We hear your heart and we join with you in bringing your burdens before our Heavenly Father in Jesus' name. You are carrying a heavy load with your husband's struggles, your feelings of lowness, and the pressure of freelance work and bills, and we want to lift each of these before the Lord with you.
We pray first for your marriage, which God holds as holy and sacred, a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman. We know that moodiness and drinking can bring great pain and instability into a home. The Scripture warns us clearly about this, for it says do not be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit Ephesians 5:18 and wine is a mocker, strong drink a brawler, whoever is led astray by it is not wise Proverbs 20:1. Drunkenness is not God's will for your husband and we pray that the Lord will convict his heart, bring him to repentance, and deliver him from any dependence on alcohol. We pray that God will steady his moods, heal any underlying anger, anxiety or hurt, and fill him with the peace and self-control that comes from the Holy Spirit. We encourage you to continue to love your husband faithfully as his wife while not enabling sin, to speak truth to him in love, to set healthy and loving boundaries, and to seek godly counsel together from a pastor or biblical counselor if he is willing, so that your marriage may honor God and reflect Christ's love.
We also hear how low you feel and how discouraging it is to watch friends prosper while you struggle to pay bills. The Lord sees you and is near to you in this pain, for Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18. We cast all your worries on him, because he cares for you 1 Peter 5:7. We gently encourage you not to measure your worth or God's love for you by comparison to others. Comparison can lead to envy and discontent, but God calls us to learn contentment and trust in His provision, for we have learned in whatever state we are, to be content in it Philippians 4:11. Your value is not in your income but in being a beloved daughter of God, created with purpose and gifts.
For your work, we pray that God will open doors and bless the work of your hands as you labor diligently. Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men Colossians 3:23 and commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed Proverbs 16:3. We pray for successful projects and steady income, but even more we pray you will seek first God's Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well Matthew 6:33 for my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:19. Promotion and true success do not come only from effort or connections, for lifting up does not come from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south, but God is the judge Psalm 75:6-7. We pray He will grant you favor, wisdom, creativity, and clients who value your work, and that you will find peace in trusting His timing and His definition of success.
We notice you called upon the Lord in your request, and we want to remind you how precious it is that we can come to God only through Jesus Christ. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is by putting our faith in Jesus, His death and resurrection for our sins, that we have access to God's throne of grace and assurance of His help. We pray you are resting in Him as your Savior and Lord.
We pray together now for you.
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift this dear sister to You. You know her husband, You know his moods and his drinking, and we ask You to bring conviction, healing and deliverance. Replace unrest with Your peace and fill him with Your Spirit. Mend and strengthen this marriage for Your glory. Lord, lift our sister from this low place, comfort her heart, take away feelings of comparison and discouragement, and remind her how deeply she is loved and valued by You. Provide for her needs, bless the work of her hands, grant her successful projects and faithful income so she can pay her bills and use her gifts for You. Teach her to be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, to let her requests be made known to You Philippians 4:6-7. Let Your peace guard her heart and mind. We ask all this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus, our only hope and Savior, Amen.
