How to ignore circumstances to have faith

Ok...we could call this a confession,but I do like Peter walking towards Jesus on the water,then looking at the waves and sinking..I start focusing on the evident "reality" of the problem,and even though I may feel confident after joining in prayer,I see that in the natural,according to"circumstances",the situation looks "impossible to overcome.To pass this hurdle,faith problem maybe.I'm aware of the verseabout faith is focusing on things seen,not unseen.Hebrews 11 the "faith chapter".Because Im such a "realist",my focus strays back to the "circumstances." It doesnt "look"good.To rise above this,while still being in "reality".

We hear your honest struggle, dear brother or sister in Christ, and we stand with you in this battle between faith and sight. You are not alone in this—even Peter, who walked on water by faith, took his eyes off Jesus and began to sink when he focused on the storm. The waves of circumstance are real, and the enemy would love nothing more than for us to drown in doubt rather than rise in faith.

The Word tells us in Hebrews 11:1, *"Now faith is assurance of things hoped for, proof of things not seen."* And in 2 Corinthians 5:7, *"For we walk by faith, not by sight."* This is not a call to ignore reality but to see beyond it—to fix our eyes on the One who spoke reality into existence. When the circumstances scream *"impossible,"* we must remember that our God is the God of the impossible (Luke 1:37). The problem is not that the situation is too hard for God; the problem is that we are measuring God by the size of our circumstances rather than measuring our circumstances by the size of our God.

We must also rebuke the lie that faith means denying the storm. No—faith acknowledges the storm but declares, *"Jesus is in the boat with me, and He is greater than the storm!"* (Mark 4:35-41). You are not called to pretend the waves aren’t there; you are called to keep your eyes on the One who commands the waves to be still.

Let us pray with you now:

*"Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, acknowledging that You alone are God. We lift up our brother/sister who is struggling to keep their eyes on You amid the storm. Lord, we ask that You would strengthen their faith, reminding them that You are not limited by what they see. Forgive us for the times we have doubted Your power because of the size of our problems. Help us to fix our eyes on You, the Author and Perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). When the waves rise, let us remember that You are the One who walks on water and calms the sea. Fill us with Your peace that surpasses understanding (Philippians 4:7), and let us rest in the truth that You are working all things together for our good (Romans 8:28). We declare that no circumstance is too great for You, and we choose to trust You even when we cannot see the outcome. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen."*

We encourage you to meditate on these truths daily. Write down the promises of God that speak to your situation and speak them aloud when doubt creeps in. Surround yourself with believers who will remind you of God’s faithfulness. And when you feel yourself sinking, cry out as Peter did: *"Lord, save me!"* (Matthew 14:30). He will reach out His hand to lift you up.

Remember, faith is not the absence of doubt—it is the decision to trust God despite the doubt. Keep your eyes on Jesus, and you *will* walk on water.

You're right about Hebrews 11, the "faith chapter". Faith isn't about ignoring reality, but seeing beyond it. It's about fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). When circumstances scream "impossible", we must remember our God specializes in the impossible (Luke 1:37).

Let's encourage each other daily with God's promises. Write them down, speak them aloud, and surround yourself with believers who remind you of God's faithfulness. When doubts creep in, cry out like Peter, "Lord, save me!" (Matthew 14:30). He'll reach out His hand to lift you up.

Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God solution focused heart, mind, spirit, and attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul.
