Beloved of All
Becoming very self-centered, hard-hearted. Not exercising faith, worldliness has entered my heart & mind. Covetousness, envy, selfish ambitions. Lord turn my gaze to The Lord. Also against excessive superstition may I not think too highly of myself but humble myself.

We hear your cry for help, dear brother or sister in Christ, and we join with you in turning to the Lord with repentant and humble hearts. Your honesty about the struggles of self-centeredness, hard-heartedness, and the creeping influence of worldliness is a crucial first step toward restoration. The Scriptures warn us clearly about the dangers you describe: *"For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing"* (James 3:16). Covetousness and envy are not merely personal failings—they are idolatry, as Colossians 3:5 reminds us: *"Put to death therefore your members which are on the earth: sexual immorality, uncleanness, depraved passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry."*

The world’s values—self-promotion, materialism, and the pursuit of personal ambition—can easily take root in our hearts if we are not vigilant. But the Lord calls us to a different standard: *"Do not love the world or the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, the Father’s love isn’t in him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—isn’t the Father’s, but is the world’s"* (1 John 2:15-16). When we fix our eyes on earthly things, our hearts grow hard, and our faith weakens. But when we turn our gaze to Christ, He softens our hearts and renews our minds.

Your plea to be freed from excessive superstition and pride is also deeply important. Superstition often stems from a desire to control outcomes or seek security outside of God’s sovereignty. But the Lord calls us to trust in Him alone: *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight"* (Proverbs 3:5-6). Pride, too, is a snare that elevates us above God’s will. Scripture is clear: *"God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble"* (James 4:6). Humility is not thinking less of ourselves but thinking of ourselves less—fixing our eyes on Christ and His sufficiency.

Let us pray together now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, acknowledging the ways we have allowed the world to creep into our minds and harden our spirits. Lord, we repent of our self-centeredness, our envy, and our selfish ambitions. Forgive us for seeking fulfillment in anything other than You. We confess that we have not exercised faith as we should, and we ask You to renew our trust in You. Turn our gaze back to You, Lord, that we may see Your glory and find our joy in You alone.

Father, we renounce the pride that has lifted us up in our own eyes and the superstitions that have drawn our focus away from Your sovereignty. Humble us, Lord, and teach us to walk in dependence on You. Purify our hearts from the love of this world and fill us with a hunger for Your Word and Your presence. Help us to die to self daily and to live for Christ, who gave Himself for us.

We ask for the strength to resist the temptations of covetousness and envy, and to celebrate the blessings You have given to others. Let Your peace guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus, and may Your Holy Spirit empower us to walk in humility and faith. We surrender our ambitions, our desires, and our very lives to You, trusting that Your plans for us are good.

In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer, we pray. Amen.

Brother or sister, take heart—God is faithful to restore those who turn to Him in repentance. The process of humbling ourselves may feel painful, but it is the path to true freedom and joy. *"Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time"* (1 Peter 5:6). As you seek the Lord, immerse yourself in His Word, surround yourself with godly community, and fix your eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith. The battle against worldliness and pride is ongoing, but Christ has already won the victory. Walk in that truth, and let His grace transform you from the inside out.

We hear you, dear friend, and we're right there with you, turning to the Lord with humble hearts. It's so easy to get caught up in the world's ways, isn't it? Self-centeredness, hardness of heart, even superstitions can creep in without us even realizing it. But the good news is, the Lord is faithful to meet us right where we are, just as we are.

Let's not forget, Jesus said, "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven" (Matthew 5:3). Humility isn't about thinking less of ourselves, but about thinking of ourselves less. It's about fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.

Let's pray together:

Lord, we come before You today, acknowledging the ways we've let the world influence our hearts. We confess our self-centeredness, our envy, our covetousness. We've not loved You with all our hearts, and we're sorry. Please forgive us and help us turn our gaze back to You.

Help us to trust in Your sovereignty, Lord. Help us to let go of our pride and our superstitions, and to rest in Your love for us. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit, that we might walk in humility and faith.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Remember, friend, God is in the business of transforming hearts. Keep seeking Him, keep trusting Him, and watch as He works in you. You're not alone in this. We're in this together.

We want to thank you for the humility and honesty it took to share your heart with us, allowing us to stand alongside you in prayer during this time of spiritual struggle. It is a sacred privilege to lift your burdens before the Lord, asking Him to soften your heart, renew your faith, and draw your gaze back to His perfect love and truth.

We have been praying that the Holy Spirit would convict and cleanse you of worldliness, covetousness, envy, and selfish ambition—those subtle but destructive influences that can so easily take root. We asked the Lord to help you release any excessive superstition or pride, replacing them with a spirit of humility and dependence on Him alone. Most of all, we prayed that you would experience the freedom and joy that come from fixing your eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.

If the Lord has answered these prayers in any way—if you’ve sensed His presence drawing you back, if your heart feels lighter, or if you’ve found strength to turn away from these struggles—we would be so encouraged to hear your praise report. Your testimony could be a blessing to others walking a similar path.

If, however, you’re still wrestling with these things, please don’t hesitate to post your request again. We are here to continue praying with you, believing that God is at work even when we can’t yet see the fullness of His answer. He is faithful, and His grace is more than sufficient for every battle you face.

May the Lord bless you with His peace as you seek Him with a surrendered heart. May He lift your eyes to His promises and fill you with the assurance that He is making all things new. We stand with you in faith, trusting that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion.

In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.
