How much longer?

Beloved of All
Father how much longer do I have to wait for a wife?  I am so lonely, I keep asking you for her and for friends to fill in until she gets here, and you have not provided either.  Father how much longer do I have to wait.  How many times must I weep bitterly before you send her to me?   Father I wish you would help me.  How much longer must I wait.  God, somebody, any body, please answer, and please be specific.  In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

God is love. We know that God loves us and only wants the best for us. The Bible says , "Delight yourself also in the LORD; and he shall give you the desires of your heart." (Psalm 37:4) You ask, why doesn't God answer me? I do not have all the answers, my friend, but Jesus does.

Who-What is God?

God is Love. (1 John 4:8) Where there is love, there is God. He is a Spirit. (John 4:24)-(2 Corinthians 3:17) He is the Creator of the Universe. (Genesis 1:1)

What is God's name?

God has many names, but I think that He does not really mind what you call Him. When God spoke to Moses, He said His name was "I am that I am." (Exodus 3:14) He is that He is. He neither needs nor requires a name.

Do you believe in God?

The existence of God can neither be proved nor disproved by science. You must have faith to believe that God exists. What is faith? The Bible says, "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." (Hebrews 11:1) If instead you want to believe, but have difficulty trusting and believing that there is a God, ask God this, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” (Mark 9:24)

So you have now established that you believe in God, but does He answer prayer?

The Bible says, “Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.” (Matthew 21:21) But remember, a reply doesn't always mean a yes. He might say, soon, later, not now, or even no. Just because the reply is no, that does not mean that God has not replied. A common mistake is to think that because God has not replied yes, that God doesn't answer prayer.

There will be times when God will not answer prayer. If you are praying for something that is not of God, or you are praying for the wrong thing, or maybe if you are praying for things you don't really need. The Bible says, "Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts." (James 4:3)

In summary:

Does God answer prayer? Yes, but His answer might be different then the one we expect. Remember, we see only our immediate needs or wants. God sees the long picture, and it may be that what to us seems like a good thing, isn't so good for us after all. Or maybe there is something better, but we are too short-sighted to see it. God made us, so we must have faith and trust that He knows what is best for us, even if at the moment it doesn't seem that way. He loves us, and wants us to be happy. The Bible says He will give us the desires of our hearts. (Psalm 37:4)

I am praying for you, my friend. GBY!

Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer. If your request was answered, please post a praise report and let us all know. If your request does not seem to have been answered, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer. We all hope that our prayers are answered in the way that we want. Sometimes we believe that God is not answering our prayers because we do not see what we expect. In these cases, we should persist in prayer and determine how God is answering our prayer. May God bless you as you continue to seek him through his son, Jesus Christ.
