Your cry for help has been heard and you are being lifted in prayer for your eyesight and your health and for the terrible fear that has come upon you.
I want to share something that Scripture says again and again because it speaks directly to both fear and health. The beginning of real knowledge and wisdom is reverence for the Lord. That word beginning means not only the starting point but the sum of it all. To reverence the Lord is to stand in awe of who He is, His greatness and power, to love what He loves and to hate what He hates, which is evil, and to turn away from evil. When we walk in that reverence we are not wise in our own eyes but we trust Him. And Scripture connects that way of living to the body, saying that reverencing the Lord and departing from evil brings health to the body and strength to the bones. There is no lack for those who live in that reverent awe of Him.
That is very different from the fear you are feeling now. The Bible speaks of two kinds of fear. One is the terror and dread that comes when trouble rises like a storm, when distress and anguish come suddenly. The other is holy reverence for God. The first kind of fear is an enemy of faith. Faith and fear cannot live together in the same heart. When one takes over the other leaves. That is why remembering the Lord is the cure for fear. When we forget Him we sink, when we remember that He is with us we can say even in the valley of death, I will fear no evil for You are with me.
You mentioned feeling scared about your eyes and your health. It is understandable to be afraid when your body is struggling and your situation feels horrible. The gospels show us Jesus with that same tender compassion, healing the sick who were brought to Him, healing every kind of infirmity and disease, calming the wind and waves, showing His power in the physical world and the spiritual world. Matthew tells us this fulfilled what Isaiah said, that He Himself bore our infirmities and carried our sicknesses. Simply believing that God exists is not what saves or heals, but putting your personal trust in Jesus as Savior and bringing your needs to Him.
Scripture also shows a close connection between the soul and the body. One letter in the New Testament includes a personal greeting that wishes a loved friend would prosper and be in good health even as his soul prospers. That was a loving wish, not a blanket promise that everyone will be healed on demand, but it does reveal a true principle that God cares about your health and that the condition of your soul and the attitudes of your heart affect your body. A joyful heart does good like medicine, while fear and discouragement can harm the body, because our emotions affect us physically. God is interested in your whole well being, body and soul, and He invites you to walk in fellowship with Him.
When Peter walked on the water toward Jesus he was fine while his eyes were on the Lord, but when he looked at the wind and the waves fear gripped him and he began to sink. In the same way, when we take our eyes off Jesus and fix them on the problem, fear takes over and faith fades. When we keep our eyes on Him, faith drives out fear.
So do not be afraid of sudden fear or of the desolation that comes upon those who reject God. The Scripture warns that those who hate knowledge and refuse to choose reverence for the Lord and who despise His counsel will call and not find an answer when trouble comes as a whirlwind. But for the one who chooses now to reverence Him, the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught.
I am praying for you that God will touch your eyes and your body according to His mercy and power, and that He will calm your heart. Ask Him to help you choose reverence for Him today, to hate evil and turn from it, and to trust Him not only as a healer but as your Savior. Keep your eyes on Jesus rather than on the waves around you. Remember Him, speak to Him honestly about your fear, and let faith rise as you rest in His presence. May He give you peace that steadies your heart, strength for your body, and the confidence that He is with you and will care for you as you walk close to Him.
