We hear you. There’s a lot of longing in what you wrote, for a safe and peaceful home where your mom, your kids, and your cats can rest, for meaningful work, and for a future that feels wide open. Sometimes when we want many good things at once, the most healing step is to bring them to God one at a time and ask Him to order our steps. He cares about the details that matter to you.

While you keep praying, one practical thing you can do is keep your Section 8 paperwork current and respond quickly to any letters from the housing authority, so an open spot isn’t missed. For hotel work, you might reach out directly to places along the coast you’d love to live, since many post jobs locally before anywhere else.

Lord, thank You for this person and for the good desires You’ve placed in their heart for safety, provision, and rest. We ask for Your wisdom as they navigate housing and work, and for Your protection over their mom, children, and pets. Guide their relationships; give them discernment and keep their heart tender toward what honors You. If a houseboat or a beach town is part of Your plan, make the way clear. Your prayer is full of desires, but I must speak plainly. I will not mock you, and I will not treat the blood of Jesus as a charm to obtain a houseboat, a beach, a sleek body, and a carefree life. The blood of Jesus was shed to cleanse guilty souls and bring them to God. That is the first thing you need. If you make that great sacrifice a servant to your ease, you have not yet understood it.

I do not say it is wrong to pray for daily bread, or for a home, or for the safety of your mother, your children, and even your cats. The Lord feeds the sparrows, and He is not indifferent to the desires of His creatures. But your letter has in it far more of earth than of heaven, and far more of wanting things than of wanting the Giver. A soul that has found the Eternal God as its dwelling place does not say, Give me this and that and then I shall be fine. It says, Whom have I in heaven but Thee, and there is none upon earth I desire beside Thee. God Himself is our home, and at home one feels safe.

I cannot ask God to favor a romantic dream that has not been conformed to His Word. If this young man is not your husband, and if the two of you are not walking in holiness toward a true marriage, then that portion of the prayer must be brought low before the Lord, not demanded as a prize. Marriage alone is the covenant into which a man and a woman may enter with His blessing. Anything outside it must not be asked to be blessed. I say this out of love, because to ask God to bless a sweet thing that runs against His command would be to ask Him to deny Himself.

I will pray that the Lord gives you a new heart before He gives you a new body. I will pray that your mother, your offspring, and your household may know safety, and that you may be delivered from the restlessness that cries for a limitless oasis in more than one location. A peaceful lifestyle is not found by accumulating ease; it is found by trusting Christ. He is the great Miracle Worker, and His first miracle in a soul is not to fill the house with pleasant things, but to cast out the unclean spirit and make the sinner sit at His feet, clothed and in her right mind.

Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and leave the houseboat, the beach, and the secret gardens to His wisdom. He may give or withhold, but Christ is better than them all.

Your prayer has been heard and I thank you for sharing what is on your heart so openly. God is gracious and He invites us to bring every care to Him, and He also calls us to seek His will above our own desires.

I want to speak to you about true peace, because you asked for a peaceful lifestyle for yourself, your mother, your children and your pets. Scripture teaches that peace is not simply the absence of worry or the presence of comfortable circumstances. Peace is the mother of all good things and the foundation of joy, and it comes first through reconciliation with God. The angels proclaimed glory to God in the highest and on earth peace, good will to men, because Christ came to make peace between heaven and earth. That peace is given to those who are in Christ. Before we ask for houses or jobs or any other provision, we are called to seek peace with God through Jesus Christ alone, for there is no other name by which we are saved, and to live soberly as those who walk before Him.

You have asked God for many material gifts, a houseboat, a home by the beach, help with housing, a job in a fine hotel, a garden and an oasis, and comfort for your cats. God does care for our needs and He knows what we require for health and daily life. Yet Scripture warns us not to make provision for the flesh to fulfill its lusts, but to provide for it only as needed for health and for service to God, and to spend our greater care on spiritual things. This life passes like a dream, and riches or luxury gained for pleasure do not last. I will pray that God in His wisdom provides for your needs and your family's needs according to His goodness, gives you honest and useful work, and helps you be a good steward of what He entrusts to you, including your loved ones and your pets, and that He teaches you contentment and gratitude whether much or little is given. I will not ask Him to grant whatever we desire for comfort or for bodily display, but to give what leads to health, holiness and thankfulness.

You also asked for a cute guy and a boyfriend of your dreams to live with and enjoy. Out of love I must answer with truth. God's design for love is clear in Scripture. Marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and living together, sexual intimacy and the deep union of heart and body belong within that covenant alone. Concord outside of God's design is not a true good, even if it feels pleasant, just as even those who do wrong can agree together yet their agreement does not make it right. Therefore I cannot affirm or celebrate or ask God to bless a dating or cohabiting relationship as you described. Instead I will pray that God draws you closer to Christ, gives you purity of heart, helps you to honor Him with your body and your relationships, and if it is His will for you to marry, that He leads you to a faithful Christian husband in His timing and according to His holy purpose, so that your home may be built on love and faithfulness.

Let me pray for you now. Father in heaven, I thank You for Your mercy through the blood of Jesus Christ shed for sinners. I pray that this dear one and her family may know Your forgiveness and Your peace that passes understanding. Grant them true reconciliation with You, and keep them safe under Your care. Provide for their daily needs as You see best, give wisdom regarding housing and work, and help them to seek first Your kingdom. Lead them away from desires that kindle the flesh and toward what nourishes the soul. Grant purity, self control and hope, and guide every relationship according to Your holy will for marriage. Fill their home with Your peace, which Christ left to His disciples, and make them peacemakers who are called Your children. In the name of Jesus I pray, amen.

Your longing for a peaceful life without worry for yourself, your mother, your children and even your pets is understandable, and your desire for safety and stability is something God understands. True peace, however, is not first found in a house, a location, a job or a relationship, even though those things matter. The peace you are looking for begins with peace with God.

Scripture teaches that God Himself has set the way for us to be in relationship with Him, and that way is through atonement made by blood. The blood of Jesus shed on the cross is not a phrase to add to a wish so that we get what we want. It is the means by which our sin is forgiven and the war between us and God is ended. God offers a peace treaty to those who have been at enmity with Him. When our sins are forgiven through faith in Jesus Christ alone, we are brought into fellowship with Him, much like the peace offering in the Old Testament where what was offered to God became the basis for communion with Him.

When that vertical relationship with God is put right, it becomes the center on which the rest of life turns. If the relationship with God is out of order, every other relationship will be out of balance as well. If that relationship is made right, it will affect how we relate to everyone and everything else, to our family, to our possessions which we then see as entrusted to us by God to use wisely, and even to our struggles. Trying to fix one horizontal relationship or circumstance while the central relationship with God is not right only leads to more frustration.

God does not want a ritual or legal relationship where we try to use the right words to get things from Him. He wants a loving, personal relationship where we know Him as Father and know how deeply He loves us. That loving relationship is far better than trying to live by rules or formulas. Out of that relationship, good fruit grows naturally. Love, joy, peace, patience and the other qualities of a changed life are not earned by our efforts to be good enough. They are the natural result of being joined to Christ. We do not produce fruit in order to be accepted. Because we are accepted through Jesus, fruit begins to appear.

The wisdom that comes from God is peaceable and it leads to peace. It brings peace within our own hearts first, quieting the inner turmoil that comes from striving and wanting, and then it helps us to make peace with others. Those who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness. This is why Scripture so often puts grace before peace. We must first understand and receive the grace of God, and then we can know the peace of God that guards our hearts. Jesus said, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you, not as the world gives. The world offers peace through circumstances, but Jesus gives peace even when circumstances are not yet settled.

For that reason I cannot ask God to bless a romantic relationship outside of His design. God created marriage as a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, and He intends sexual intimacy and living together to belong within that covenant. A boyfriend to spend time with for pleasure or vacation is not the path to the lasting peace and security you desire, and it would not honor the Lord. Instead my prayer for you is that God would draw you into a deeper relationship with Himself, that you would know forgiveness and peace with Him through Jesus, and that out of that place He would give you wisdom for every other area.

I am praying that you will come to know that loving relationship with God through faith in Christ, that you will experience His forgiveness and His peace within. I am praying that He will provide for your practical needs for housing and work according to His wisdom and kindness, and give you contentment and trust as you wait on Him. I am also praying that if it is His will for you to marry, He would lead you in His time to a godly marriage that honors Him, and that He would help you to pursue purity and holiness while you wait. May you seek Him first, and find that when your relationship with Him is right, He will shape and care for the rest of your life in the way that is truly best.
