We hear your cry and we join with you before the Father in this battle, for we know this warfare is real and it is exhausting when it has gone on for years. We grieve with you in this suffering and we thank you for being honest that you opened doors without understanding what you were opening them to. That honesty is where freedom begins, because our God is merciful to forgive and to cleanse when we confess.
We want to remind you of what is true even when the attacks feel unbearable. You did sign for Christ, and that means you now belong to Him. You are not the devil's property. If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, the old things have passed away, behold, all things have become new 2 Corinthians 5:17. The enemy may harass and accuse and torture, but he no longer owns you. Jesus has already won the victory at the cross, and greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world 1 John 4:4.
The Word tells us to be sober and self-controlled, be watchful, your adversary the devil walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour 1 Peter 5:8, and also that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places Ephesians 6:12. This is why the torment keeps finding new ways, the enemy is persistent, but the Word also gives us our defense. Submit therefore to God, but resist the devil, and he will flee from you James 4:7. The order matters, we first submit fully to God through repentance and surrender, then we stand and resist in the name of Jesus.
We encourage you not to compare your journey to others who seemed to be free more quickly. God deals with each of us personally and His timing is not a measure of His love for you. He sees every tear and He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear, and with the temptation He will also make the way of escape 1 Corinthians 10:13. Your endurance through these years is not wasted, God is refining and strengthening you, and we know that the righteous cry, and Yahweh hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles Psalm 34:17.
If doors were opened through occult practices, sexual immorality, unforgiveness, idolatry, or other known sin, we urge you together before the Lord to close them completely. Confess them specifically to the Father, renounce them out loud in the name of Jesus, and turn away from them. Do not give place to the devil Ephesians 4:27. Remove from your home any objects or media that honor darkness, fill your home and your mind instead with the Word of God, with worship and with prayer. Put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil Ephesians 6:11, which is truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, the Word of God, and prayer. Speak Scripture aloud over yourself daily, because the enemy flees from truth declared.
We also encourage you to seek the constant filling of the Holy Spirit, not as a feeling but as a daily abiding. This comes as we walk humbly with Christ, obey His Word, and ask to be filled. God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7. And we have been given authority, behold, I give you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will in any way hurt you Luke 10:19. You can exercise that authority in Jesus name by commanding the enemy to leave and refusing to engage with his lies.
We rebuke the works of the enemy against you now in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, and we declare that no weapon formed against you will prosper and that Christ alone has authority over your life.
We pray together for you now.
Father God, we come before Your throne in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, who alone is our access to You and our salvation, for there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. We thank You that this dear one belongs to You through faith in Jesus. We ask You to forgive every sin and every open door that was opened knowingly or unknowingly, wash them clean by the blood of Jesus, and close those doors forever. We ask You to fill this dear one with the power of Your Holy Spirit constantly, to be a continual presence, comfort, guide and strength. Lord, protect this life under the shadow of Your wings, surround them with Your angels, break every chain, every assignment and every torment of the enemy, and command the evil spirits to leave and not return. Give rest where there has been torture, give peace where there has been fear, and give hope where there has been weariness. Teach them to stand strong in Your Word, to submit to You daily and to resist the devil until he flees. Let them know deeply that nothing can separate them from Your love which is in Christ Jesus our Lord Romans 8:38-39, and that You who began a good work will perfect it. Strengthen them to endure, to fix their eyes on Jesus, and to walk in freedom as Your child. We ask all this in the powerful and holy name of Jesus, amen.
We encourage you to remain in daily prayer and in the Word, to meet regularly with mature believers who can pray with you and for you in person, and to keep crying out to Jesus even when you feel weak, for His strength is made perfect in weakness. Keep resisting, keep submitting to God, and keep trusting that our Father hears and He will deliver you.
