I have a low intelligence level

Humble Servant of All
I failed my GCSEs and I don't understand what people say a lot. I don't think I can even preach the gospel because I am not smart enough to do it.

Hard work and integrity in your daily tasks bring honor now and eternal reward later.
The Gentleness of Jesus
Jesus shows endless patience with His enemies and the weak, calling all to trust Him before judgment comes.
The Heart of Flesh
God transforms the hardened heart into a tender one, making you sensitive to sin, love, and His will.
We hear the heaviness in your heart and we want to lift you up before the Lord together, because what you are feeling is not how God sees you. Failing exams and struggling to understand what others say does not mean you have low worth or that God cannot use you, and we gently rebuke the lie that your intelligence determines your value or your ability to serve Him. The enemy wants you to believe you are not enough, but God says you are fearfully and wonderfully made, Psalm 139:14, and that He looks not as man looks, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart, 1 Samuel 16:7.

We want to remind you that God often chooses those the world would call unqualified so that His power is made clear. God chose the foolish things of the world that he might put to shame those who are wise, 1 Corinthians 1:27, and He told Moses who also said he was not eloquent and was slow of speech, Now therefore go, and I will be with your mouth, and teach you what you shall speak, Exodus 4:12. Jesus Himself thanked the Father that You hid these things from the wise and understanding, and revealed them to infants, Matthew 11:25. The apostles who turned the world upside down were seen as uneducated and untrained men, yet the people recognized that they had been with Jesus, Acts 4:13. What mattered was not their schooling but that the Holy Spirit was with them.

You do not need to be smart or eloquent to preach the gospel, because the gospel itself is simple and the power is not in our words but in Christ. The good news is that all have sinned, Romans 3:23, the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord, Romans 6:23, that Christ died for our sins, was buried, and was raised again, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, and that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved, Romans 10:9. You can share that simple truth in your own words and testimony of what Jesus has done for you, and God will use it. We were not called to preach with persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, so that our faith would not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God, 1 Corinthians 2:4-5. Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit will teach you in that same hour what you ought to say, Luke 12:12.

We also want to encourage you that if you lack understanding or wisdom, God delights to give it when we ask. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him, James 1:5. And His grace is sufficient for you, for His power is made perfect in weakness, 2 Corinthians 12:9.

We pray together for you now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved and have access to Your throne, Acts 4:12, John 14:6. We lift up our dear one who feels small and not smart enough, and we ask You to heal the hurt of failure and confusion and to silence every voice that says they are not worthy to be Your witness. Lord, reveal to them how precious and wonderfully made they are in Your eyes, fill them with Your peace that passes all understanding, and pour out Your Holy Spirit upon them so they may speak Your truth with boldness and simplicity. Give them wisdom and clarity to understand what they need to understand, and confidence to share the simple gospel of Jesus with others, not in their own strength but in Yours. Help them to know that You desire a willing heart more than perfect words, and use their life as a testimony of Your grace. We ask this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, amen.

We encourage you to keep walking with Jesus daily, reading His word in small portions, praying honestly, and sharing simply what you know, that Jesus loves sinners, died and rose again, and offers forgiveness to all who believe in Him. You do not need to have all the answers or understand every deep teaching to tell someone Jesus loves them and can save them. Start with your own story and one verse like John 3:16 or Romans 10:9, and trust the Holy Spirit to work through those simple, faithful words.

We hear how heavy this feels for you. Failing your GCSEs and often not understanding what people are saying has left you wondering if you are smart enough to tell others about Jesus at all.

We want to gently push back on that thought. Your worth to God and your usefulness to Him were never meant to be measured by grades or how quickly you pick things up. He looks at your heart and your willingness, not your exam results. You do not have to be clever or eloquent to share the good news.

In fact the simplest sharing is often the most powerful. People do not need a polished sermon, just your honest story in plain words. Something as simple as "Jesus loves me and helps me each day" is already telling the gospel.

If it would help, here is one small next step to try. Think of one short sentence about what Jesus means to you personally, in words that feel natural to you. Practice saying it to one trusted friend or family member. You could also ask a pastor or a mature believer you trust to come with you next time you want to talk to someone, so you are not on your own.

You are not disqualified. God delights to use kindness, faithfulness and simple, sincere words.

Father, thank you for this friend. Help them to see themselves as You see them, loved and created with purpose. Give them confidence not in their own cleverness but in Your Spirit working through their simple words, and bring a gentle opportunity soon to share Your love with someone. In Jesus' name, Amen.

It is a most gracious truth that the gospel by which we are saved is not a hidden gospel for the wise and learned only. The gospel is in itself a glorious light, and it is in itself most plain and clear. It contains nothing which can perplex anybody unless he wishes to be perplexed. There is nothing in it which a man may not apprehend if he desires to apprehend it. The true gospel is simplicity itself.

You need not fear that your failing in examinations or your slowness to understand the speech of others disqualifies you from the service of Christ. The Lord does not measure a man by his GCSEs or by quickness of wit. He looks upon the heart that trusts His Son. To preach the gospel is not to deliver a clever oration or to win an argument with fine words. To preach the gospel is to exalt Jesus Christ, to tell plainly that Christ died for sinners and that whosoever believes in Him shall live.

Though you and I cannot quicken the dead in sin, yet we can preach the gospel to them, and faith comes by hearing. Where faith is, there is life. It is the absolute duty as well as the eminent privilege of the Church to proclaim the gospel to the world, and ours is simply to testify of Christ everywhere. We have nothing to do with making men believe, that is the work of the Holy Spirit. Our part is to tell what we know, to speak of the Saviour as we have found Him.

A simple word about Christ from a humble heart has often done more than the most eloquent discourse. You can tell a neighbour, a friend, a family member, that you were a sinner and Christ is a Saviour, that you have trusted Him and found mercy. That is preaching the gospel. You can adorn the gospel not with great learning, but with holiness, with honesty, with patience and with a happy trust in God who knows all your troubles.

Do not listen to the voice that says you are not smart enough to be used. If any man preaches any other gospel than that we have received, let him be accursed, but the one true gospel is that Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners, and that gospel any saved sinner can tell to another. May the Lord give you courage to open your mouth in that simplicity, and may He give you joy to commit each day's troubles to your Father who knows it all, and to speak a plain word for His dear Son as He gives you opportunity.

God does not measure your worth or your usefulness by exam results or by how quickly you understand what others say. He looks at the heart that trusts Him, and your honest humility before Him is precious in His sight.

The gospel is not a complicated argument that only clever people can explain. It is very simple good news that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died for sinners and rose again, and that whoever believes in Him will be saved. Scripture says God chose what the world considers foolish and weak to show His power, so that no one can boast. The first apostles were fishermen, described as unschooled and ordinary men, yet God used them to turn the world upside down because the power was in the message, not in their own intelligence.

You do not need a high level of learning to share that message. You can preach the gospel in the simplest way, by telling what Jesus has done for you, by sharing a single verse like John 3:16 or Romans 10:9 which says if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead you will be saved, or by inviting someone to church or to read the Bible with you. God gives understanding by His Holy Spirit, not by human intellect, and He delights to use simple words spoken in love.

Please do not believe the lie that you are not enough for God to use. You are created and loved by Him, and if you belong to Jesus, He has already given you everything you need to know Him and to make Him known in your own words. I will pray that God gives you peace about how He made you, confidence that He can speak through you, and joy as you share the simple truth of Jesus with others, trusting that He will do the work that only He can do.
