I deleted Discordđź‘‹

Humble Servant of All
I am wondering if I made the right choice. I joined a server and the people were saying you shouldn't judge others for their sin. But I was telling others that it was a sin to do, and I was telling somebody he shouldn't go to this Halloween party, and I said it's up to him but it could be bad. I need guidance on what I should do now because I feel lost.

Good News for the Lost
Jesus comes to rescue the utterly lost and give them new life through His mercy.
The Lord’s Razor
God’s judgments are precise tools that demand we handle them with mercy toward others.
The Critics Doom
Judge others with mercy because the same measure you use will be used on you.
We hear your heart in this and we understand why you feel lost after stepping away from that server and deleting Discord, and we want to walk with you through this with truth and grace.

What you encountered is a very common distortion of Scripture. Many people will quote Matthew 7:1 out of context to say we should never call sin what it is, but when we read the whole passage we see Jesus is warning against hypocritical judgment, not against discerning right from wrong. He says in Matthew 7:5 to first remove the beam from our own eye, and then we will see clearly to remove the speck from our brother's eye. He also commands us in John 7:24 to not judge according to appearance, but judge righteous judgment. We are told in Leviticus 19:17 to surely rebuke our neighbor, and not bear sin because of him, and in Ephesians 5:11 to have no fellowship with the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but rather even reprove them. So the rebuke is not for you for speaking the truth, but for that server for teaching that love means silence about sin. True love speaks the truth in love as we are taught in Ephesians 4:15, and restores a brother with gentleness as in Galatians 6:1.

We believe you did what was right to warn that person about the Halloween party, and to do so by saying it was up to him but could be bad shows you were not being harsh or controlling, but giving a loving warning. Halloween by its roots and its modern celebration often glorifies darkness, fear, witchcraft and death, and Scripture is clear in Deuteronomy 18:10-12 that we are to have nothing to do with such practices, and in 1 Thessalonians 5:22 to abstain from every form of evil. To encourage a brother to step away from that is not judgmental, it is caring for his soul. We are to have no fellowship with darkness but rather expose it.

Regarding whether you made the right choice to delete Discord, we would tell you that we see wisdom in what you did. We are told in 1 Corinthians 15:33 that evil companionships corrupt good morals, and in Psalm 1:1 that blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked nor sit in the seat of scoffers. If a platform or a specific community is constantly pulling you into arguments, confusion, temptation, or fellowship that dulls your conscience, then removing it is biblical wisdom. Jesus said in Matthew 5:29-30 that if something causes us to stumble, we should cut it off. That does not mean every use of technology is sinful, but for this season, stepping away to seek clarity and peace is a sound and godly choice. We would encourage you not to make the decision out of fear or shame alone, but out of a desire to guard your heart and your walk with the Lord.

For what to do now that you feel lost, we encourage you to turn that feeling into seeking. God promises in Psalm 32:8 that He will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go, and in Proverbs 3:5-6 to trust in Yahweh with all your heart and not lean on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight. We encourage you to spend time daily in the Word, in prayer, and in fellowship with a local Bible believing church where you can be face to face with mature believers who will speak truth and not just what sounds tolerant. Ask God for wisdom, for James 1:5 promises that if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.

We also noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and find salvation and true guidance. Jesus said in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And in Acts 4:12 there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your full trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, confessing Him as Lord, for Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. It is in His name that we can pray with confidence and be heard.

We pray together for you now. Father in heaven, we lift up this dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ. We thank You that You have given them a conscience that desires to stand for truth even when others say to stay silent. We ask You to remove this feeling of being lost and replace it with Your peace and clear direction. Give them wisdom to discern righteous judgment from hypocrisy, and courage to speak the truth in love with humility. Guard their heart from the influence of darkness and from the confusion of worldly counsel. Lead them to godly fellowship and to a deeper love for Your Word. Confirm to them whether stepping away from Discord was Your will for this season, and help them to use their time to draw closer to You. We ask that they would know You more through Jesus, and trust fully in His name for salvation and for every step forward. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus, amen.

We encourage you to stay in the Word, to pray continually, and to seek out older believers who will not flatter you but will help you grow. You were right to care enough to warn about sin, just continue to do it with gentleness, humility, and always examining your own heart first. God will not leave you lost when you seek Him with your whole heart.

We hear how unsettled you feel since deleting Discord and wondering if you made the right choice. Being caught between what others on the server were saying about not judging and your own desire to warn someone that a Halloween party could be harmful can leave you feeling torn and lost, and it makes sense you would step away to get some space.

Wanting to say to someone, it is up to you but this could be bad for you, comes from concern, not from wanting to condemn. Online chats move so fast that it is hard to show both honesty and kindness in a few lines, and when everyone is talking at once it is easy to feel misunderstood or overwhelmed. Taking a pause when things feel tangled is a reasonable way to seek clarity, not a failure.

One steady next step that may help is to bring what happened to one trusted person who knows you in real life, a pastor, mentor, or mature friend, and walk through it slowly together. In person you can talk about what was said, how you felt, and how to care for others well without the pressure of a fast moving server. As you do, keep bringing your questions to God simply and asking for wisdom and peace for whatever you decide about returning. You do not have to figure everything out tonight.

Father, we lift our friend to You in this quiet, confusing moment. Give calm where there is worry and clear guidance for the next steps. Surround him with trusted voices and help him know how to love others well while staying faithful to You. Lead him as he seeks Your will. In Jesus' name, amen.

It is a good thing that your conscience is tender enough to ask whether you have judged rightly, for that very question shows a work of grace upon the heart. Naturally we do not like being guided, but when the Lord teaches us we begin to pray as David did, Teach me good judgment and knowledge. You have felt that prayer in your own soul, and it is wise to bring it before God again.

You were told on that server that you should not judge others for their sin. Yet Scripture teaches that there is a judgment according to the truth of God, and that we shall all stand before the judgment seat of God. That judgment will make no mistakes. In the light of it we are first to judge ourselves, that we may not be judged, putting ourselves into the scale and asking whether we are right before God through Jesus Christ alone, for there is no other way of salvation. When a man knows he is right before God by faith in Christ, he may speak with confidence, but when his conscience tells him he is wrong he must not despise the warning.

To judge in this sense is not to condemn with pride, but to have good judgment, sound judgment, to call evil what God calls evil and to avoid everything that is evil. One of the great principles infused in every man who takes God for his guide is this very principle, to shun that which is evil and to bow with submission to the will of God. By that very submission we are furnished with unerring guidance. Haste is the author of a great deal of mischief, so do not be hasty now in either returning or in condemning yourself.

In telling another that a thing was sin, and in warning a brother that a Halloween party could be bad for him while still leaving the decision to him, you were exercising that kind of good judgment. It is not uncharitable to warn. It is love to say, this path may lead you into darkness, therefore consider your steps. The Lord Jesus Himself came to seek and to save that which was lost, and He has not left us without counsel. He guides His people with His counsel and afterward will receive them to glory. On earth there is no real glory for us unless we are guided by His counsel, and no true peace unless we are at peace with God through justification by faith in His blood.

If that server was leading you to call good what God calls evil, or to keep silent when you should speak the truth in love, then to step away from it was an act of good judgment. Deleting Discord is not in itself a matter of righteousness or sin, but if the place was a snare to you, or a place of constant strife where you could not speak without being reviled, then to avoid it for a season is wise. The question is not only whether you left too soon, but whether you are now seeking better fellowship where judgment and mercy walk together.

Feeling lost after such a decision is not strange. Many who are truly the Lord's have felt themselves lost, lost to hope and to confidence. Yet still His eyes with keen tenderness spy out the lost, and still the Son of Man seeks that which is lost. If you feel lost, remember that to be lost is to be the very object of His seeking. He quitted the assemblies of the perfect to be the Friend of sinners, and He will not despise a heart that desires to be guided.

What should you do now. First, judge your own heart before God in quiet prayer and in the Word, asking Him to teach you good judgment. Second, seek counsel not from a multitude of unknown voices online, but from the sure Word of God and from faithful believers in a local church where you can be known and shepherded. Third, continue to speak the truth, but with humility and mercy, remembering that judgment is tempered with mercy and that we must be gentle as we warn. If the Lord opens a door to use even digital means again for His glory, enter it with clear principles and boundaries. If not, be content to feed on the Word and to find fellowship where Christ is honored.

May the Lord guide you with His counsel day by day, give you peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, and keep you from fear both in life and in the day when we must all stand before Him.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

It is understandable to feel lost after stepping away and wondering if you did the right thing. Deleting Discord is not in itself right or wrong, but if a space was pulling you into constant arguments, confusion, and pressure to go against what you believe, stepping back to seek clarity can be a wise and careful choice.

The struggle you describe about judging is one many believers face. Scripture teaches that judgment in the final sense belongs to the Lord, not to us. You were not given the office of the Judge, but you were called to examine your own life first and to look to Jesus as your example, the one who had nowhere to lay his head and who came not to condemn at his first coming but to save. When we point out sin in others while neglecting our own need for grace, we place ourselves under the same judgment we pronounce. That is why we are told to test our own actions before we take up the faults of another, and not to judge unjustly or harshly.

That does not mean we must stay silent about sin or pretend it is not serious. Love does speak the truth, but it does so with humility and compassion, not with a harsh or superior spirit. What you described, telling someone that a Halloween party could be harmful while also saying it was ultimately his decision, sounds like you were trying to warn gently rather than condemn. That kind of careful, humble warning is very different from seizing the place of God and pronouncing final condemnation on a person.

If you are feeling lost now, turn that quiet you have made into time to seek the Lord more directly. Pray honestly about your confusion, read Scripture steadily, and bring these questions to a trusted pastor or mature believer in your local church who knows you personally. A face to face community can give you guidance and accountability that an online server often cannot. Ask God to show you any area in your own life that needs repentance first, and ask for wisdom to know when to speak and when to remain quiet, always with grace.

God sees your desire to do what is right and to honor him. Keep seeking him, remain in fellowship with believers who love the truth and walk in love, and trust that as you look to Christ and keep your own heart humble before him, he will give you clarity for each step ahead.
