High Priestly Prayer: His Joy Word Name & Love in Us, Kept from Evil, Cleansed by Word, Unity, World Hears, Believes, Father's Name Known Jn 17:13-26

Beloved Servant
"But now I am coming to You; and I am saying these things while I am in the world, so they may have My joy fulfilled within them. I have given them Your Word and the world has hated them. For they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. I am not asking that You take them out of the world, but that You keep them from the evil one.

They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. Sanctify them by the Truth; Your Word is Truth. As You sent Me into the world, I have also sent them into the world. For them I sanctify Myself, so that they too may be sanctified by the Truth. I am not asking on behalf of them alone, but also on behalf of those who will believe in Me through their message, that all of them may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I am in You. May they also be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me. I have given them the glory You gave Me, so that they may be one as We are one — I in them and You in Me — that they may be perfected in unity, so the world may know You sent Me and have loved them just as You have loved Me.

Father, I want those You have given Me to be with Me where I am, that they may see the glory You gave Me because You loved Me before the foundation of the world. Righteous Father, although the world has not known You, I know You, and they know that You sent Me. And I have made Your Name known to them and will continue to make it known, so that the love You have for Me may be in them, and I in them,” John 17:13-26

What a beautiful and profound passage you’ve shared—Jesus’ High Priestly Prayer in John 17. This prayer is not only a glimpse into the heart of our Savior but also a blueprint for our own lives as believers. We lift this passage before the Lord, asking Him to make its truths alive in us, that we may walk in the fullness of His joy, unity, and sanctification.

Father, we come before You in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, who intercedes for us even now at Your right hand. We thank You for this prayer, where Jesus pours out His heart for His disciples—and for all who would believe through their message, including us. Lord, we ask that Your Word would indeed sanctify us, just as Jesus prayed. Your Word is Truth, and it is the sword that divides soul and spirit, exposing the thoughts and intentions of our hearts. Cleanse us, Father, by the washing of Your Word, that we may be holy as You are holy.

Jesus prayed that we would have His joy fulfilled within us. Oh, how we long for that joy—not the fleeting happiness of this world, but the deep, abiding joy that comes from knowing we are Yours! The world has hated us because we are not of it, just as Jesus is not of it. Yet, we do not ask to be taken out of the world, but to be kept from the evil one. Protect us, Lord, from the schemes of the enemy, who seeks to steal, kill, and destroy. Guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus, that we may stand firm in the faith.

We are struck by Jesus’ prayer for unity—"that all of them may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I am in You." This unity is not merely organizational or superficial; it is a supernatural oneness that reflects the very nature of the Trinity. Father, forgive us for the divisions we have allowed to creep into Your body. Forgive us for prioritizing our own opinions, denominations, or traditions over the unity of the Spirit. We repent of any pride, bitterness, or unforgiveness that has hindered this unity. Make us one, Lord, so that the world may believe that You sent Jesus. Let our love for one another be the testimony that draws others to You.

Jesus also prayed that we would see His glory—that we would be with Him where He is. What a glorious hope we have! One day, we will see Him face to face, and we will be like Him. Until then, help us to live as citizens of heaven, storing up treasures there rather than here. Let us not be conformed to this world but transformed by the renewing of our minds, that we may discern Your good, pleasing, and perfect will.

Father, we thank You for making Your name known to us. You have revealed Yourself as our Father, our Provider, our Redeemer, and our King. We pray that You would continue to make Your name known through us. Let our lives be a living testimony of Your love, grace, and truth. May the world see Jesus in us and be drawn to Him.

And Lord, we are reminded that it is only through the name of Jesus that we have access to You. There is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved. We pray for those who do not yet know You, that they would hear the message of the Gospel and believe. Open their hearts to receive the truth, that they may be saved and added to Your family.

We close with this prayer, echoing the heart of Jesus:

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of Your Son, Jesus Christ, and for His intercession on our behalf. We ask that You would fulfill His prayer in our lives. Fill us with Your joy, sanctify us by Your Word, and keep us from the evil one. Unite us as one body in Christ, that the world may know that You sent Him. Make Your name known through us, and let Your love be perfected in us. We long to see Your glory and to be with You where You are. Until that day, help us to live as faithful witnesses, shining Your light in a dark world. We pray all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We join you in lifting up Jesus' High Priestly Prayer from John 17. What a powerful passage! Let's pray together:

"Father, we come before You, just as Jesus did, asking that Your Word would sanctify us, just as He prayed. Help us to live in unity, loving one another as He loves us, so that the world may believe that You sent Him. Keep us from the evil one, and fill us with Your joy, even as we face the world's hatred.

We thank You for the glory You've given us, and we ask that we may be one, even as You and Jesus are one. Help us to see Your glory, and to live in a way that reflects Your love and grace to the world around us.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."
