We join with you in humble repentance and gratitude for the mighty work of salvation that our Lord Jesus Christ has accomplished in your life. Your heartfelt cry for forgiveness and surrender to God’s will is a beautiful testament to the Holy Spirit’s conviction and the Father’s unfailing love. The Scriptures assure us that *"if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:9, WEB). You have come before the throne of grace with a broken and contrite heart, and we know that *"The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit. A broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise"* (Psalm 51:17, WEB). Praise God that you have acknowledged Jesus Christ as your Lord, God, Savior, and Messiah, for *"there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men, by which we must be saved!"* (Acts 4:12, WEB).
Your confession of faith in the resurrection of Jesus Christ and your acceptance of His sacrifice on the cross is the foundation of your new life in Him. You have declared that you *"eat the Body of Christ and drink the Holy Living Blood of Christ,"* which reminds us of Jesus’ words: *"Most certainly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you don’t have life in yourselves. He who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day"* (John 6:53-54, WEB). This is not a physical act but a spiritual reality—receiving Christ fully into your heart and life, trusting in His finished work for your salvation. You have also welcomed the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, and we rejoice with you, for Jesus promised, *"you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. You will be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth"* (Acts 1:8, WEB). The Holy Spirit is your Comforter, Teacher, and Guide, and He will empower you to live a life that honors God.
We also celebrate with you the truth that you are now a child of God, redeemed, forgiven, and reborn. *"Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new"* (2 Corinthians 5:17, WEB). This is not a mere change in status but a transformation of your very being. You are no longer a slave to sin but a servant of righteousness, called to walk in the newness of life that Christ has secured for you. *"Even so consider yourselves also to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Therefore don’t let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. Also, do not present your members to sin as instruments of unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God"* (Romans 6:11-13, WEB).
As you move forward in this new life, we encourage you to immerse yourself in the Word of God daily, for it is *"a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path"* (Psalm 119:105, WEB). Let the Scriptures shape your thoughts, desires, and actions, and let them be the standard by which you measure every area of your life. We also urge you to find a Bible-believing church where you can grow in fellowship with other believers, be discipled, and serve the body of Christ. *"Let’s consider how to provoke one another to love and good works, not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching"* (Hebrews 10:24-25, WEB).
Now, let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we lift up our brother/sister before You with hearts full of gratitude for the work You have begun in their life. Lord, we thank You for the precious blood of Jesus that has cleansed them from all sin and for the Holy Spirit who has taken residence within them. Father, we ask that You would continue to draw them closer to You, deepening their love and devotion to You each day. Fill them with the knowledge of Your will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, that they may walk worthily of You, Lord, to please You in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of You (Colossians 1:9-10, WEB).
Lord, we pray that You would guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus, protecting them from the schemes of the enemy who seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10, WEB). Clothe them with the full armor of God, that they may stand firm against the wiles of the devil (Ephesians 6:11, WEB). Strengthen them in their inner being through Your Spirit, that Christ may dwell in their heart through faith, and that they, being rooted and grounded in love, may be filled with all the fullness of God (Ephesians 3:16-19, WEB).
Father, we ask that You would give them a hunger and thirst for righteousness, that they may be filled (Matthew 5:6, WEB). Let them delight themselves in You, Lord, and grant them the desires of their heart as they commit their way to You (Psalm 37:4-5, WEB). Help them to flee from temptation and to pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with those who call on You out of a pure heart (2 Timothy 2:22, WEB).
We pray that You would open doors for them to grow in their faith, surround them with godly mentors and friends who will encourage them in their walk with You. Give them boldness to share the Gospel and to be a light in this dark world, that others may see their good works and glorify You, our Father in heaven (Matthew 5:16, WEB).
Lord, we ask that You would break every chain of the past—every stronghold, every lie of the enemy, every weight that would seek to hinder them from running the race You have set before them. Let them forget the things which are behind and press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus (Philippians 3:13-14, WEB).
Father, we thank You that You have begun a good work in them, and we trust that You will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:6, WEB). May their life be a living testimony of Your grace, mercy, and power. May they walk in victory, knowing that *"in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us"* (Romans 8:37, WEB).
We pray all these things in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen and amen!
Finally, we want to encourage you to live each day in the reality of your new identity in Christ. You are forgiven, loved, and chosen by God. *"You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that you may proclaim the excellence of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light"* (1 Peter 2:9, WEB). Walk in this truth, and let it transform every area of your life. If you ever feel condemned or overwhelmed by the weight of your past, remember that *"there is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus"* (Romans 8:1, WEB). The enemy may try to remind you of your sins, but you can boldly declare that they have been nailed to the cross, and you are a new creation in Christ.
Stay steadfast in prayer, worship, and the study of God’s Word. Let the Holy Spirit lead you and guide you into all truth. And always remember: *"I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me"* (Philippians 4:13, WEB). You are not alone in this journey—we are standing with you, and more importantly, the Lord Himself is with you always, even to the end of the age (Matthew 28:20, WEB). To God be the glory!
