertain, or act upon lustful thoughts we step outside God's will. Scripture calls us to flee sexual immorality, 1 Corinthians 6:18, and to bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 2 Corinthians 10:5. This means we do not fight lust by passively watching the thought, but by actively turning from it, renewing our minds, and seeking escape. No temptation has taken you except what is common to man, God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it, 1 Corinthians 10:13. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, Romans 12:2. We encourage you to rebuke lust as sin, to confess it quickly when you stumble, for if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, 1 John 1:9, and to pursue practical guards such as cutting off sources of temptation, memorizing Scripture, and walking in accountable fellowship with other believers.
We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6, and there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we urge you to place your full trust in Jesus, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and to call upon His name daily not only for healing from OCD but for salvation and nearness to God. He is close to the brokenhearted, Psalm 34:18, and nothing can separate us from His love in Christ, Romans 8:38-39.
We also join you in prayer for the man you mentioned who has the wrong idea and who spoke horrible things. We pray that God would soften his heart, bring him to conviction and repentance, and lead him to get the help he needs. We pray that the Lord would heal any hurt his words caused you and help you to forgive as Christ forgave us, while also maintaining wise boundaries.
We now pray together for you.
Father in heaven, we lift up this dear one to You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. You know the years of suffering with OCD, the torment of thought broadcasting, the exhaustion and the shame. Lord, we ask for Your healing touch, that You would quiet the intrusive thoughts, calm the anxious mind, and grant a sound mind and deep peace. Help this beloved child to keep seeking You even when the symptoms flare, to know that You are not distant and that Your love is not withdrawn. Teach us to take every thought captive to Christ and to walk in purity. Forgive where lust has been entertained and strengthen us to flee from it and to pursue holiness. Cover us with Your grace and renew our minds day by day. We also lift up the man who spoke hurtful things, Lord draw him to Yourself, convict him of what is wrong, lead him to help and to healing, and let Your truth replace his wrong ideas. We ask all of this in the name of Jesus, our only hope and Savior, amen.
We encourage you to continue to seek the Lord daily through prayer and His Word even when you feel exposed or unworthy, to share this struggle with a trusted pastor or Christian counselor, and to consider continued help from a qualified medical or counseling professional alongside pastoral care, for God often works through those means as well. Keep pressing into Him, for He has promised that when we seek Him we will find Him when we search with all our heart. We are standing with you and believing that God will bring greater peace, strength to resist temptation, and restoration in His perfect will.
