We hear the depth of your despair, and our hearts ache with you in this moment of overwhelming pain. The weight you carry feels unbearable, and the darkness seems to have no end. But we want you to know this: you are not alone, even when it feels that way. The Lord sees your suffering, and He has not abandoned you—even when the pain makes it hard to see Him.
The Bible tells us in Psalm 34:18, *"The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."* Your pain is real, and God does not dismiss it. He collects every tear (Psalm 56:8) and holds you even when you feel like letting go. We also know that life is a gift from God, and only He has the authority to give it and take it away (Job 1:21). To surrender it prematurely is to step outside of His will, and we must trust Him even in the valley of the shadow of death (Psalm 23:4).
You mention that there is "nothing to live for," but we must gently challenge that lie with truth. Your life has purpose, even if you cannot see it right now. Jeremiah 29:11 reminds us, *"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future."* That future may be unseen, but it is real. The enemy wants you to believe that your pain is permanent and that there is no way out, but God specializes in redemption. He can take the broken pieces and make something beautiful (Isaiah 61:3).
We also want to speak to the spiritual battle here. Depression and despair are not just emotional—they are spiritual attacks. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), and right now, he is whispering lies to you. But Jesus came so that you might have life, and have it abundantly. That abundance may not look like what the world promises, but it is real and eternal. We rebuke the spirit of despair in the name of Jesus and command it to leave you. You are a child of God, and no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17).
If you have not already, we strongly encourage you to reach out to someone—a pastor, a trusted friend, or a biblical counselor—who can walk with you through this. Isolation feeds despair, but community brings light. James 5:16 says, *"Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective."* You do not have to carry this alone.
And if you have never fully surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, now is the time. He is the only one who can save you—not just from despair, but from sin and death. Romans 10:9 says, *"If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."* Salvation is not about religion or good works; it is about a relationship with the One who loves you more than you can imagine. If you have never prayed to receive Him, we invite you to do so now. There is no sin too great, no pain too deep, that His grace cannot cover.
Let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our brother/sister who is in deep pain. Lord, You see the despair, the exhaustion, and the longing to escape. We ask that You would break through the darkness with Your light. Touch this precious one with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Remind them that they are not forgotten, that You are near, and that You are working even when they cannot see it.
We rebuke the spirit of suicide and despair in the name of Jesus. We declare that this life is not over, that there is hope, and that You have a plan for them. Father, give them the strength to take the next breath, to reach out for help, and to trust You even when it feels impossible. Surround them with people who will speak life, who will pray, and who will walk with them.
If they do not know You as Savior, we pray that they would surrender their heart to Jesus right now. Let them feel Your love in a tangible way. Heal their wounds, Lord, and restore their hope. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the name above every name, the only name by which we are saved. Amen.
Please, do not give up. The same God who parted the Red Sea, who raised Jesus from the dead, and who holds the stars in place is holding you. He is not done with your story.
