The Chain of Influences
Do Not Sin Against the Child
Treatment of Parents
We hear the deep hurt and weariness in your heart as a parent who faithfully raised your children in the Lord and now feels the sting of rudeness, neglect and rejection from your daughter, and we join with you in bringing this before the throne of grace together in Jesus' name.

The Word of God is clear that children are called to honor their parents, for it is the first commandment with a promise. Exodus 20:12 says Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which Yahweh your God gives you, and Ephesians 6:1-3 says Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with a promise, that it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth. When a child turns away into disrespect, coldness and self-centered behavior, it grieves the heart of a godly parent and it grieves the Lord, for it is not aligned with His design for the family.

You are right to discern the times, for Scripture warns us of what the last days would look like. 2 Timothy 3:1-2 says But know this, that in the last days, grievous times will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy. What you are experiencing is part of that evil increase in the world, and your sorrow is not unseen by God. We also remember that our struggle is not against flesh and blood alone. Ephesians 6:12 says For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Your daughter needs deliverance and a softened heart, not just behavior correction.

We must gently encourage you as well not to let the pain turn into bitterness or hatred in your own heart, even as you have felt hatred directed toward you. The Lord calls us to overcome evil with good. Romans 12:19 says Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord. And Romans 12:21 says Don't be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Matthew 5:44 says But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you. This does not mean you must accept ongoing abuse without boundaries, but it does mean we release justice into God's hands and continue to speak the truth in love. Ephesians 4:15 says but speaking truth in love, we may grow up in all things into him, who is the head, Christ.

We want you to know that your labor in raising your children in the Lord was not in vain. Proverbs 22:6 says Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it. Even when a child strays like the prodigal, the Father remains faithful to pursue and to restore, and your prayers are powerful. Galatians 6:9 says Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don't give up. Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7 says casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you.

We pray together with you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name by which we have access to You and no other name by which we are saved. We lift up this precious parent to You who is hurting and feeling dishonored and rejected. Lord, You see every tear and You know the faithfulness with which Your servant raised these children in Your ways. Comfort this wounded heart, heal the places where rudeness and neglect have cut deeply, and guard against bitterness. Help Your servant to forgive as You have forgiven us. Colossians 3:13 says bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do. Give wisdom to set healthy and biblical boundaries while still walking in love, and give words that are gentle yet truthful. Proverbs 15:1 says A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

Lord we also lift up this daughter to You. We ask that You would deliver her from a spirit of selfishness, pride, rudeness and hardness of heart. Convict her by Your Holy Spirit of the need to honor her parents and to walk in humility and respect. Soften her heart, open her eyes to the pain she has caused, and draw her back to You with repentance. Where there is narcissistic and self-loving behavior, Lord bring brokenness and renewal, that she may love You first and love others as herself. We ask for justice tempered with mercy, that You would fight this battle for this family, for You are righteous and You defend the cause of Your servants. Psalm 103:6 says Yahweh executes righteous acts, and justice for all who are oppressed. Bring restoration, reconciliation and peace where there has been hatred and division, and let Your will be done in this family. We trust You to work in Your perfect timing and we thank You that You hear our prayer in Jesus' name, amen.

We hear how painful this has become, loving a daughter you raised in faith and now feeling met with rudeness and neglect. Feeling hated by your own child cuts deeply, and it is understandable to cry out for God to see and to bring both mercy and justice when the world around you feels so harsh.

One of the most tender transitions for parents is when children step into adulthood. The relationship has to shift from daily guidance to relating adult to adult, and when respect and closeness fade it can leave a real sense of emptiness and grief. That does not mean you failed, it often means a new season is unfolding that needs new ways of relating, and that ache is something many parents carry quietly.

It can be steadying to have one trusted person walk with you through this, like a pastor or a mature friend from church who can listen, pray with you regularly, and help you think through calm, clear boundaries for calls and visits. Choosing when to engage and when to step back quietly when words turn harsh can protect your peace while keeping the door open for healthier moments.

Father, we lift this mom to You right now, weary from this strain. Comfort her heart, give her wisdom for each conversation, and surround her with faithful support. Work in her daughter's life too, softening what is hard and leading her toward kindness. Guide them both with Your mercy and justice day by day. In Jesus' name, amen.

Yes, many teenagers are like this because of hormones, they can be really really horrible in this stage. I was like this I think because of school and didn't know Jesus maybe. But more teenagers are doing crimes these days, like vaping, my whole school vaped. I am glad I never really got into it as an addiction.

The best thing to do is to not match their energy, if a teenager gets mad and slams doors or something don't also get mad, it makes things 100x worse,

also pray to Jesus about this, and let them know that you stand by their rules and their behavior is not accepted.

Also connect the person to their behavior and not their character, an example is "that behavior is not okay!" and also talk after the moment has passed, not like right after they throw a fit.

And also listen without interrupting. I am praying for this in Jesus name, amen. God bless you! Jesus loves you so so much😁😁

Your pain has been heard, and it is a sorrow that many faithful parents have known, to have sown in tears and prayer and yet to reap sharpness and neglect from a child once carried so tenderly to the throne of grace. The Lord knows the wound of felt hatred where love was labored for, and He does not despise the cry of a grieved parent.

There is forgiveness with God, and that is your first hope and stay. Scripture says, There is forgiveness with Thee, that Thou mayest be feared. This forgiveness is divine, for I, even I, am He that blotteth out thy transgressions. It is surprising forgiveness, so free that it seems too great to be true, and it is complete forgiveness, the tally destroyed, the record nailed to the Cross. It is also a continuous and eternal forgiveness, for the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. He not only forgave at the first, but He continues daily to forgive, and He does not forgive and afterwards accuse.

Having received such mercy in Christ, you are called to reflect it. As it is written, even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. It is a joint work of mutual forgiveness, and members of Christ's household should take large shares in it. Be ready to forgive your children. How can we pray, Our Father which art in heaven, while we hold against our own child what we say we cannot forgive. To be forgiven is sweet as honey, but to forgive is sweeter still, and the Lord makes it possible for His own.

This does not mean the hurt is not real, nor that rudeness and neglect are not sin. They are. And you speak truly that in the last days men shall be lovers of themselves, and the world waxes evil. Yet the leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is healing. His blood brings pardon, and His grace can change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before.

Therefore cast your burden upon Him. Confess before Him the bitterness that would rise, and ask Him to keep your heart tender and quiet, as a weaned child. Pray for your daughter, not with a spirit of vengeance, but that God would bring her to see her need, to repent and to find that same forgiveness which you have found. Ask Him to fight your battles with justice, yet tempered with mercy, for He loves to show mercy and He will bring down the heart with labor that it may look to Him for help.

May the Lord grant you present forgiveness to rest in, and with it the removal of the heaviness you feel. May He renew your strength as you remember pardoning mercy, and keep you looking to Jesus, the Just who died for the unjust to bring us to God. He who has forgiven you will keep you, sanctify you, and in due time bring you to that place where the inhabitant shall not say, I am sick, for the people that dwell there shall be forgiven their iniquity.

We join you in prayer, that God would have mercy upon you, work healing in your family, and be feared and trusted in your home for His great forgiveness.
