Beloved of All
I am carrying a deep hurt and facing a problem in my relationship with my brother, ###. My desire is to forgive and for the relationship to be restored. He is perhaps the most difficult person, and this the most challenging relationship, I have ever known. Yet, this broken relationship and the hurt in my heart stand as a barrier to drawing closer to God. Let us pray that God helps me to truly forgive completely—freeing me from hurt and negative thoughts—so that my heart may be pure and at peace, in the name of Jesus Christ! Let us pray that God grants me wisdom and intervenes to resolve this issue, aligning the relationship with His will, in the name of Jesus Christ! Let us pray that God heals my heart and soul and protects me from further hurt, in the name of Jesus Christ! Let us pray that God accomplishes His work in my brother ###, so that he may become more spiritually mature, more obedient to God, more loving, and more compassionate, in the name of Jesus Christ! Thank you... God bless you!

We hear the depth of your hurt and we join with you in bringing this painful relationship with your brother before the Lord, for we know how heavy a broken family bond can weigh on the heart and how it can feel like a barrier between you and God. Your desire to forgive completely and to see this relationship restored and aligned with His will is beautiful and reflects the work of the Holy Spirit in you, even in the midst of great difficulty.

The Word calls us to a forgiveness that mirrors what we have received in Christ, which is not always easy when the other person is difficult and the wounds are deep. We are reminded in Ephesians 4:32 to be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you, and in Colossians 3:13 bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any, even as Christ forgave you, so you also do. Jesus also teaches us in Matthew 6:14-15, For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. This is not to burden you with guilt but to show that forgiveness is the path to freedom for your own heart, releasing you from the weight of hurt and negative thoughts that keep you from peace. Forgiveness does not mean the hurt was not real or that trust is instantly restored, but it is a choice to release bitterness into God's hands and to allow Him to purify your heart.

We also understand your longing for wisdom and for God to intervene. He promises in James 1:5, But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. And we cling to Romans 12:18, If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men, which reminds us that we are responsible for our part in pursuing peace, while trusting God with what we cannot control in the other person. Your desire to draw closer to God is not hindered beyond His ability to heal, for He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds in Psalm 147:3, and He promises in Psalm 51:10, Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me.

We pray together with you now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace and we lift up this dear one who is carrying deep hurt. Lord, You see the pain, the negative thoughts, and the barrier this broken relationship has created. We ask that You pour out Your grace to enable complete forgiveness, not by human strength but by the power of Your love that has forgiven us so much. Wash away bitterness and heal the wounds of the heart and soul, and let the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, guard the heart and thoughts in Christ Jesus according to Philippians 4:7. Create a pure and peaceful heart that is free to draw near to You without hindrance.

Lord, we ask for wisdom beyond our own understanding. Guide every word, every response, and every decision regarding this brother. Intervene in this relationship according to Your perfect will, open doors for restoration where it is possible, and establish healthy boundaries that protect from further hurt while still reflecting Your love. We pray that You accomplish Your good work in the brother as well, that You would draw him closer to You, make him more spiritually mature, more obedient, more loving and more compassionate, conforming him to the image of Your Son. We trust that You are at work in both lives even when progress seems slow.

We thank You that You are the God who reconciles and restores, and we rest in Your faithful love to complete what You have begun. We ask all of this in the mighty and healing name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and our peace. Amen.

We encourage you to continue to bring this hurt daily to the Lord in prayer, to meditate on His forgiveness toward you, and to ask Him to renew your mind when negative thoughts arise. Keep seeking Him through His Word and allow His Spirit to soften and strengthen your heart. Trust His timing for restoration, remaining faithful in love and prayer for your brother while leaving the outcome in God's sovereign and loving hands.

We hear how heavy this has been to carry, and how much you want to be free of the hurt with your brother and to draw closer to God without this barrier between you. Wanting to forgive when the relationship has been so difficult is a tender and courageous desire, and we are praying with you for it.

One thing that has helped many who walk through this is understanding that forgiveness often happens in two parts. There is the clear decision to release the debt and not pursue revenge or avoidance, which you can make before your feelings catch up. Then there is the slower emotional healing, where resentment and fear are gradually softened and replaced with more peace and even compassion. That second part usually takes time, especially when there have been repeated hurts, and it does not mean your decision was not real if painful thoughts still come.

It may help to give that process a small, steady place in your day. When a hurtful memory or negative thought rises, quietly remind the Lord of your decision to forgive and ask Him to keep working in your heart that day. It can also help to talk with a trusted pastor or mature believer who knows you both, for wisdom about how to pursue peace while also keeping healthy boundaries. Reconciliation is different from forgiveness and needs willingness on both sides, so you can leave that outcome in God's hands as you stay faithful to your part.

Father, we lift this dear one to You and ask You to heal their heart and soul and guard them from further hurt. Grant wisdom for each next step with their brother and work in ###'s heart to draw him toward maturity, obedience and love. Bring peace that allows a pure heart before You. In Jesus' name, amen.

The hurt you carry has been heard, and it is a heavy burden to bear when the wound comes from one so near as a brother. You have well discerned that this broken fellowship stands as a barrier to drawing closer to God, for an unforgiving spirit clouds communion with Him who has forgiven so much. Hear then the blessed whisper which has comforted many a wounded soul, There is forgiveness with God. It is not a doubtful matter left for you to discover, but a certainty revealed in His Word. There is forgiveness, and it is to be found with Him against whom we have sinned, through Jesus Christ His Son who died, the Just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God.

Consider what manner of forgiveness this is. It is divine forgiveness, for the Lord Himself says, I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions. It is surprising forgiveness, so full and free that it seems too great to be true, yet it is true. It is complete forgiveness, as when a creditor releases the whole debt because the debtor has nothing to pay, and it is eternal forgiveness, for the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. He does not forgive and afterwards accuse. If you tremble under the weight of hurt and desire a pure heart, do as one did in dark distress who was told, Believe in the forgiveness of sins for yourself. Believe that for Christ's sake you are fully forgiven, and that same pardon becomes the fountain from which your own forgiveness must flow.

For the pattern set before us is this, Even as Christ forgave you, so also do you. After such forgiveness as the Lord has bestowed upon us, we should be wicked servants indeed if we should take our brother by the throat and say, Pay me what thou owest. Revenge is paltry, forgiveness is great minded. The most splendid vengeance you can have is to do good to them that do you evil and to speak well of them that speak ill of you. To forgive completely is not to deny the hurt, but to release the debt into the hands of the Lord's release, and to pray that He will change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before. So shall you be freed from hurt and from negative thoughts, and your heart be kept pure and at peace.

Healing and pardon are placed in happy conjunction in the gospel. The inhabitant shall not say, I am sick, for the people that dwell therein shall be forgiven their iniquity. The very leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is healing virtue. When Jesus healed the sick of the palsy He said, Son, be of good cheer, thy sins are forgiven thee, and pardon and healing were one.

Let us pray together. Let us pray that God will help you to truly forgive completely, releasing your brother even as you have been released in Christ, so that your heart may be cleansed and kept at peace. Let us pray that He will grant you wisdom and intervene to resolve this issue according to His will, for He is a generous Lawgiver who delights to make the crooked straight. Let us pray that He will heal your heart and soul and protect you from further hurt, causing the Sun of Righteousness to rise upon you with healing in His wings. And let us pray that He will accomplish His gracious work in your brother, that he may become more spiritually mature, more obedient to God, more loving and more compassionate, all in the name of Jesus Christ, with whom alone there is forgiveness and life.
