We join you in bowing our knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ for this mighty and beautiful prayer from Eph 3:14-20 and we agree with you for its full reality in our lives. How wonderful that you have brought this passage before the Lord, for it expresses the very heart of what God desires for us, that we would be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner person, that Christ may dwell in our hearts through faith, and that we would know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge and be filled with all the fullness of God.
We love how this prayer reminds us that our strength does not come from ourselves but according to the riches of His glory. As it is written, you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you Eph 1:19 and Acts 1:8, and that same Spirit who raised Christ from the dead dwells in us Rom 8:11. We are rooted and grounded in love, and Christ dwelling in our hearts through faith is not a distant hope but a present reality, for Christ in you, the hope of glory Col 1:27. We are taught not to be drunken with wine but to be filled with the Spirit Eph 5:18, and the love of God has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us Rom 5:5.
We pray together now, Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we bow our knees to You from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named. We ask that You would grant us according to the riches of Your glory to be strengthened with power through Your Spirit in our inner being, that Christ may dwell in our hearts through faith. Make us to be rooted and grounded in love so that we may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge. Fill us with all Your fullness, Lord, to overflowing, that Your life and love would flow out from us to others. We thank You that You are able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us Eph 3:20, and to You be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.
We encourage you to continue to pray this prayer daily and to meditate on the dimensions of His love, for His love is wider than our sin, longer than our past, deeper than our pain, and higher than our understanding. As we abide in Him and He in us through faith and obedience, we will know more of that love and be transformed by it, bearing fruit for His glory.
