Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We hear your request before the Lord and we want to pray with you and also share some truth from Scripture with you in love.

We must gently and lovingly address the heart of this prayer, because God cares far more about the condition of our heart than our outward appearance. You have asked to be made the most handsome man on the planet, tall and muscular with fair skin, and to be made healthy, wealthy and wise. While it is not wrong to desire health or to steward the body God has given us, we must rebuke the spirit of vanity, pride, and discontentment that is in this request. To want to be the most handsome above all others is pride, and to ask God to change your complexion because you are not content with how He made you is to say that His creation was not good.

The Scripture tells us But Yahweh said to Samuel, Don't look on his face, or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for I don't see as man sees. For man looks at the outward appearance, but Yahweh looks at the heart. 1 Samuel 16:7. We also read I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well. Psalm 139:14. God made you intentionally, with your height, your build, and your complexion exactly as He willed for His glory. To desire fair skin as if it is better than what God has given you does not honor Him, for God shows no partiality and made all peoples in His image.

We also hear you ask for health, wealth and wisdom. Wisdom is a noble thing to seek when it is godly wisdom, for If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. James 1:5. We encourage you to seek wisdom that begins with the fear of the Lord. Health is a blessing, and we should care for our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit through discipline, good stewardship, exercise and self control, but not for vanity or to be exalted before men. Wealth, however, is not promised to us and the love of it is dangerous, for For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. 1 Timothy 6:10 and we are taught But godliness with contentment is great gain. 1 Timothy 6:6. The Lord calls us to seek first His Kingdom and righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33, not to seek to be exalted as the most handsome or the wealthiest.

We also notice your prayer was addressed to Almighty God but did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We must share with you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God and it is only by His name that we can be saved. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. If you have not yet put your trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, we urge you to confess Him as Lord, for if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9.

So we pray together for you in Jesus name.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We thank You that You made this man fearfully and wonderfully in Your image. Forgive him for discontentment and for seeking vanity and worldly exaltation. Create in him a clean heart and renew a right spirit within him. Help him to find his identity and worth not in outward handsomeness, height, or skin color, but in being Your child. Teach him true humility and contentment, that he may learn in whatever state he is, to be content. Philippians 4:11. Grant him godly wisdom that comes from above, and help him to steward his body in health not for pride but to serve You with strength and energy. Provide for his needs according to Your riches and keep him from the love of money, that he would seek first Your kingdom. Draw him to Jesus, that he would know salvation and have full access to Your throne of grace. Transform his desires to desire what You desire, and let his life reflect inner beauty, for Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears Yahweh, she shall be praised, and likewise a man who fears Yahweh. Proverbs 31:30 and Let your beauty be not just the outward adorning, but in the hidden person of the heart, in the incorruptible adornment of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God. 1 Peter 3:3-4. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.

We encourage you to turn from seeking to be exalted in the eyes of the world and instead seek to be conformed to the image of Christ. Take care of your health with discipline, seek wisdom in the Word of God daily, work diligently as unto the Lord and trust Him to provide, and rest in the confident assurance that you are already wonderfully made by His hand.

We hear the honesty in your prayer and the longing behind it to feel confident, healthy, and at peace in your own skin. Wanting to be strong, to have wisdom for the future, and to feel good about how you look are very human desires, and we are glad you brought them to God.

Sometimes the picture we hold of being the most handsome or having a different complexion or build can become a heavy burden. It can make it hard to see the dignity and worth you already have as someone made in God's image, exactly as He created you. He cares far more about who you are becoming in character than about height or complexion, and learning to rest in that can bring a steadier kind of confidence than chasing an ideal image ever does.

If thoughts about appearance weigh on you often, it can help to talk openly with a trusted pastor or mentor about what healthy and wise look like day by day, and what it means to live as the person God already calls His own.

Father, we lift up this dear brother to You. Give him health and strength, clear wisdom for his steps, and a deep sense of Your love for him as he is. Help him to see himself with kindness and truth, and to grow in peace and wholeness in You. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

Your prayer has been laid before the Lord and before His people, and it calls for an answer in love and in truth.

The desire you express is for outward form and worldly increase, for comeliness of face and stature, for fairness of skin and fullness of wealth. Hear what the Scripture says, Turn away my eyes from beholding vanity and quicken me in Your way. There are divers kinds of vanity, and one of the most deceitful is that which fixes the heart upon the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches, or upon the admiration of our own person. Vanity of vanities, said the preacher, all is vanity, as he looked at everything beneath the sun. And we may say of everything short of Christ, turn away my eyes from beholding it, lest my heart should love it.

Remember that a man's contentment is in his mind, not in the extent of his possessions. Alexander with all the world at his feet cries for another world to conquer. Contentment is one of the flowers of heaven, and if we would have it, it must be cultivated, and it is cultivated simply and exclusively by faith in the Son of God. No tallness of stature and no fairness of countenance can give peace to the soul. The beauty that endures is Christ formed within, and the riches that abide are the unsearchable riches of Christ.

Humility is to make a right estimate of oneself. It is not to think less of oneself than truth allows, but to annihilate self and to exalt the Lord Jesus Christ as all in all. There is no wisdom in self exaltation. To pray for preeminence in appearance above all men is to walk toward pride, and pride goeth before destruction. Humility is the fit attitude of prayer. Jacob could not rightly pray until he had stripped off the robes of self justification and stood disrobed before the infinite majesty of the Most High. Any other attitude but that of humility would be most unbecoming and presumptuous in the presence of the Most High. Your faith will not murder your humility, and your humility will not stab at your faith, the two go hand in hand to heaven.

Therefore we cannot ask God to grant vanity, nor to bless the love of it, for that would be to ask Him to turn your eyes toward what He bids you turn from. Rather we will pray for what your soul most needs.

We pray that the Lord would quicken you in His way, that He would give you health of soul first, and such bodily health as may fit you to serve Him. We pray that He would make you wise, not with the wisdom of this world, but with that wisdom which begins in the fear of the Lord. We pray that He would make you wealthy toward God, rich in faith and good works. We pray that He would give you contentment in whatever state He has placed you, and a humble heart that rejoices to be made in His image and to bear His likeness in holiness. We pray that He would show you your need of Christ, for without Him you can do nothing, and that you may examine yourself whether you be in the faith and find Christ dwelling in you.

Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all things needful shall be added unto you. Look not upon outward appearance, for the Lord looketh on the heart, and seek that inward adorning which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.
