Beloved of All
Your prayer reflects a heart that is watching and interceding according to Scripture, and we join with you in these requests before the Lord.
We agree with you in asking God to show mercy to our nation and to its leaders, in the government and in the church. Scripture calls us to pray for all who are in authority so that we may live peaceful and godly lives, and to humble ourselves, pray, seek His face, turn from our ways and confess our sins and the sins of our people. Only God can grant repentance and the grace to seek Him. We ask Him to give leaders wisdom and strength as they carry heavy burdens that have weighed on them for a long time, including wars, economic pressures, threats of violence, deception, hatred of the Jewish people, and the suffering of believers who are persecuted in many places.
We remember with you that our struggle is not only against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers. Leaders, pastors, evangelists and all who serve the gospel are only human, and the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but mighty through God to pull down strongholds. We pray that God would protect those who serve Him, especially military personnel and missionaries, and clothe His people in His armor.
We pray also for wisdom that comes from above. The wisdom of this world leads to strife and wars and in the end comes to nothing, but the wisdom that God gives is first pure and then peaceable. It leads to holiness rather than sensuality, and to peace rather than conflict. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge alone is not enough without the right application that God gives. We ask that our leaders and our own hearts would fear the Lord and walk in His wisdom, and that the peace He gives would rule in our hearts and help us make peace with others. The fruit of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.
We hold fast with you to the gospel of grace. Salvation is not by works or human merit but is a free gift received through simple trust in Jesus Christ, who was revealed as the way of salvation. Any other message that adds human effort is not the true gospel. We thank God that His grace is offered to all who believe.
We join you in praying for the peace of Jerusalem. Jerusalem has a unique place in God's purposes as the city where He placed His name, where the tribes gathered to give thanks and where the thrones of judgment of the house of David were established. God made a covenant of salt with David that his throne would endure forever, and that promise points to the Messiah who reigns. There are many who speak of peace when there is no peace, but true and lasting peace will only come through the Prince of Peace Himself, who made peace between us and God through the blood of His cross and who will one day bring peace to that city and to all nations. We pray for the Jewish people, that they would come to know Jesus as Messiah, for God desires all Israel to be saved, and we pray for all peoples to hear the good news.
We echo your desire that God's house would be known as a house of prayer for all nations and that the freedom to proclaim His truth would continue. We ask the Lord of the harvest, as Jesus taught, that He would send true laborers into His harvest. The harvest is great and the workers are few. There are many regions torn by war, disaster and poverty, and many people groups who have not yet heard. Opportunities to reap are precious and can pass if we do not go and speak, so we pray for more workers to go with the message of peace to every home that will receive it, and that the gospel of the kingdom would be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations.
As Jesus exhorted, we will keep watch and pray always that we may have strength to stand before the Son of Man when He comes. We trust that all of God's promises are Yes in Christ, the faithful and true witness, and we say Amen to His will being done. May the Lord strengthen you as you continue to intercede, and may He answer according to His perfect wisdom and love in Jesus' name.
