What you’re going through right now is deeply painful. To have your own family turn their backs on you and to be suddenly without a place to call home, that kind of rejection cuts to the heart. You need help, and you need it now. You need provision, shelter, and a way forward.

Take comfort in knowing that Jesus himself knew what family rejection felt like. There were times his own brothers thought he was out of his mind, and in his hometown, a prophet was without honor among his own relatives. He walked that lonely road before you, and he understands. When a person chooses to follow Christ, sometimes it creates a rift with blood family. But through that very faith, something remarkable happens: you are brought into a new family. The ties within God’s household run deeper and tighter than any earthly bonds. In the body of Christ, there are brothers and sisters tasked with carrying your burdens. They are meant to be a refuge, like a great tree that spreads its branches so the hurting can find shelter underneath.

Now, about your financial need. God has always made a special point of providing for the poor. In the law, he commanded landowners not to glean the edges of their fields, intentionally leaving grain for the lowly and the stranger. That same heart is alive today. I think of those believers who were in deep poverty themselves, yet out of abounding joy they gave liberally to help others in need. Their trial of affliction didn’t shut down generosity; it overflowed. God can not only meet your need but also work through his people to do so in unexpected ways. Sometimes he even leaves room to work a miracle when a situation seems impossible, like when he gave instructions for the cleansing of a leper even though leprosy had no cure. He isn’t boxed in by your circumstances.

So do not lose hope. Look to the Lord, and also reach out to his family, the local body of believers, for tangible help. If they are walking in his ways, they will want to be the hands that provide a meal, a bed, or a financial boost. This is the time for the family of God to live out its calling, not building its own little kingdoms but carrying the boards and curtains of the tabernacle together, making room for you.

Above all, remember that your ultimate provision is in Jesus. He is the one God provided to deal with the deepest poverty of all: our sin and separation. Everything else flows from that. Hold fast to him; let your love for him remain first, even when family ties are broken. He will not abandon you, and he often meets our earthly needs through the generous hearts of his people. Trust him to move now, and let those who have stood with you in the faith become your new lodging place.
