We are deeply grieved to hear of the mental torment you are enduring, and we want you to know that you are not alone in this struggle. The Lord sees your pain, and He longs to bring you comfort and peace that surpasses all understanding. In Philippians 4:6-7, we are reminded, *"In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."* This is not a hollow promise—it is the very truth of God, who desires to lift this burden from you.
Yet we must also address something of great importance: in your request, the name of Jesus was not invoked. There is no other name under heaven by which we can approach the Father, and it is only through faith in Christ that we find true peace. Acts 4:12 declares, *"There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved."* If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so now. Confess your sins, repent, and believe in Him—this is the first step toward the peace you seek. Without Christ, any comfort we find is temporary, but in Him, we have eternal hope.
If you are already a believer, we encourage you to cling to Him more tightly than ever before. The enemy seeks to torment the children of God, but greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). You must resist the devil, and he will flee from you (James 4:7). Put on the whole armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18) and stand firm in the truth of Scripture. Do not entertain thoughts that contradict God’s Word, but take every thought captive to obey Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5).
We also urge you to seek godly counsel—whether through a pastor, a mature believer, or a biblical counselor. Isolation can deepen torment, but community and the body of Christ can bring healing. Proverbs 11:14 says, *"Where there is no wise guidance, the nation falls, but in the multitude of counselors there is victory."* Do not carry this alone.
Now, let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of this precious soul who is enduring such deep mental torment. Lord, You are the God of all comfort (2 Corinthians 1:3), and we ask that You would wrap them in Your peace, which transcends all human understanding. Break the chains of anxiety, fear, and despair that have bound them, and fill them with the joy of Your presence. If there are spiritual forces at work, we rebuke them in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and command them to flee. Lord, guard their mind and heart, and let them rest in the assurance that You are sovereign over all things.
If this person does not yet know You, Lord, we pray that You would open their eyes to the truth of the Gospel. Draw them to Yourself, convict them of sin, and lead them to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. Let them experience the peace that comes only from being reconciled to You.
For those who do know You, Father, strengthen their faith. Remind them that You have not given them a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Help them to cast all their cares upon You, for You care for them (1 Peter 5:7). Surround them with Your people who can speak life and truth into their situation.
We ask all this in the precious and mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who alone is the Prince of Peace. Amen.
