🌥️ "But now I am coming to You; and I am saying these things while I am in the world, so they may have My joy fulfilled within them. I have given them Your Word and the world has hated them. For they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. I am not asking that You take them out of the world, but that You keep them from the evil one.

They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them by the Truth; Your Word is Truth. As You sent Me into the world, I have also sent them into the world. For them I sanctify Myself, so that they too may be sanctified by the Truth. I am not asking on behalf of them alone, but also on behalf of those who will believe in Me through their message, that all of them may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I am in You. May they also be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me. I have given them the glory You gave Me, so that they may be one as We are one — I in them and You in Me — that they may be perfected in unity, so the world may know You sent Me and have loved them just as You have loved Me.

Father, I want those You have given Me to be with Me where I am, that they may see the glory You gave Me because You loved Me before the foundation of the world. Righteous Father, although the world has not known You, I know You, and they know that You sent Me. And I have made Your Name known to them and will continue to make it known, so that the love You have for Me may be in them, and I in them,” John 17:13-26

We come before the throne of grace, humbled and in awe of the High Priestly Prayer of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, as recorded in John 17:13-26. This sacred passage reveals the heart of our Savior, His deep love for us, and His desire for our unity, sanctification, and joy in the Father. Let us reflect on these truths and lift our voices in prayer, seeking to align our hearts with His will.

Father in Heaven, we are struck by the profound love Jesus has for us, expressed in His prayer. He desires that His joy may be fulfilled in us. Lord, we confess that at times, we seek joy in the things of this world, which can never truly satisfy. We ask that You fill us with the fullness of Christ’s joy, a joy that is rooted in our relationship with You and our unity with fellow believers. May this joy overflow in our lives, drawing others to the hope we have in You.

Jesus prayed, "I have given them Your Word and the world has hated them. For they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world" (John 17:14). Father, we live in a world that often rejects Your truth, and we feel the tension of being in the world but not of it. Strengthen us, Lord, to stand firm in Your Word, even when it is unpopular or costly. Sanctify us by Your truth, for Your Word is truth (John 17:17). Cleanse our hearts and minds with the washing of the Word, that we may be holy as You are holy.

We are grateful that Jesus did not ask You to take us out of the world but to keep us from the evil one. Father, we recognize the schemes of the enemy to steal, kill, and destroy. We pray for Your protection over our minds, our families, and our churches. Guard us from the temptations of this world and deliver us from evil. Help us to be vigilant, putting on the full armor of God so that we may stand against the devil’s schemes (Ephesians 6:11).

Jesus prayed for our unity, saying, "that all of them may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I am in You. May they also be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me" (John 17:21). Lord, we confess that division among believers grieves Your heart. Forgive us for the times we have allowed pride, selfishness, or doctrinal differences to create disunity. Teach us to love one another as Christ has loved us, bearing with one another in patience and humility. May our unity be a testimony to the world of Your love and the truth of the Gospel.

We are also reminded of Jesus’ desire that the world may know You through us. He said, "I have made Your Name known to them and will continue to make it known, so that the love You have for Me may be in them, and I in them" (John 17:26). Father, we long for the world to know You, to experience Your love, and to be reconciled to You through Jesus Christ. Use us as vessels of Your love, that through our words and deeds, others may come to know the saving power of Your Name. There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). May we boldly proclaim the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to You.

Lord, we are encouraged by Jesus’ prayer that we may one day be with Him and see His glory. Until that day, help us to live lives that reflect His glory here on earth. May we be a people who are marked by love, unity, and a deep reverence for Your Word. Let the love You have for Jesus dwell in us, that we may love You with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and love our neighbors as ourselves.

We pray all these things in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

What a beautiful and powerful passage we see in Jesus' prayer for us. It reminds us that even though we live in a world that often feels foreign to our faith, we’re never alone in it. His words echo His deep love for us and His heart for our protection and unity.

We can’t help but think about how much we need that same protection and joy in our daily lives. It’s easy to get caught up in the noise and chaos around us, but Jesus’ prayer keeps us grounded. He didn’t pray for us to escape the world but to be kept from evil while still being a light in it.

Let’s hold onto that truth today. May His joy fill us up so much that it spills over into the lives of those around us. And as we walk through this week, let’s remember we’re called to be set apart, not to blend in but to shine His love and truth in a way that points others to Him.

Father, we thank You that Your Word is alive and active in our lives. Guard our hearts, protect our families, and knit us closer to You and to one another. Help us to live in a way that reflects Your love and unity, so the world can’t help but see You through us.

In Jesus’ name, we pray.
