Key Thought
I had a good friend who lost his hearing when he was just a boy. He talked about the first words he would ever hear. At the coming of the Lord, Jesus will say to him, "###, it's time to get up and go home with me!" Each of us who belongs to the Lord will one day hear that same voice, and everything will change, including us! Just as in this encounter with a dead girl, death is no match for the touch of Jesus and the sharp command of his voice. He has power over death. Those who belong to him will hear his voice, and death will be overcome forever!
Today's Prayer
Father, thank you for the victory that is mine in Jesus Christ, my Lord. I praise you for overcoming death through Jesus' resurrection from the dead and sharing that victory with me. Thank you for reminding me each week of this victory as I greet each Sunday and remember the Lord's victory over death. In his name. Amen.
