We lift this burden before the Lord with heavy hearts, knowing that the struggles of addiction and spiritual drift are deeply painful for both the one caught in them and those who love them. The request for a husband’s deliverance from alcohol and restoration to faith is one that aligns with God’s heart for repentance, healing, and renewal. Scripture tells us, "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit" (Psalm 34:18 WEB). We stand in agreement with this prayer, believing that God hears the cries of His children and is mighty to save.
First, we must address the bondage of alcohol, which is not merely a habit but a stronghold that can steal joy, health, and spiritual vitality. The Bible warns, "Do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit" (Ephesians 5:18 WEB). Drunkenness opens the door to sin, weakens the body, and dulls the spirit to the conviction of the Holy Spirit. We rebuke the spirit of addiction in the name of Jesus Christ, declaring that it has no place in this marriage or this home. We pray that the Lord would break every chain, remove every craving, and replace the desire for alcohol with a thirst for righteousness. "He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions" (Psalm 107:20 WEB).
We also pray for this husband’s physical health, asking God to grant him the discipline and strength to lose weight and care for the temple of the Holy Spirit. Gluttony and poor health can be just as much a snare as other sins, and we ask the Lord to convict him gently but firmly of the need to honor God with his body. "Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s" (1 Corinthians 6:19-20 WEB).
Most importantly, we pray for his spiritual awakening. A heart turned away from God is a heart in need of revival. We ask the Lord to soften his heart, remove any hardness or rebellion, and draw him back into a vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ. "Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a right spirit within me" (Psalm 51:10 WEB). May he experience the love of Christ in such a profound way that he cannot help but surrender fully to Him. We declare that no one is beyond the reach of God’s grace, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9 WEB).
For the wife, we pray for provision and peace. The struggle to make ends meet can be overwhelming, and we ask God to open doors of opportunity for freelance work that align with His will. "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19 WEB). We also pray for her strength and faith as she waits on the Lord. It is not easy to watch a loved one wander, but she must remember that her hope is not in her husband’s strength but in God’s faithfulness. "But those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint" (Isaiah 40:31 WEB).

We encourage this wife to pray boldly in the name of Jesus, for His name carries authority over every stronghold and every need.
