How Long Will It Take?

Hello everyone, I am sorry it has been so long since I have posted any new lessons. God has been doing a lot in my life and life has been busy. Be assured I have not wavered in my walk and my stand and faith for my marriage remain strong. Keep your prayers coming; a lot has changed in the situation I am in and I see God moving in ways I never saw before. But enough about me, let's get back to the post in hand.

"So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth: it shall not return to Me void [without producing any effect, useless], but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it." Isaiah 55:11 AMP

God speaks and it happens; never will His word come back to Him saying "Sorry God, your word didn't change anything and the problem has grown." However, as we learned in the story of the Israelites wandering the wilderness for forty years, God's word can be delayed by our own actions.

In Exodus, God uses Moses to free the Israelites from captivity of slavery from Egypt. They saw many miracles, signs, and were delivered from a life of slavery. Not only that, but when they were wandering the wilderness in search of the promised land, God fed them from heaven and made water come out of rocks so their needs were provided for. God took care of His people but delayed the promised land. Now why did He do that you may ask? Was it God just playing with them? No. It was because of their lack of faith. Even though they walked right through the Red Sea and did not get wet, even though every day they ate manna and drank living water and survived a harsh land with blessings after blessing, they still turned their backs on God when things looked difficult. Moses was put in charge of them to lead them and guide them, but in Moses's absence, they quickly turned to idols and gods, saying these are the gods that freed us. They kept saying God has left us; He is not bringing us to the promised land. Eventually, God said, "Fine, if you won't believe and trust me, then you will never see the promised land." Many times, God told Moses, these are no longer my people because they have angered Me, and Moses stood up for them, reminding God what He said about His people from the start. Now an important note here about what looked like God changed His mind, this is not the case. God did this to show us something (Yes, God did this knowing thousands of years later we will learn a lesson). God never changes His mind; He wanted us to see that it is our actions that can delay His words, His anger was real for His people, but He knew what they would do when He told Moses He will deliver His people. The lesson here is always trust in God that He will do what He says He will do.

God will provide a guide to us like Moses was for God's people, but what will we do when our guide is absent? Will we lose hope, faith, or turn to other things for answers? I know I won't. Moses was a light for the people to show them the way to God, and when Moses went on top of the mountain to speak to God, the people quickly lost faith. Our guide can be anything, a pastor, a friend, a website, or even a family member, but what will you do if your guide is gone for a brief time? Will you wait for their return? Will you go back to your old way? Or will you continue the journey without your guide going in the right direction alone? Remember Moses never saw the promised land; it wasn't until the next generation did God's people make it to the Jordan and crossed into God's promise, and it wasn't until they learned to rest (trust) in God.

So how long will it take for us to see God's promise for our marriages? Well, that is up to you. Are you going to continue the journey even after your guide is not present? Are you going to keep walking in faith even when times look difficult, like there is no end to the journey? Or are you going to give up and say this is impossible, or say it must be God's will for me to give up? We know God's will for marriages; He wants them to last and produce good fruits in His church, after all, He hates divorce. Do you think God will do anything He hates or allow anything He hates? No! God wants us to be restored, and if we completely trust and surrender to Him, He will bring you across the Jordan into His promise.

It is up to you to wander the wilderness for forty years, or walk in complete trust and faith and get there sooner than you think.

Thank you and God bless.
