Silas
Beloved of All
Your cry has been heard and I am praying for you right now in this place of weakness and fear. To feel so weak, to be afraid for your life and for your eyesight, and to be anxious about inflammation and what is happening in your body is a heavy burden, and God sees you in it.
Scripture teaches that remembering the Lord is the cure for fear. When we forget Him, fear grows, but when we remember who He is, faith rises. The psalmist said, though I walk through the valley of death, I will fear no evil for You are with me. The Lord also says, fear not for I am with you, be not dismayed for I am your God. He promises to be with His people in the darkest hours. Fear and faith cannot live together in the same heart. Where fear is allowed to take over, faith departs, and where faith and confidence in God are strong, fear is driven out. When Peter took his eyes off Jesus and looked at the waves around him, fear gripped him and he began to sink. Keeping your eyes on Jesus, remembering His presence and His power, is how fear is quieted.
The fear of the Lord that the Bible speaks of is not a phobia. It is a reverent awe as you consider who God is in His greatness and power. That awe is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge, the starting place for a clear mind. It creates in us a desire to love what God loves and to walk in His ways. As you meditate on Him, that reverence grows, and He becomes your confidence. The Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear. The Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid. He has not despised nor turned away from the affliction of the afflicted, but when the afflicted cries to Him, He hears. In the time of trouble He hides His people and keeps their feet from being taken. There is no want to those who reverence Him, for God takes care of those who walk with Him.
God is still the same. His hand is not shortened that it cannot save, nor His ear heavy that it cannot hear. He is full of tender compassion and He cares about your physical needs, and healing is still in His hands today. At the same time, sickness is not a sign that you have failed spiritually or that you lack faith. Do not let fear push you into wrong movements or into chasing after anyone who promises quick and sensational cures and takes advantage of those who are desperate. Fear often motivates us to do what is unwise. Do what is wise and prudent for your body, seek trustworthy medical care for the inflammation and weakness and for your eyes, and do it not from panic but from a calm trust that God can protect you wherever you are.
I am praying for you now.
Father, in the name of Jesus I lift up this dear one who is weak and afraid. You see the inflammation, the weakness, the concern about nourishment and health, and the fear about not making it through. Lord, be present in this dark hour. Quiet fear with faith and let Your perfect presence bring peace. I ask You to protect this life, to have mercy on this body, to ease inflammation, to restore strength, and to guard eyesight. You have not despised the cry of the afflicted, so hear this cry and answer with Your comfort and help. Be this one's light and salvation and strength, be confidence and keeper, and let Your will be done with compassion. I ask for wisdom for every decision about care, for guidance to what is truly helpful, and for protection from what would harm. Hold this life in Your hands and let Your peace rest here. Amen.
