I have a prayer request that I would like to ask for. I am 17 years old and am a professional ballet dancer. I am home from Houston Ballet on a medical leave. I have had three major injuries in the past year- Two surgeries and now a stress fracture in my metatarsal. My faith has grown so much since moving away from home at age 15 and even more so after all these injuries. I attended Lakewood church with Joel Osteen every Sunday in Houston. I have a very promising career for ballet and right now I am waiting to hear back from Royal Ballet in London to see if I was accepted or not. I am healing up and trying to get back in shape while at home, but I also have many other options in my life that I feel God is calling me to do and I am trying to sort it all out and see His plan for me.
I dance simply to honor Him and praise Him. I try so hard to share His love and mercy with my colleagues and those around me, as well as the audience I perform to. The ballet world is considered AntiChrist in a lot of ways and it has been hard for me to say strong and keep sharing Him with those around me who don't believe. As I said before, I have been through three major injuries in the past year- and this is far from normal. I am wondering if God is trying to tell me something or if He is allowing me to go through all this so I can be an example of perseverance and what God can get us through in any situation, making my testimony even stronger.
I have a special needs brother and have always had a huge heart for special needs kids. I volunteered regularly with them while living at home before I moved away, but have not has the time while dancing in Tx. A ballet career takes up all your time- I was also awarded a Target-Tigerwoods scholarship for my work with special needs kids.
I also have a huge passion for sick children and love to dance for them and just talk to them- While being home and participating in a bible study by Beth Moore, Living beyond Yourself, I am really questioning what God wants me to do. Do I stick with my childhood dream of becoming a professional ballet dancer while honoring him in everything I do or do I give up that big dream and move on to another dream of sharing Him with sick kids and special needs kids....still using my talent of dancing to glorify Him. I have many ideas in my head with this path---including pageants. I am thinking about starting to compete in pageants to earn scholarship money either to help with my ballet or help start an organization 'Kids for Christ.'
Please pray that God bring clarity to me and that I have the wisdom to see where He is guiding me. Do I go the path I have been working on 15 years and my childhood dream, trying to share Him, although it is not taken to easily and the audience is not as receptive? Or do I switch dreams and go after one that is all about sharing Him and making kids happy? Thanks so much- Any advice is appreciated or just prayers works too-
