Husband addiction

Please pray for my husband. He is struggling with alcohol and drugs. He is trying to work in his mom’s home out of state but he is battling abusing while he is there and i am afraid for him

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up your husband and your marriage in prayer. Addiction is a fierce battle, but we know that nothing is impossible with God. The scriptures tell us, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB). Though the struggle is real, God provides a way out, we pray your husband clings to that escape with every fiber of his being.

Father, we ask You to break the chains of addiction in his life. Your Word declares, "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim release to the captives, recovering of sight to the blind, to deliver those who are crushed" (Luke 4:18 WEB). Lord, we claim this promise over him, set him free from the grip of alcohol and drugs. Surround him with godly accountability, wisdom, and strength to resist temptation. Soften his heart to seek You above all else, for You alone can satisfy the deepest longings of his soul.

We also lift up your marriage, dear sister. Addiction strains even the strongest covenants, but God is able to restore what has been broken. "Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it" (Psalm 127:1 WEB). We pray for unity, trust, and healing between you both. Give you wisdom in how to support him without enabling sin, and grant him humility to receive your love and correction. May your home be a place of peace, not chaos, and may your marriage reflect Christ’s love for the Church.

If there are areas where sin has taken root, whether in his choices or in how this struggle has affected your relationship, we rebuke the enemy’s lies and ask for repentance and restoration. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9 WEB). Lord, lead him to true repentance and a transformed life.

We stand in the gap for him, declaring that he is more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus (Romans 8:37). Strengthen his spirit, renew his mind, and fill him with hope. We pray for divine intervention, whether through godly counsel, a Christian recovery program, or a miraculous touch from Your hand. You are the God who makes all things new (Revelation 21:5), and we trust You to do a mighty work in his life.

In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

We hear the ache and fear in your words, and we’re holding you and your husband up in prayer. It’s a heavy burden to carry, watching someone you love struggle with alcohol and drugs, especially from a distance, where you can’t reach him or see for yourself how he’s doing each day. That feeling of being far away while his battle is happening somewhere else can be its own kind of exhaustion. We’re so glad you reached out.

One of the most practical things you can do right now is to get support for yourself, a trusted pastor, a wise friend, or a counselor who understands addiction. You’re walking through this too, and you need a steady place to bring your fear and grief without having to manage it all alone. It’s not selfish or disloyal; it’s how you stay whole and grounded enough to love him well over the long haul. Sometimes the most helpful thing a spouse can do is to strengthen their own footing so they’re not pulled under by the chaos addiction brings into a home. If you feel unsure where to start, your church office or a local Christian counseling center can often point you to someone.

When you do talk with your husband, simple, honest connection tends to go further than pressure or panic. Letting him know you love him and you’re praying for him, without trying to control the outcome from miles away, keeps the door open for when he’s ready to reach for help. His path to sobriety is his own to walk, but you don’t have to walk your side of this road in isolation.

Lord Jesus, we lift up this husband to You right now. You see him where he is, and You know every hidden struggle he’s facing with alcohol and drugs. We ask for his safety, keep him from harm in moments of impaired judgment, and surround him with people who will speak truth into his life. Give this wife courage for each day, wisdom to know what is hers to carry and what to release, and a deep, steady peace that holds even when circumstances don’t change quickly. Bring healing to their marriage and draw her husband toward freedom. In Your name, Jesus, amen.

The arrow of the Lord’s deliverance is not yet spent, though your husband’s bonds seem strong. You tremble for him as he toils far from you, caught in the snares of drink and drugs, yet remember, the Lord is his true Husband, faithful beyond all human vows. His compassions fail not, and He has promised to bring His wandering ones forth from the pit. I have learned that when the night is blackest, the whisper of coming deliverance often steals into the heart. Pray on, with a wife’s holy tenacity, for your cries are the arrows that prayer shoots toward heaven. God works through human instrumentality, and you are that bow in His hand for your husband.

Sin’s mastery is a dark tyranny, but deliverance from its power is as much the Lord’s work as deliverance from its guilt. When the Lamb was slain, the ransom was found, not devised by men, but by the Infinite Mercy of the Father. That ransom covers every slave of appetite and every prisoner of despair. Doubt not that God has marked the hour of his release, for the clock of mercy strikes according to an eternal decree. Though your husband be far off, think how Jacob crossed Jabbok expecting to meet a bloodthirsty Esau, yet found a brother’s embrace. The Lord can turn the very seat of temptation into a place of weeping and prayer.

Do not measure the future by the present darkness. The inheritance of affliction yields a harvest of deep gratitude. When this deliverance comes, you both shall declare the works of the Lord. What knowledge of the sea has a man who only strolls the beach? But you, storm-tossed as you are, will one day stand on the shore and praise Him who brought you through. He chastens sorely, yet He will not allow the righteous to be utterly crushed. Urge your husband, even from afar, to look alone to Christ for sanctification, for there is no other arm that can break the chains. The Lord who brought Israel forth with silver and gold can enrich your home with a husband redeemed and restored, a living monument to free grace. Until that hour, rest your soul on the Ransom found, and let your faith be the echo of heaven’s decree: “Deliver him from going down to the pit; I have found a ransom.”

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The suffering you endure for your husband is great, and the fear you carry is heavy. Yet know that our Lord Jesus sees the depth of any man’s bondage, just as He knew the Samaritan woman’s full story, and He alone can break every chain. The poison of drink and drugs is not beyond the power of His Cross, which has quenched deadly things and thrown open the very gates of hell. Pray, then, without ceasing, entrusting your husband to the only Physician who can heal the soul’s sickness.

Let your conduct toward him be marked not by bitter reproaches but by the quiet, pure gentleness of a godly wife. Even if he seems entirely given over to vice, you will gain nothing by outward finery or worldly allurements; these only teach men to despise self-restraint. Rather, clothe yourself inwardly with chastity, reverence, and a meek spirit. This is the ornament precious in God’s sight, and by it many a profligate husband has been won without a word. Remember the holy order of marriage: though he is struggling, the covenant binds you until death, and your subjection to him remains a path of honor, not humiliation. Do not fight, but conquer by your upright and quiet conduct.

Above all, fear not poverty or earthly harm. The righteous one who does no evil rests in the light of God’s safety. Your husband, while he walks in the darkness of this vice, separates himself from that safety. So let your prayers be joined with tears, that he may turn from the cups that quench no thirst and find the true fountain of life, Jesus Christ. I shall pray with you that the God of all mercy will snatch him from the pit, grant him the fear of the Lord, and restore him to you sober, chaste, and walking in righteousness.

Your heartache is understandable, and I am praying with you for your husband’s deliverance. You fear for him because you love him, and that love reflects the covenant you share. But fear, left unchecked, can eat away at faith until we find ourselves reacting in panic rather than resting in God’s care. Faith and fear are mutually exclusive. When one fills your heart, the other gets pushed out. So right now, ask the Lord to replace that suffocating fear with a steady trust in His power to save and restore.

Remember how many years Zacharias prayed for a son, and the angel finally told him, “Your prayer is heard.” God did not forget those long years. Your persistence in prayer for your husband is not wasted. Keep bringing him before the throne, even when nothing seems to change. Do not let a quiet despair convince you that God is not listening.

What your husband is chasing in alcohol and drugs is a counterfeit peace. People search for relaxation, contentment, and escape in substances, but they find only destruction. The Holy Spirit alone gives genuine peace, rest, and fulfillment. The enemy wants to keep your husband deceived into thinking relief lies at the bottom of a bottle or in a pill, but you can pray earnestly that his eyes would be opened to the difference between a cheap substitute and the living water of Jesus. Pray that the hollowness of his addiction becomes so clear that he grows sick of it.

True wisdom begins with fearing the Lord, and the fear of the Lord means hating evil. Pray that God would plant in your husband a holy revulsion toward the sin that is destroying him. The Scriptures promise that when we depart from evil, it brings health to our body and nourishment to our bones. That is what your husband desperately needs, but he cannot manufacture it himself. Ask God to do whatever is necessary to bring him to the end of himself, so he will learn to hate what he now clings to.

While he is struggling, do not let the enemy tempt you to give up on your marriage or to hold bitterness in your heart. The wife has a tremendous influence. Even an unbelieving husband is sanctified by a believing wife, and your faithfulness can be a steady, quiet witness of God’s grace. This does not mean you must submit to anything that violates your conscience before God, but it does mean you can guard your tongue, refuse to nag or manipulate out of fear, and instead quietly entrust your husband into the Lord’s hands.

I will continue to pray that your husband returns to you whole and free. Ask the Lord to break the chains of this bondage, protect him from harm while he is away, and give you supernatural peace that surpasses understanding right now.
