Your prayer from Ephesians chapter three is a most blessed and scriptural petition, and we gladly bow our knees with you before the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named.

We entreat Him according to the riches of His glory to grant you to be strengthened with power and might through His Spirit in the inner person. For we are such weak things that we cannot glorify Christ without the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. We may pant and long and pray to honor our Master, but we shall only fail unless the Holy Spirit holds us up and strengthens us. Only when the Holy Spirit comes is there any life and force and power. Therefore we cry mightily unto God that He would pour out His Spirit upon you.

We pray that Christ may dwell in your heart through faith, that you being rooted and grounded in love may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height, and to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge. The Holy Spirit glorifies Christ, and He takes the veil from our hearts that we may see Him. When you are dealing with the things of Christ you are on Holy Spirit ground. A single word of Christ set in the light of the Holy Spirit shines like a fixed star with light that is never dim. May the Holy Spirit show you how intensely Christ loves you, and right gladly may you leap into the Savior's arms and rest there.

We pray that you may be filled with all the fullness of God, and kept in the love of God, praying in the Holy Spirit. For to pray in the Holy Spirit is to pray in His power and by His help, with love saturated prayer and faith that looks to Christ alone. The Spirit will not set His seal to our own words, but He will confirm the testimony of Jesus Christ. Live near to Christ, give yourself up fully to His divine anointing and bedewing, and you shall know that He dwells with you and shall be in you.

Now unto Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. May He keep you from grieving that blessed Spirit by unbelief or forgetfulness, and may He cause you to walk in holiness and in the joy of the Lord which is your strength. Amen.

We join you in bowing our knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ with this very prayer from Ephesians 3. It is a good and faithful prayer to ask, and we gladly ask it with you and for you, that according to the riches of His glory you may be strengthened with power through His Spirit in your inner being.

We ask that Christ may dwell in your heart through faith, not as a guest who visits for a moment, but as one who makes His home there and clothes you round about as a garment. When He dwells within, the soul becomes His dwelling, and He becomes to us all things, our life and our fullness and our way. For this reason we pray that you may be rooted and grounded in love, for love is the root and the foundation that holds all else firm.

We pray also that you may be given strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge. This love is indeed above all human understanding, and we cannot grasp it by reasoning alone, but only as the Holy Spirit dwells in us and Christ dwells in us do we come to know it. It is great and transcendent, yet God has granted us to taste and know it in Christ. And we pray that you may be filled to all the fullness of God, which is to be filled with all virtue of which God is full, and to know and worship Him as Father, Son and Holy Spirit, living a life that reflects His goodness.

We ask these things trusting Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us. May He keep you in faith in Christ Jesus, through whom alone is salvation, and strengthen you to walk in holiness, in love and in the hope of His calling, and to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Your desire to be strengthened in your inner being and to know more of Christ's love is exactly what God wants to give you, and it is good that you have brought this passage before the Lord in prayer.

The prayer in Ephesians asks the Father, according to the riches of His glory, to strengthen you with power through His Spirit in the inner person. That word for power speaks of real ability from God to stand and to live for Him. In ourselves we do not have strength to stand against temptation and the enemy who works against us, but the Holy Spirit dwelling within gives that strength. This is not a one time waiting but a present work of God in everyone who has received Christ, as His Spirit lives within and empowers the inner life.

That strength has a purpose, that Christ may dwell in your heart through faith. The thought there is not of a brief visit, but of settling down and making Himself at home, being comfortable and at ease within you as you trust Him. As you walk by faith and yield to Him, He takes up residence in every part of your heart and life.

Out of that indwelling comes being rooted and grounded in love, and being able to comprehend with all of God's people what is the breadth and length and depth and height of the love of Christ, which passes knowledge. This love is not the love of physical attraction or even natural human affection and friendship. It is love in the realm of the spirit, the love that God Himself is. Before we come to Christ our spirit is dead and we cannot produce this love on our own. We cannot manufacture it or work it up by effort. It is the fruit of the Spirit. When God makes us alive and gives us His Spirit, that Spirit produces His love within us. The true evidence that the Spirit of God is abiding in us is not outward display, which can be counterfeited, but this fruit of love, a genuine love for God and for His family, and a desire to please Him. If we love one another, it shows God dwells in us and His love is being perfected in us.

That love also leads to a life that walks after the Spirit and not after the flesh. There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, and the law of the Spirit of life in Christ has set us free from the law of sin and death. God writes His law on our hearts and directs our desires. We still need His help every day to put to death the deeds of the flesh, and we do this by the Spirit, not in our own strength. As we are led by the Spirit and keep in close fellowship with Him, He bears witness with our spirit that we are God's children, and nothing can separate us from the love of Christ, not tribulation or distress or persecution or any other hardship.

Paul's prayer ends that you may be filled with all the fullness of God, and that He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us. Do not grieve the Holy Spirit by whom you are sealed, but allow Him to build you up, to create in you a pure and fervent love for others, and to conform you more to the image of Jesus.

May the Lord answer this prayer for you even beyond what you have asked, strengthening you inwardly, making Christ fully at home in your heart, grounding you deeply in His love, and filling you with His fullness, so that His love flows through you to others and His joy and peace guard your walk with Him.
