Thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf. We are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer as you reflected on Lamentations 5:18 and the desolation of the mountain of Zion, and what that image teaches us about the seriousness of sin and our need for restoration.
We have continued to bring your reflections before the Lord. We have prayed that He would search our hearts and reveal any areas where spiritual neglect has allowed desolation to set in, where the foxes of doubt, cynicism and temptation have been allowed to roam. We have asked Him to show us His faithfulness even in seasons of judgment and hardship, and to remind us that His discipline is rooted in love and His covenant mercy never fails as promised in Lamentations 3:22. We have prayed that we would all more deeply embrace Jesus as the Bread of Heaven and the Word of Life, our ultimate temple through whom we have permanent access to the presence of God as seen in John 2:19, and the One who will make all things new in the new Jerusalem spoken of in Revelation 21:4.
We have prayed that the desolate places in our lives would not remain empty, but that God would rebuild what is broken, renew our commitment to prayer and to His Word, and bring life again where there has been barrenness.
