I have finally realized that true peace comes not from having all the answers, but from trusting the One who holds every question in His hands.

Servant of All
I have realized that if I have to fight my place in people’s lives, they can live without me. I’ve learned my worth. If they value me, they’ll keep a value me, they’ll keep a place in their heart for me.

We rejoice with you in this realization and we thank God for the work He is doing in your heart. What you have expressed is deeply biblical and we praise Him for opening your eyes to it.

True peace does not come from having every answer, but from trusting the One who holds every answer and every question in His hands. Scripture says You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Isaiah 26:3 and The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7 We are encouraged that you are learning to trust not in your own understanding but in Him, for we are called to Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

We also hear your heart about learning your worth and no longer fighting to keep a place in people's lives. We want to gently encourage you that your worth is not determined by whether others keep a place for you, but by what God Himself has declared over you. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. Psalm 139:14, you are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works. Ephesians 2:10, and while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 Your value was settled at the cross, and no person's acceptance or rejection can add to it or take it away. When we seek our validation from people we will always be disappointed, but when we find our identity in Christ we can love others freely without demanding they prove our worth.

We also want to encourage you with balance in this. It is wise not to chase after those who do not value you or to beg for affection, and it is right to have healthy boundaries. Yet we also must guard our hearts from becoming hardened or closing ourselves off in pride or hurt. Even when others forsake us, we have the promise that When my father and my mother forsake me, then Yahweh will take me up. Psalm 27:10 God calls us to forgive, to love, and to keep our hearts tender before Him, trusting Him to bring the right relationships into our lives in His timing.

We notice you spoke of trusting the One who holds every question, but you did not mention His name. We want to lovingly share that this peace and worth can only be found through Jesus Christ. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12 It is only through faith in Jesus, His death and resurrection for our sins, that we have access to God and can truly know His perfect peace. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your full trust in Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

We pray together for you now.

Father, we thank You for this dear one and for the revelation You have given. We ask that You deepen their trust in You day by day and keep them in Your perfect peace as their mind stays on You. Heal any wounds from feeling unseen or unvalued by others, and remind them continually that they are fully known, fully loved, and fully valued by You. Help them to rest in their identity as Your child and not to seek their worth from people. Give them wisdom in relationships, grace to forgive, and discernment to walk in healthy, godly community. Draw them ever closer to Jesus, and let Your peace guard their heart and mind in Christ. We ask all this in the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

We were really encouraged reading your words. That movement you describe, from needing all the answers to resting in the One who holds every question, is such a steady, peaceful place to live from. And hearing you name your worth so clearly matters.

What you said about not fighting for a place in people's lives stood out to us. That is not hardness, it is health. Learning where your life ends and another person's begins helps you take responsibility for what is yours, your time, energy, choices, and heart, and release what is not. It keeps you connected to others without losing yourself, so your yes can be a free yes and your no can be a kind no. When you live that way, relationships have room to be honest and mutual.

A gentle next step as you carry this forward might be to pause when that old urge to chase or prove your place comes up, and ask yourself quietly what trusting God with that question or relationship looks like in that moment. Over time those small pauses help this new peace take deeper root.

Father, we thank You for the clarity and peace You are growing in our friend. Keep guarding their heart and deepening their trust in You. Give them wisdom to love others well while honoring the boundaries You are teaching them, and let them know daily how valued they are by You. In Jesus' name, amen.

There is a precious truth in what you have written, and I thank God that He has taught it to you. True peace does indeed come not from having all the answers, but from trusting the One who holds every question in His hands. This is the very gospel, for He is our peace.

You have well said that peace is found in trust. The Scripture declares that Christ Himself is our peace, and that the chastisement of our peace was upon Him. Righteousness and peace kissed each other at the Cross. Your peace with God was not made by your understanding, nor by your feelings, nor by your success in untangling the mysteries of life. It was made for you in the eternal covenant before the world began, and it was made for you on Calvary's tree when Christ laid down His life and bore what His redeemed would have suffered. God can now with strictest justice pardon, because Christ has suffered in the place of all who trust Him.

And from that peace with God flows peace within. Until Christ comes in, man is at war with himself and enjoys no rest, for there is no peace to the wicked. But he who believes that Jesus suffered in his place that which was due to divine justice has a solid reason for being at peace which he may plead anywhere. Your communion, your service, your success, these must never be looked upon as the ground of your peace. Your peace lies entirely in Christ, and if your mind is stayed on Him, He will keep you in perfect peace even when heart and flesh fail.

Concerning what you have learned about your place in the lives of others, there is also wisdom there, yet let me point you to a still higher ground. This world was not made to be our nest, and if we try to make it so, the Lord in mercy plants thorns in it to compel us to find our soul's true home elsewhere, in Christ. High thoughts of self go with low thoughts of Christ, but low thoughts of self are always joined with high thoughts of Christ, and they help each other. Your true worth is not measured by whether others keep a place for you in their hearts, though it is painful when they do not. Your worth is measured by the price paid for you, the precious blood of the everlasting covenant. If you have no reason in yourself why you should be saved or valued except the free grace of God in Christ, then take that free grace and rest in it. There is more room in the soul for faith in Jesus when we have no faith in ourselves or in the fleeting affections of men.

So keep right on believing. Coming to Him always, that is the true position for peace. Do not only believe in Jesus once, but keep on believing every day, and the fruit of that believing will be seen every day.

May the God of peace who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus through the blood of the everlasting covenant, keep your heart and mind through Christ Jesus, and may that peace of God which passes all understanding guard you until you dwell in peace before the throne.
