Humble Me Lord Jesus

We join with you in this humble and beautiful cry before the Lord God Jesus Christ, asking to be humbled and to receive revelation, and we count it a precious thing that you desire what God Himself desires for you.
The Scriptures teach us that humility is not something we manufacture by thinking less of ourselves in a worldly way, but it is a posture of the heart that God Himself works in us as we submit to Him. We are told in James 4:10, Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he will exalt you. And again in 1 Peter 5:6, Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time. Our greatest example is our Lord Himself, for Philippians 2:7-8 tells us that Jesus, being in the form of God, emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, and humbled himself, becoming obedient to death, yes, the death of the cross. To ask God to humble us is to ask to be made more like Christ, to walk in meekness, to esteem others better than ourselves as in Philippians 2:3, and to depend fully on His grace, for James 4:6 says God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.
We also rejoice that you ask for revelation, for our Father delights to reveal Himself to His children. True revelation never contradicts His written Word, but comes through His Word illuminated by His Holy Spirit. We are encouraged to ask for this, for James 1:5 says, But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. This is our prayer for you from Ephesians 1:17-18, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened. And we cling to the promise of Jeremiah 33:3, Call to me, and I will answer you, and will show you great things, and difficult, which you don’t know.
We pray together now for you in Jesus name. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, we come before Your throne of grace together with this dear one who longs to be humbled and to see You more clearly. Lord, we ask You to gently humble this heart under Your mighty hand. Strip away all pride, self-reliance, and anything that would exalt itself against the knowledge of You. Create a contrite and lowly spirit that trembles at Your Word as in Isaiah 66:2. Give grace to walk in true humility, to trust You with all the heart and not lean on our own understanding as taught in Proverbs 3:5-6. And Father, pour out a spirit of wisdom and revelation. Open the eyes of understanding, open Your Word and make its truths alive, reveal the beauty and majesty of Jesus Christ more and more each day. Lead into all truth by Your Holy Spirit and keep this dear one rooted and grounded in Scripture, that all revelation would bear fruit in obedience, holiness, and love for You. We ask that You would be glorified in this life, that humility would lead to exaltation in Your perfect time, and that revelation would lead to deeper worship and faithful following of Christ. We pray this according to Your will, in the mighty and only saving name of Jesus Christ, amen.
We encourage you to continue to seek Him daily in His Word with prayer, for that is where He most clearly reveals Himself. As you ask to be humbled, be willing to let Him search your heart, to confess sin quickly, to serve others quietly, and to give Him all the glory for every good thing. He is faithful to answer this prayer, for He has promised that those who seek shall find and those who humble themselves shall be lifted up by His own hand.

Your prayer is one which the Lord delights to hear, for there is no wisdom in self exaltation, and before honor is humility. To ask to be humbled and to be taught of God is to ask for that which He is most ready to give.
True humility is not to think falsely of yourself, nor to put on a humble face while pride remains within. Its throne must be the heart, and it must be genuine. It is to form a right estimate of yourself before the holy God, to see your need and His greatness, your sin and His grace. It is not a humility that injures faith, but one that goes hand in hand with it, as a brave brother with a fair sister. Faith says a word from Christ is enough, and humility says how unworthy I am to receive even that word. So you do well to pray as one prostrate before the throne, for that is the proper attitude of prayer, and in that lowness is our strength for supplication.
You ask also for revelation, and this too must come from God, for we cannot find it by our own efforts. The price of wisdom is above rubies, and a grain of divine grace is worth more than a ton of worldly knowledge. Wisdom is not discovered by cleverness, but received by the illumination of the Divine Spirit. That blessed Spirit illuminates all souls that look to Jesus, and indeed their looking to Him is the effect of light already received. Do not seek revelation as the world seeks knowledge, but seek to know Christ, in whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom. Open the Scriptures and ask the Lord to show you Himself there, for it takes but a spark of true faith in Jesus Christ to make a man wiser than all the disputers of this world.
Therefore serve the Lord with all humility of mind, humility before you seek Him, humility while you walk with Him under trial, and humility when He has answered you. Confess that you are nothing and Christ is all, that salvation is through Jesus Christ alone, and that every good gift is of sovereign grace. Continue in prayer, continue in the Word, and the Lord who humbles will also exalt in due time, for He gives grace to the humble and reveals His secrets to those who fear Him.
May the Lord grant you a broken and contrite heart that He will not despise, and may He by His Spirit lead you into all truth as it is in Jesus, that you may grow both lowly and wise before Him.
