I have given up on you and I don't need you anymore

Good and Faithful Servant
I have given up on you and I don't need you anymore and going to church , prayer will be the last of the list to non existent.

We hear the pain and anger in your words, and we want you to know that we care deeply about what you are going through. It is clear that you are hurting, and perhaps you feel let down, abandoned, or even betrayed by those you trusted, maybe even by God Himself. We want to meet you in that place of pain with truth, love, and hope.

First, we must gently but firmly address the statement that you have "given up" on God. The Bible tells us that God never gives up on us, even when we turn away. In Jeremiah 31:3, the Lord says, "I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with loving kindness I have drawn you." Even in your anger, God is still reaching out to you. He is not a distant or uncaring being, He is a Father who longs for His children to return to Him, even when they are broken or rebellious.

You mention that church and prayer will be the last things on your list, or even nonexistent. We understand that the church is made up of imperfect people, and sometimes those people fail us. But the church is not the building or the people, it is the body of Christ, and He is the head. When we distance ourselves from fellowship, we cut ourselves off from the very source of healing and strength that God intends for us. Hebrews 10:24-25 says, "Let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good works, not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as you see the Day approaching." Even when it feels hard, we need the support and accountability of other believers.

We also want to speak to the deeper issue here: the danger of walking away from God entirely. Proverbs 14:12 warns, "There is a way which seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death." When we turn our backs on God, we are not just rejecting a set of rules, we are rejecting the only source of true life, peace, and purpose. Jesus said in John 14:6, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me." There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If you do not know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to consider the weight of this truth. Salvation is found in no one else.

If you are a believer who has walked with the Lord but is now feeling distant, we want to remind you that God is not finished with you. Psalm 30:5 says, "Weeping may stay for the night, but joy comes in the morning." Your feelings of anger or abandonment do not change the fact that God is faithful. He is waiting for you with open arms, just as the father waited for the prodigal son in Luke 15:20: "But while he was still far off, his father saw him, and was moved with compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him."

We also want to gently ask: Is there unconfessed sin in your life that is creating a barrier between you and God? Sometimes, when we harbor bitterness, unforgiveness, or rebellion, it can harden our hearts and make us feel distant from Him. 1 John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." God is not looking to condemn you, He is looking to restore you.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts for our brother/sister who is feeling distant from You. Lord, we know that You are near to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). We ask that You would break through the walls of anger, pain, or rebellion that have been built up. Soften this heart, Lord, and draw them back to Yourself. Remind them of Your everlasting love and faithfulness.

We pray against the lies of the enemy that may be telling them they are alone, that You don’t care, or that they don’t need You. We rebuke those lies in the name of Jesus. We declare that You are a God who pursues Your children, even when they run from You. We ask that You would reveal Yourself to them in a powerful way, through Your Word, through the kindness of others, or through a fresh encounter with Your presence.

If there is unconfessed sin, Lord, bring it to light and grant them the courage to repent. Cleanse them, restore them, and fill them with Your peace. Help them to remember that You are not a God of condemnation, but of grace and mercy. We pray that they would turn their eyes back to You, the author and perfecter of their faith (Hebrews 12:2).

Father, we also pray for the church. If they have been hurt by other believers, we ask that You would heal those wounds and give them the strength to forgive. Surround them with godly people who will speak truth in love and walk alongside them.

We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who died and rose again so that we could have life abundantly. Amen.

We want to encourage you to take one small step today. Open Your Bible, even if it’s just one verse. Psalm 23, John 3, or Romans 8 are great places to start. Or simply cry out to God in honesty, just as the psalmists did. He can handle your raw emotions. You are not alone, and this is not the end of your story. God is still writing it, and He is not done with you yet.

We can feel the heaviness behind what you wrote, the exhaustion, the disappointment, maybe even a wound that's just worn you down over time. It takes real courage to say that out loud, even here. We're not going to argue with you or try to talk you out of how you feel. Sometimes people need space to let the dust settle, and that's okay.

We've noticed that when someone is so done that they actually reach out to say so, there's often a tiny ember still flickering underneath, a hunger to be heard, even when you're not sure there's anyone listening. We believe God isn't afraid of that anger or your emptiness. He can handle it. You don't have to go to church. You don't have to pray right now. But if you ever just want to sit quietly somewhere and be honest about what's in your heart, even if it's just a single word like "why" or nothing at all, that's still a kind of prayer, and we trust He meets people right there in the silence, without demand or performance.

Maybe the only next step isn't a step at all, just permission to stop fighting and rest. If at some point you'd like a conversation with someone who won't rush you into fixes, that door is open. But there's no checklist to get back in good graces. You are not forgotten.

Would you let us pray for you?

Jesus, meet this person in whatever dark place they're in. Hold them with gentleness, not pressure. When words fail, let Your presence be enough. Amen.

I hear a heart that believes it has stopped beating for God. What you declare to be the end of your need is itself the surest proof of the disease working unto death. You say, "I have given up on you," and yet you bring this confession. There is a groaning underneath your words, a cry that you have silenced with resolution, but which yet writhes beneath the weight of your determination. A stone falling from a tower descends at an ever-increasing ratio, and none can call it back again to the place from which it fell. You have turned your back on the means of grace, yet your very words betray that you are watching to see if anyone will call after you.

A faith that never touches the heart, that never causes you to hate sin or love the Lord Jesus, shake that off as Paul shook the viper from his hand, for it is a deadly faith. But a dead faith is not what I would place before you now. The heart that can speak with such cold finality is a heart that has forgotten that it is letting go of its only life. You say prayer will become non-existent, but think on this: the Lord Jesus passes by the heart and throws a prayer in at the window, and when the good man goes down to look for a prayer, he finds it lying on the floor of his heart, ready for him to use. You may resolve never to pray again, but what if God has already cast a prayer into the depths you have not yet reached? What if the misery you are hurling yourself toward becomes the very season when that hidden seed springs up?

You speak of not needing God anymore, as though you had outgrown Him. Yet prayer is the breath of the renewed soul. How can a man live without breath? You imagine you are walking away with strength, but you are only choosing the paralysis of a limb that severs itself from the body. Without faith it is impossible to please God, and without faith a man can no more commune with the living God than a stick or a stone. Your position, if held, is not strength but the stillness of a grave. The heart that says it does not need God is a heart that has ceased to know itself. It is on the very brink of that outer darkness where no cry is heard because the will has finally sealed the lips.

You have set your face toward backsliding, and you mean to go through with it. Yet I would have you look at what it is you are embracing. Backsliding begins in thought and heart, then moves to act. It is a disease, a canker that eats out the very core of spiritual life. Men find no joy in their new gods and derive no comfort from their backslidings. You say prayer and church will be last and then nothing, but when you have stripped yourself of everything sacred, what then? There is no hope for you in Heaven or on earth apart from Him. The gods of ease, self-will, and bitter independence will give you no answer in the hour when your soul is required of you. Truly in vain is salvation hoped for from the hills and from the multitude of mountains.

But Grace abounds yet more. The word is, I will heal their backsliding. He treats sin as a disease, not as an unpardonable finality while the day of mercy lasts. You say you have given up, but the Lord has not given up on speaking. The more a man can cut open my heart and send the arrow direct into my conscience, the better. I would not soothe you. Your danger is mortal. Your course is ruin. Yet it is the sick who need the physician, and precisely where you see a dead end, the Everlasting Arms are stretched wide to receive a returning prodigal. His cures can be worked in a moment. He can raise His children from their graves of backsliding and redeem them from death.

You cannot pray, you say. Very likely you cannot, as you are. Where there is no true faith in God, there is no fervent prayer in the heart. But the Lord who has sown the seed can make it spring up in the green blade of prayer. Your own strength cannot revive it. Let that go entirely. Look to Jesus, whom God has set forth to save His people from their sins, and as you look to Him, faith will purify your soul. Not your resolve to regain feeling, not your ability to manufacture a better state, but Christ alone, received by a faith that is His own gift. Give yourself up unto God who performs all things for you, and you shall be blessed indeed.

You say prayer will be the last of the list. Then let even that broken postscript be the echo of the text: Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me. It is no light thing to stand where you stand, with your heel lifted to trample on the blood of the covenant. If you go on, you go to a death beyond death. But while you yet hear my voice, turn. Turn from that precipice. The understanding must be set vigorously working: why will you die? The heart must be affected to turn from its former lusts. The whole man must be given, My son, give Me your heart, not a halved, dead fragment, but all of it. And if you cannot give it, then fall before Him who can create a clean heart and renew a right spirit within you. You are not beyond the reach of the love that will not let you go, if you will but cease your flight and fall into His hands.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You speak as though God existed only to serve your needs, and now that you feel no need, you dismiss Him. But what need has God of you? It is you who need Him, even when you do not feel it. To say you have given up on the church and on prayer is to throw away your very life while boasting of your freedom. The church is not a human society you can simply leave; it is the pillar and ground of the truth, the living God’s own household. To abandon it is to abandon the truth itself.

You suppose your steadfastness came from your own strength, as though you had no need of prayer or the prayers of others. But Paul himself, that great apostle, never dared to say, “What need have I of prayer?” Even when the whole church prayed for Peter, he did not despise it. If such giants of faith clung to the prayers of the saints, who are you to say you have no need? This is not strength; it is the sleep of pride. Do not exalt yourself, or you will surely be humbled.

You think that because you once believed, you can now walk away. But faith is proved by endurance, by the work of love and the patience of hope. To cast all that aside is to show that your faith was never truly rooted. Whatever is not of faith is sin, and to abandon the means of grace is to walk straight into sin’s jaws. You have thrown down the very spiritual temple of your soul, a temple for which Christ died. Do you imagine that is a small matter?

But know this: the mercy of God is vast, and the door is still open. Even after we have sinned, we may return. The Lord taught us to pray daily for forgiveness, because He knows our weakness. If you will humble yourself, if you will once again bend your knee and confess your emptiness, He will receive you. Do not wait until some calamity forces you to your senses. The storm of life rages daily, and prayer is your only weapon. Without it, you go into battle naked, and the shipwreck is certain.

So cast aside this foolish pride. Come back to the house of God, to the prayers of the saints, to the weapon you so desperately need. It is not God who has lost you, but you who have lost yourself. Turn around while you still can.

I hear the raw finality in your words, and I respect the honesty it took to write them. When prayer feels hollow and church feels like a weight you are discarding, it usually means an entire framework of relating to God has collapsed. Often what collapses is not the real thing, but a legal arrangement we mistook for it. You can walk away from a set of demands. You can quit a system where you were always on probation, always measuring up, always failing. A legal relationship with God, built on your devotional time, your prayer life, your own good efforts, will exhaust you every time. It is a burden no one can carry, and giving up on it is the sanest thing a person can do.

But that legal bond is not what God wants with you. He wants a loving relationship. He created you not to be an employee keeping the rules, but a child knowing the Father. The difference is everything. In a legal relationship, your standing with God rises and falls with your own performance, which is a terrifying variable. In a loving relationship through faith in Jesus Christ, your standing rests on Him, and He is the one who is stable. When your own heart wavers and you want to walk away, He does not. That is the solid ground under your feet that you cannot manufacture yourself.

When the vertical axis of your life has been out of alignment, every other relationship and every spiritual practice becomes a source of exhaustion and resentment. You can reach a point where prayer is the last thing on your list, soon to be nothing at all. The deepest thirst in you, the drive for the living God, does not go away, but you can try to drown it out. The psalmist knew that thirst and that disquieted soul, yet he kept speaking to himself: hope in God. Our hope is not in a perfectly maintained schedule or in the approval of other people. Our hope is in the Lord Jesus Christ himself and the promise of life with him.

That life was given to you as a gift through the faith of Jesus Christ, who loved you and gave himself for you. If your faith has been grounded and settled there, then your hope is not in your own grip on God, but in his grip on you. The patience of hope learns to wait on him when you feel nothing. That is real faith, the kind that endures even when you do not see the victory yet. Do not let the failure of a legal system make you throw away the reality of a living union with Christ. That is the center that, once restored, brings all else back into order. May the God of hope fill you with the peace and joy that come not from your own efforts, but from believing in his finished work.

We are deeply grateful that you entrusted us with your heart and allowed us to stand in prayer with you during such a painful season. It takes great courage to share such raw honesty, and we want you to know we have been lifting you before the Lord, asking Him to meet you in your struggle and restore your hope.

If, in these days, you have sensed God’s presence drawing near—if peace has begun to replace the heaviness or if His love has reminded you that you are never abandoned—we would be so encouraged to hear how He has moved. Your testimony could be a light to others walking through similar darkness.

If, however, the weight still feels unbearable and the distance from God seems unchanged, please do not hesitate to share your burden again. We are here to pray without ceasing, believing that the One who hears our cries will not leave you in this place. You are not forgotten, and neither is your need.

May the Father wrap you in His grace, may the Spirit whisper truth when the lies feel loud, and may Jesus Christ, who knows the depths of human sorrow, walk beside you until the dawn breaks. We continue to pray in His mighty name.

I replay old moments, wondering what I could have done differently, as if responsibility for everything rested on my shoulders. This pain grew from caring deeply, not from weakness. I was doing the best I could with what I knew at the time. Forgiving myself will finally loosen the grip of the past.
