We thank you for sharing your heart and allowing us to pray with you. We have heard your burden for your husband and for your work, and we bring both before the Lord together.
We pray for your husband, that the Lord would deliver him from drinking and give him a desire for sobriety and clarity. Scripture warns that wine can lead us astray and calls us to be filled instead with the Spirit, with self control and a clear mind. We ask God to give him strength to turn from this habit, to hate what harms his body and his family, and to find his comfort and joy in Christ rather than in drink. We also pray that God would draw his heart toward home, that he would find delight in spending time with his family and in the good gifts God has given through simple, wholesome fun together. A husband is called to be the head and protector of his home, caring for his wife and family with love as Christ cares for the Church, and we pray your husband will grow into that calling more and more.
We encourage you to continue in faithful love and gentleness toward him. A wife's quiet strength, meekness, and steady propriety often does more to win a husband than many words. Continue to show respect, to pray for him, to speak truth with kindness, and to invite him warmly into family life without nagging or harshness. At the same time, seek wise help around you, a trusted pastor or mature believers who can walk with both of you, encourage accountability, and support him toward freedom from alcohol.
We also lift up your work to the Lord. We pray that He who sees your diligence and your needs would open doors for honest freelance work, provide for you through the labor of your hands, and give you favor with those who can employ you. We ask for wisdom as you seek opportunities, for perseverance in doing good work unto the Lord, and for peace as you trust His provision day by day.
Let us pray. Heavenly Father, we come through Jesus Christ alone, our only Savior and hope. Have mercy on this husband and set him free from dependence on drink. Renew his mind, strengthen his will, and turn his affections toward You and toward his family. Help this couple to grow in love, faithfulness, and unity, living out the lifelong covenant of marriage as You designed it. And Father, provide for this dear sister in her work. Open the right doors, supply what she needs, and let her labor be fruitful and honoring to You. Sustain them both with Your grace and keep them close to You. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
