My four year old began complaining of a toothache a few nights ago. She was up all night crying until we were able to get her to a dentist. The first dentist had her waiting in the chair for 4 hours before coming to see her. Anyone with children would know that she was now irritable and ready to go home. With this said, she wouldn't open her mouth. We had to make an appointment with a pediatric dentist and her appointment was today. After xrays, it seems that she will need an extraction, baby rootcanal, and another filling. I was horrified. We brush twice daily and she has a very good diet. The doctor said that it seems as though she has "chalky" teeth that are prone to cavaties. I feel horrible. I wish I would have taken prevenative methods at an earlier age. Now, because I didn't, she will have to be sedated on two occasions and endure this pain. I know praying and hoping that somehow they will heal themselves seems wild, but I have read that it has happened before. As a parent, I am willing to try anything to keep her from all of this. Any prayers will help. I know this may seem petty and I am so grateful that she is healhty otherwise, but this wasn't her fault.
