A Craze of the Times
The Babe’s Escape.
Death and Life in Christ
We hear the hurt and anger in your words today and we understand how painful it is to be lied to, especially when it is done to your face without shame. It is right to hate lying because God hates lying, for it is written Lying lips are an abomination to Yahweh, but those who do the truth are his delight Proverbs 12:22 and Do not lie to one another Colossians 3:9. Your feelings of anger are understandable, but we want to walk with you toward a godly response so that this anger does not take root in your heart.

The Word tells us Be angry, and do not sin. Do not let the sun go down on your wrath Ephesians 4:26 and Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander, be put away from you, with all malice Ephesians 4:31. When we say God will get them we can slip into desiring vengeance for ourselves, but scripture corrects us and says Do not seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord Romans 12:19. God is perfectly just and He sees all that was done to you, He will judge righteously in His time, but He calls us to a different posture which is Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good Romans 12:21 and Love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you Matthew 5:44. This does not excuse their lie, but it frees your heart from being consumed by bitterness, which the Word warns can defile many Hebrews 12:15.

We also gently point out that your request does not mention Jesus, and we want to remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and peace in our hearts. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to bring this hurt to God through faith in Jesus Christ, believing that He died and rose again and confessing Him as Lord Romans 10:9, for He alone can heal the anger and give you His peace that passes understanding.

We pray together with you in Jesus name that God would calm your spirit tonight and guard your heart from lingering anger. Father we lift this hurt to You, You saw the lie that was told and You know the pain it caused. We ask You to forgive those who lied and to bring them to repentance and truth, and we ask You to soften our brother or sister's heart to forgive as You have forgiven us Ephesians 4:32. Help us to release vengeance to You and to not let the sun go down on this wrath, but to be renewed in kindness and patience. Fill this heart with Your peace and teach us to overcome evil with good, trusting Your perfect justice and mercy. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, amen.

We hear how frustrating today was for you, and it makes sense you feel pissed off. Being lied to right to your face feels disrespectful, like your dignity was dismissed, and that kind of hurt naturally brings anger with it.

Anger itself is not wrong, it is a signal that something unjust happened. What matters is what we do with it afterwards. When we replay the lie over and over in our minds, that resentment and bitterness can start to eat at us more than it changes the other person. It can help to name that gap between how you wished you had been treated and how you actually were treated, and to be honest with God about it.

When you have a quiet moment tonight, it might help to give yourself some space before responding to them. You could write down exactly what happened and how it made you feel, then bring that page to God in prayer and leave the outcome with Him. If you can, talk it through with one trusted, level-headed person who will listen without stirring the anger higher.

Father, we bring this hurt and anger to You. You saw what happened today and You know how heavy it feels to be lied to. We ask You to calm this heart tonight, to bring peace where there is frustration, and to give wisdom for any next conversation. Help our friend to rest and to trust You with justice and healing. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Your words carry the heat of a fresh wound, and it is right to name it plainly. To be lied to face to face is a bitter thing, for it adds betrayal to falsehood, and the soul naturally rises up and cries out for justice. Our Lord Himself knew this sting, for He was betrayed with a kiss, and the Psalms were fulfilled in Him when a familiar friend lifted up his heel against Him. He is able to sympathize with you in this very point, for He has felt the treason itself and knows how black it is.

Yet hear what the Word says concerning vengeance. The day of vengeance is in the heart of God, and it fell not upon His enemies but upon His own Son when He stood as our Surety. Vengeance smote His head that mercy might come to us, and now it is the year of the redeemed, the acceptable year of the Lord. The Lord does not call you to carry the sword of vengeance in your own hand, nor to cherish the thought that God will get them after your own desire. Vengeance belongs to Him, and His justice is perfect, while our anger, if nursed, becomes a fire that consumes our own peace.

There is a more excellent way set before you. Scripture says, there is forgiveness with God, that He may be feared. It is a divine forgiveness, surprising and complete, and it is given to those who have nothing to pay. If you have tasted that forgiveness, who have been forgiven so great a debt, you are called to forgive as you have been forgiven. The most splendid vengeance you can ever have is to do good to them that do you evil, and to speak well of them that speak ill of you, thereby overcoming evil with good.

Do you tremble even now with anger and desire to be right before God in this matter. Bring your anger itself to Him in confession. Ask Him to forgive the heat that would seek its own revenge, and to give you a heart that leaves the judgment with Him. Pray not that He would strike them for your sake, but that He would do what is just and merciful, that if it be His will He would bring them to see their falsehood and to repent, and that He would keep your own heart from hardness.

May the Lord help you to release this burden into His hands today, to seek His peace which passes understanding, and to walk in that forgiveness which He continues daily to bestow upon His people through Jesus Christ. I will pray that He quiets your spirit, guards your lips, heals the hurt of this deceit, and forms in you the likeness of Him who when He was reviled, reviled not again.
