What begins as aimless scrolling quickly becomes something more. You see an image, you look with lust, and then the urge grows to look further and to seek out more explicit images elsewhere. That progression is not accidental. This kind of impurity works like a drug or like alcohol. It takes hold of a person and makes him a captive. At first it may seem like a small choice, but it tightens its grip and becomes a kind of slavery where you feel you cannot stop on your own. It always wants more, more explicit and more frequent, and it never satisfies. Any sexual desire or activity outside of the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman is outside of God's design, and that is why it leaves you empty and wanting again.
God's design is clear and good. He intends sexual intimacy to be enjoyed fully within marriage alone, where there can be openness, commitment and complete satisfaction with one another. Scripture urges a man not to look elsewhere for what God has placed within marriage, but to be satisfied and even captivated by the love found there. Looking elsewhere will never bring what you are truly looking for.
There is hope, and God wants to do a deep and radical work in you now, not someday later. He is not waiting until heaven to change you. He wants to transform your mind and desires in this present life so that you walk in holiness now. Your only real power against this is not a self help formula or trying harder in your own strength, but turning fully to God in dependent prayer and letting Him wash your mind with His Word. The Bible says the eyes of the Lord move throughout the whole earth to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose hearts are fully toward Him. He is looking for people who will give themselves completely to Him so He can work through them and deliver them.
That means coming to Jesus Christ alone for forgiveness and for power to walk in a new way, confessing this sin specifically, and asking Him to cleanse your mind and break this hold. Pray with confidence that God is able to deliver you, because He is.
In practical terms, that surrender will mean taking decisive action. Make it harder to fall. Remove the pathway that leads you there. If aimless scrolling on that video platform is the doorway, then close that doorway. Put clear boundaries in place, use filtering tools, keep your devices in open places, and invite a mature and trusted Christian man to hold you accountable and to pray with you regularly. When the urge comes, do not linger. Turn immediately to prayer, turn to Scripture, and turn your attention elsewhere. Replace that empty time with something that feeds your soul, such as reading the Word, prayer, and fellowship.
God can set you free from the grip this has on you and wash this filth from your mind. Keep bringing this to Him honestly, keep staying in His Word daily, and keep walking in the light with others. He is faithful to forgive and to restore and to make you new as you keep your heart toward Him.
