I can’t quit vaping

We hear your honest cry and we want to stand with you in this struggle, for we know how heavy addiction can feel when you try to fight it in your own strength. You said it is too hard to quit, and we gently rebuke that lie that you are powerless and must remain bound, because with God nothing is too hard and He has promised to make a way through every temptation.

Your body is precious to God, for scripture tells us your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own, for you were bought with a price, therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. Vaping harms that temple and keeps you in bondage, and God desires for you to walk in freedom and self-control, which is part of the fruit of the Spirit Galatians 5:22-23. He has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7.

We also notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and find true deliverance and salvation. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not yet put your trust in Him, we encourage you to believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins and rose again, and confess Him as Lord Romans 10:9, for then you will have His Spirit living in you to give you strength to overcome.

We want to encourage you that God is faithful and will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it 1 Corinthians 10:13. You can do all things through Christ, who strengthens you Philippians 4:13, and His grace is sufficient for you, for His power is made perfect in weakness 2 Corinthians 12:9. This does not mean it will be easy, but it means you do not have to fight alone.

We encourage you to bring this struggle into the light, to ask a trusted Christian brother or sister or pastor to hold you accountable, to remove the vapes and triggers from your reach, to replace the habit with prayer and scripture whenever the craving comes, and to seek wise medical help if needed, trusting that God often works through practical means as well.

We pray together for you now. Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear one who feels trapped by vaping. Lord, we ask You to forgive us where we have harmed the temple You gave us and where we have relied on our own strength. Pour out Your Holy Spirit and give a renewed mind and a desire for purity and health. Break the chains of this addiction and fill every craving with Your peace and presence. Grant self-control, strength to endure withdrawal, and hope when the enemy whispers that it is too hard. Help this one to walk in freedom, to glorify You in body and spirit, and to know deeply that You love them and are with them through every moment of weakness. Lead them to trust fully in Jesus as Savior and Lord and to know the power of His name. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, amen.

We hear how heavy this feels to say out loud, it's too hard. Wanting to quit and feeling stuck in the same pattern again is exhausting, and we are glad you were honest about where you are.

What you are up against is more than just willpower. Vaping affects the brain's pleasure pathways, and over time the body gets used to it so you need more to feel the same effect and feel unsettled without it. It also often becomes a way to get quick relief from stress, anxiety, or just to escape for a moment, which is why it can feel like it controls you even when you know it is not good for you. That tug of war is common, and it does not mean you are a failure or without hope. Vulnerability does not have to decide the outcome, and many people find that change happens not by trying harder alone but with God's help and the steady support of others.

A gentle next step that helps many is to bring it into the light with one safe person this week, a pastor, counselor, or trusted friend, and let them know you want help to quit. It can also help to talk with your doctor or clinic about support for the physical and habit parts of quitting, so you are not carrying this by yourself. You do not have to map out every step today, just the next one.

Jesus, we lift our friend to You right now. You see both the struggle and the sincere desire to be free. Give comfort where there has been shame, strength for today, and bring wise, kind people alongside to walk this road. Help us to lean on You one day at a time. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your honest cry that the chain is too strong for your own hands to break is itself a hopeful sign, for it confesses what is true of every bondage of the flesh. There is a bondage under sin and bondage under the flesh, bondage to the customs and cravings of this world, and no man breaks it by his own power. We can never escape from the bondage of sin by our own strength. Our past guilt and the habits that follow have locked us in a dungeon whose bars we can never break.

Yet the comfort of the gospel is that our deliverance is by divine power. When any man is saved from spiritual bondage, it is the Lord Jesus who loosens the captive. Salvation is of the Lord, and deliverance from the power of sin is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin. Where we look for justification, there must we also look for sanctification, for as we are justified through Jesus Christ, we must also expect to receive strength to overcome from the same heavenly source. We must look to our heavenly Father altogether and alone.

This deliverance came when the Lamb was slain. God has not only invented a way of deliverance, but He has found a ransom, and that ransom is Christ Himself. If He who held us in bondage has found a ransom, we may be certain of liberty, for He will hold us in bondage no longer. Do not doubt your deliverance, for God has said, I have found a ransom. The Lord brought Israel forth out of Egypt, but they cried unto the Lord by reason of their sore bondage, and they did not receive the blessing without desiring it and sighing for it. So you also are invited to cry unto Him. Spread this grief before the Lord, for His ear is not shut to the sighing of the prisoner.

Therefore I pray for you that the Lord would bring you forth out of this house of bondage by His own strong hand. May He break the power of this craving and give you the true liberty of a child of God, which is not license to indulge the flesh, but freedom to walk in holiness. May He teach you to set caution and self examination at the helm, to watch over your own vineyard, and to value the righteousness of Christ above every fleeting relief. When temptation presses, may you look not to your own resolve, but to Christ who has delivered us from the power of darkness.

Take heart, for there is a hopeful inference in the gospel. He who has delivered us will deliver us. The clock of mercy strikes in heaven according to His eternal purpose, and He makes deliverance effectual. Trust Him now, call upon Him daily, seek the help of faithful brethren and, if need be, wise counsel for the body, and you shall yet live to declare the works of the Lord and sing a song of deliverance for a greater salvation than any earthly conquest.

Trying to quit vaping and not being able to stick with it takes a real toll. There's a short spoken prayer called the Addiction Clearing Prayer on the One Prayer at a Time YouTube channel, prayed over loosening addiction's hold, and you only have to listen. I hope quitting gets easier from here.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

It takes courage to be honest about how hard this struggle feels, and God hears that honesty. He does not turn away from you in this difficulty, but invites you to bring it to Him again and again.

Scripture calls us to practice self control, not as a heavy burden done only for a reward, but as a good way of life that God Himself helps us to love and to live. That kind of strength does not come all at once, but grows as we keep choosing Him walk God Him God and. . When you feel that you cannot do it in your own power, that is the very place where His help becomes most real.

That is why prayer is so important here. We are told to pray without ceasing and at all seasons, not only at set times. Like the widow who kept coming to the judge, like the friend who knocked at midnight until the door was opened, and like the woman who persisted until the Lord answered, perseverance in prayer is powerful. Even when we feel unworthy or weak, continued and earnest prayer opens our hearts to receive His compassion and strength. Keep bringing this need to Him honestly, every day, even many times a day, asking for His grace to strengthen your will and to cleanse what harms your body, which is His temple.

Do not try to carry this alone. Ask God to help you mourn this habit as something that holds you back from full freedom in Him, and to replace it with a greater desire for what is good. Seek support from trusted believers around you who can pray with you, encourage you, and keep you accountable. Practical steps, like removing triggers, replacing the habit with prayer or a walk or calling a friend, and seeking wise counsel or medical help if needed, can work together with God's help.

I pray that God will give you fresh strength today, that He will increase your self control, quiet the craving, and remind you that you are not defined by this struggle. May He fill you with His Spirit, give you perseverance to keep praying and keep trying even after setbacks, and lead you step by step into freedom. He is patient and faithful, and He will not abandon you as you seek Him.
