Husband

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up your husband and the struggles he is facing. The Word of God tells us in Ephesians 4:26-27, "Be angry, and don’t sin. Don’t let the sun go down on your wrath, and don’t give place to the devil." Anger that is not surrendered to God can open doors to the enemy, and we see how alcohol often fuels this fire, leading to destruction rather than peace. Proverbs 20:1 warns, "Wine is a mocker, and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise." We must rebuke the spirit of addiction and rage in Jesus' name, for these things do not align with the fruit of the Spirit, which is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).

Father God, we stand in the gap for this marriage and this man. We pray that You would break the chains of addiction that bind him. Lord, Your Word says in 1 Corinthians 10:13, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." We ask that You reveal the way of escape to him, that he may turn away from alcohol and find his strength in You alone. Soften his heart, Lord, and replace his anger with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). We declare that he is a new creation in Christ, and the old things have passed away—behold, all things have become new (2 Corinthians 5:17).

We also pray for you, dear sister in Christ. Marriage is a sacred covenant, and it is not easy to watch someone you love struggle. But remember, God is faithful, and He will never leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6). Lean on Him for your strength and wisdom. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths." We encourage you to continue praying without ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17) and to seek godly counsel if needed. Surround yourself with believers who can support and uplift you during this time.

Lord, we rebuke the enemy’s lies that tell this husband he is beyond help or that his anger and addiction are too great to overcome. We declare that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). We speak life and restoration over this marriage. May this husband come to know the depth of Your love and the power of Your grace, which is sufficient for him (2 Corinthians 12:9). We pray that he would surrender his struggles to You, for You are the only One who can truly set him free (John 8:36).

In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray for healing, deliverance, and transformation. May this family be a testimony of Your redeeming power, and may their home be filled with Your peace and presence. Amen.
