Disciple of Prayer
Please please pray for me. I come to work so scared. I get scolded for the smallest things, I feel completely defeated and demotivated. I see no light. Please pray this month goes well. She gives me last minute work and then gets angry with me. I really just want to feel normal at work. I am always so anxious and I cry regularly. I feel like this job has just killed me as a person. I am now much more unsure about myself and anxious about work in general. I really really need God’s mercy and protection. I want to get through this month well.

A Hard Life
God sees the struggles of every worker and calls us to stand with them in justice and compassion.
We hear the heaviness in your heart and we are carrying this burden with you before the Lord. To come to work so scared, to be scolded for the smallest things, to feel defeated and demotivated and to see no light is a very painful place to be. We weep with you over the anxiety and the tears you have shed regularly, and over how this job has made you feel unsure of yourself and even like you have been broken as a person. You are not unseen and you are not forgotten. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit Psalm 34:18 and He sees every anxious moment you endure.

We want to remind you that your worth and identity are not defined by this job or by how your supervisor treats you, but by who you are in Christ. When anxiety rises, God invites us to bring everything to Him. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. Cast all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you 1 Peter 5:7. We also hear your longing to just feel normal again at work and to get through this month, and we take that request seriously before the Father.

We pray that you would know the Lord as your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble Psalm 46:1. When you feel overwhelmed and afraid to walk into work, remember His promise, Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10. For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7. Jesus Himself says, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest Matthew 11:28. When you feel you have no light, remember that He is your light and He will lead you even through this dark valley.

In your work itself, we encourage you to continue to do your best as serving the Lord and not merely people, Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men Colossians 3:23, while also trusting God to be your defender when you are treated harshly. It is right to pray for wisdom in how to respond to last minute work and anger, to seek godly counsel from a trusted pastor or mature believer, to keep clear and gracious communication and records where you can, and to ask God whether He would have you remain and endure for a season or open another door for provision. He promises If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him James 1:5.

You asked for God's mercy and protection, and we join you in that, but we also want to lovingly share that it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father. You mentioned God, but did not mention Jesus, and we do not want you to miss the comfort and power of coming in His name. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is because Jesus died for our sins and rose again that we can boldly bring our fears, our tears, and our workplace burdens to God and receive mercy and grace. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust fully in Jesus as your Savior and Lord, to call on His name and to follow Him, for He will never leave you nor forsake you.

We pray together with you now.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up this dear one to You. You see the fear that rises before work each day, the scolding, the last minute demands and the anger that has left her defeated and demotivated. Lord have mercy and spread Your protection over her. Guard her heart and mind with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. When she cries, draw near and comfort her. When she feels she sees no light, be her light and show her the next step. Restore what this difficult season has torn down and remind her that she is fearfully and wonderfully made and deeply loved in Christ. Give her strength to get through this month well, to do her work with excellence for Your glory even under pressure, and to feel normal and safe again. Soften the heart of her supervisor, grant favor and better communication, and restrain any harsh or unjust treatment. Grant wisdom to know how to respond, when to speak and when to be silent, and whether to stay or to seek new provision. Lead her to supportive and godly counsel and let her know she is not alone. We ask all of this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus, our only hope and our peace. Amen.

We are continuing to pray that this month will be marked by God's mercy, that your anxiety will be met with His perfect peace, and that you will feel His presence with you each morning as you go to work. Keep bringing every worry to Jesus throughout the day, even with short whispered prayers, and let His Word dwell richly in you. He is your protector, your provider, and the One who will sustain you and restore your joy.

Thank you for reaching out so honestly. Coming to work scared every day and being scolded for small things is exhausting, and it makes sense you feel defeated and on edge. We hear how much you want just to feel normal again and get through this month with some peace.

We want you to know that feeling anxious and tearful in a harsh environment does not mean you are failing as a person. It is a human response to ongoing pressure, and God sees both the pressure you are under and the person you still are.

One small step that has helped others in a similar spot is to create a simple paper trail for your own steadiness. When work is given, jot down what was asked, when it was given, and when it is due, and if something comes last minute, reply with a brief written clarification like, "Just confirming you need X by Y, I will do my best." It will not change her tone, but it can give you clarity and a calm record to refer to.

If the anxiety and crying continue to weigh heavily, please consider talking with a trusted pastor or counselor and with your doctor alongside prayer, so you have support for both heart and health.

We are praying for you.

Father, in Jesus' name we lift our friend to You. Cover them with Your mercy and protection at work, quiet the fear that greets them each morning, and give them wisdom and steadiness for each task and conversation. Help them get through this month one day at a time and remind them they are not alone. Amen.

Your words have come before me with a heaviness that I have not taken lightly. To go to your work with fear, to be scolded for small things, to weep often and to feel yourself defeated and worn down as a person, this is a sore trial. The anxiety of which you speak, that robs you of rest and makes you unsure of yourself, is a burden that many of the Lord's people have known.

Hear what the Lord says to such as you are. Fear not, for I will help thee, saith the Lord. Fear not, thou worm Jacob. That word was not given for those who are strong and confident, but for those who feel themselves to be as a worm, weak and trodden down. There must be trust in promised strength, and then fear is removed by that promise. The fear of man bringeth a snare, and such a snare that many feet have been tripped by it. But the fear of God bringeth blessing. To fear your fellow creature, to tremble at a harsh word or a last minute demand, will weaken you. Fear dishonors God, as if the arm which piled the heavens could be palsied and could not sustain you in that office where He has placed you. It will be disobedience to be afraid when Jesus Himself whispers, Fear not, for I am with you.

Have you not found that the very anxiety which arises through your being in a difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty. You have nothing to do with the temper of another, dear friend, that is her business and God's. You go and do the right thing as unto the Lord, and then be no longer anxious about it, but leave the result with God. Do what your hand finds to do with faithfulness and quietness, and commit the outcome to Him who judges righteously.

There are seasons, even with God's true children, when at His feet they groan, yet seem to take their needs away unanswered. But understand that God's delays are not denials, and that His denials to particular requests are only intended to let us know that He will give us something richer and better than we have asked. If He does not pay your prayers in silver, He will pay them in gold. Therefore let not your feelings fly in the teeth of God's promises, but hope on. Though your case is very sad, it is not a strange one, there is hope for you.

Remember that your main business is not with answers to prayer, but with your answer to God's call to you, and His call to you is, Come unto Me, and I will give you rest. He has taught His people from their youth, and though they are chastened, they are never cast out, they still continue as His pupils. He is teaching you even in this hard school to observe His hand, to see His wondrous works in sustaining you day by day.

I do pray for you, and will continue to pray, that the Lord will show you mercy and keep you under the shadow of His wing in that place. I ask Him to give you protection from all harm, to quiet your spirit, to lift this constant anxiousness, and to grant you to feel normal and at peace again in your daily labour. May He give you favour where it can be given, and grace to bear with patience where you must endure, and may He make this month to go well for you, not merely in outward circumstances, but in inward strength. May He help your superiors to act with fairness, and may He guard your heart from being crushed, and restore to you a steadiness of soul.

Labor to get rid, as much as possible, of fear. Look to Christ, trust His blood which cleanses from all sin, and hear His voice above every scolding voice, saying, Fear not, I have redeemed thee. Cast your burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain you.
