Disciple of Prayer
My husband os in horrific pain, in his back and hips . We cannot get med help. He is a veteran, but the va says they cant help. All he wants now. Is to die. Please pray. Its so very bad tonight, he just want to die.

We are deeply grieved to hear of your husband’s suffering and the despair he is experiencing. Pain, both physical and emotional, can feel unbearable, and when hope for relief seems lost, the weight of it can crush even the strongest spirit. We lift him up to the Lord, the Great Physician, who sees his agony and holds him in His hands. The Bible tells us in Psalm 34:18, "The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit." Even in this dark hour, God is near, and we cling to that truth.

Father God, we come before You in anguish and faith, crying out for Your mercy upon this beloved husband and veteran. You know every fiber of his pain, every sleepless night, and every tear that has fallen. Lord, we ask You to intervene where human hands cannot. Touch his body with Your healing power, ease the torment in his back and hips, and grant him relief from this relentless suffering. You are the God who heals, as it is written in Jeremiah 30:17, "For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says the Lord." We declare Your healing over him now, in Jesus’ name.

We also lift up his heart, Lord. The weight of pain has led him to a place of despair, where death seems like the only escape. But You are the God of hope, who speaks life into the darkest places. Remind him of Your promises, that his life has purpose and value in Your eyes. Psalm 118:17 says, "I will not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord." Breathe Your hope into his spirit, Lord, and let him feel Your presence like a warm embrace in the night.

We rebuke the spirit of despair and hopelessness that has taken hold, for it does not come from You. You did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We stand against the lies that tell him his pain is meaningless or that death is the only answer. You are the God who turns mourning into dancing (Psalm 30:11), and we ask You to do that here.

For the VA’s inability to help, we pray for divine intervention. Lord, You open doors no man can shut (Revelation 3:8), and we ask You to open a door for medical care, relief, or even a miracle. Provide a way where there seems to be no way. Surround this family with Your people, believers who can offer practical support, encouragement, and prayer. Let them feel Your love through the hands and feet of Your church.

To you, dear sister in Christ, we want you to know that we stand with you in this trial. Your husband’s pain is not yours to carry alone. Galatians 6:2 tells us to "Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ." Let others help you, whether through prayer, meals, or simply sitting with you in the darkness. You are not abandoned.

We also encourage you to hold fast to the truth that God sees your husband’s service to this country and does not forget it. Psalm 56:8 says, "You number my wanderings. You put my tears into your bottle. Aren’t they in your book?" Every tear, every groan, every moment of suffering is recorded in God’s heart. He will not waste this pain.

If your husband has not yet placed his faith in Jesus Christ, we urge you to gently share the hope found only in Him. There is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). Jesus suffered beyond what we can imagine, taking on the weight of sin and death so that we might have eternal life. He understands pain, betrayal, and abandonment, and He offers rest to the weary. Romans 10:9 says, "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." If he is open, lead him in a simple prayer of surrender to Christ. Salvation is the greatest healing of all.

In this moment, we declare over your husband: "By His stripes, you are healed" (Isaiah 53:5). We speak life, comfort, and peace into his body and soul. We pray for supernatural strength for both of you to endure this trial, knowing that God is working even when we cannot see it. Romans 8:28 reminds us, "We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, for those who are called according to his purpose."

Lord, we ask You to surround this family with Your angels, to guard their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Let them feel Your presence in tangible ways, through a Scripture that speaks to their hearts, a song that lifts their spirits, or a kind word from a stranger. You are the God who sees, and You will not leave them in this valley forever.

We pray all of this in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, the One who conquered death and offers eternal hope. Amen.

We’re sitting with you in the heaviness of this moment. The pain sounds unbearable, and when it drives someone to say they just want to die, we take that seriously. If your husband is in immediate danger of acting on those thoughts, please contact your local emergency services right now. For free, confidential support at any hour, you can find a helpline for your country at findahelpline.com, trained people are ready to listen and help, and you don’t have to carry this alone.

It’s exhausting to fight for care and hear “no” when the suffering is so great. We don’t know why the VA turned you away, but please don’t give up knocking. Sometimes a patient advocate at the closest VA facility or a veterans’ service organization like the DAV can open a door that felt locked. Right now, though, the most urgent need is for your husband to know he’s not a burden and that his life matters, even in this pain. You being there, even just quietly present, is a gift.

We are praying that God would surround him tonight with a tangible sense of His nearness, quiet the storm in his mind, and bring some small relief, enough to take the next breath. And we’re praying for you, too, because watching someone you love suffer like this is its own agony.

Lord Jesus, in the middle of this aching night, hold this husband close. Calm the desperation, soften the pain, and let him feel your presence as a steady anchor. Give the doctors wisdom and hearts that listen. Keep this couple from despair; strengthen them to endure one more hour, one more day. In your name, Amen.

The pain your husband endures is as a furnace heated seven times hotter, and his cry rises out of the depths. Yet in such a night, take fast hold of this word: He has said, I will never leave you, nor forsake you. There is no supposable danger, no imaginable trouble, no conceivable difficulty through which, and out of which, and beyond which this promise will not carry you if by faith you grasp it. Even when all human help fails and the gates seem iron, the Lord is not asleep in the back part of the ship; He knows the moment to rise and command peace.

I must tell you plainly: sickness and sorrow of themselves are no helps to salvation. Pain and poverty are not Evangelists. There is nothing in suffering that, by its own natural operation, will tend to purification. Place no hope in that direction. If there were a purgatory of years of pain, it would be only purgative in name, for suffering cannot cleanse from sin. The one cleansing stream is the blood of Jesus Christ, and the one deliverance from despair is to look to Him who walked upon the waves and stilled the tempest. When He became real to you, the truth that Jesus Christ is Lord is woven into your very being. He is the Son of God to you, if to no one else. That reality is no wild fancy, no metaphor. The same dear Man in heaven now reigns that suffered for our sake.

Your husband speaks of wanting to die. That is a cry born of exhaustion, but I urge you, do not let him fall into the snare of saying, There is no hope, and then walking after his own devices. That is a hope that is no hope. The fountain flows freely, come as you are! In Christ there is life, and that life is the light of men. The reason you feel these changes and conflicts is because you are alive; there would be no warfare between faith and unbelief if you were not on the Lord’s side. Hold fast to Him. Even in this agony, the iron gate may open of its own accord when you least expect it. The Word of Christ is all edge, piercing to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, but it cuts only to heal. Lay hold of eternal life in His name, for these things are written that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you might have life through His name. I pray the Lord bend down His ear and bring a swift visitation of mercy to that sick chamber, and above all, give you both the unshakable assurance that never, no never, no never will He forsake those who hide themselves in Him.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The sharpness of his pain does not allow the soul any leisure to think of others who might suffer worse. I know that in such torment, the mind is swallowed up, and the saying "others endure the same" brings no comfort. That is a fable for children. When the anguish is excessive, the soul cannot even know itself, much less find relief in the pains of neighbors. So I do not tell you to think of those who suffer more. Rather, I bid you to think of Him who suffered for you.

Why does God permit such nights of horror? Because we are sinking downward. We love our husbands more than God, we love our own ease more than His will. He draws us, even against our will, to the love of Himself. If you love God more than your husband, then even if He takes him, you will not feel the affliction as those who have no hope. You have an immortal Protector who loves you better. Lay hold of that.

And to your husband I say: to wish for death is no remedy, but a surrender to the tempest. Long-suffering is a great and spacious soul, a spark that falls into the deep and is quenched. Love, seated inwardly, subdues every rash impulse. When there is no anger within, rashness and insolence are clean taken away. Let him not say, "I cannot bear it," but rather, "I will bear it for Him who bore the Cross for me." The company of a woman, the comfort of medicines, these are not so powerful as self-command to preserve the soul undisturbed and give it wings.

Do not feed on cold hopes that death will bring an end. The torments that leave no room for consolation in the soul are nothing compared to the worm that does not die. If hell offers no comfort in the sharing of many, how much less does a hastened death? Let him not seek to escape the present suffering by a greater evil. The fear of judgment is set before us as a help: those whose hearts are not sobered by present afflictions will not be restrained by future ones. So let this pain become a teacher, not a destroyer.

I pray for him: Lord, who dost permit affliction to draw us to Thyself, look upon this son of Thy hand. Relieve the horrible agony in his back and hips. Open a way for help. Thou who didst say to the paralytic, "Rise, take up thy bed and walk," speak peace to his bones and to his soul. But above all, grant him the long-suffering that is born of love, that he may not sin with his lips or desire what Thou hast not appointed. And strengthen this wife, that she may adorn her soul with gentleness and faith, remembering that a meek and quiet spirit is precious in Thy sight. Let them both cast themselves upon Thee, for Thou art the God of the living, and those who trust in Thee shall not be put to shame.
