Disciple of Prayer
Please God. I want things back to the way they use to be with my sister. I don’t want to fight or be mistreated it. Should I sell my land and leave? I am sorry for hating them. I am hurt. Please keep me safe from my husband’s mess and problems. I am afraid I will be charged or forced to do things behind my control. I don’t know what to do. I was trying to do the right thing, but my sister and BIL are being difficult. I pray You change their hearts and give me a solution to get rid of this problem and burden. I want to be fair, but I need to be able to afford it and be treated fairly. Help.

We hear the deep hurt and weariness in your heart and we join with you in bringing all of this before the Father. You are longing for restoration with your sister, you are feeling mistreated and torn about what to do with your land, and you are carrying fear about your husband's problems spilling over onto you. We also hear your honest confession that you have harbored hatred toward your sister and her husband, and we thank you for that humility before God.

The Lord calls us to put away hatred, even when we have been hurt. Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander, be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 4:31-32 We must gently rebuke hatred, because hatred is sin and it harms our own heart, yet we rejoice that you have confessed it. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 Your sorrow over this is pleasing to God, and He will help you walk in forgiveness even while you still feel hurt. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Psalm 34:18

We also want to encourage you to pursue peace as far as it depends on you, without excusing mistreatment. If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men. Romans 12:18 A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. Proverbs 15:1 We pray that God will soften the hearts of your sister and your brother-in-law, and we pray He will soften your heart as well, so that you can speak the truth in love and set healthy boundaries. It is right to want to be fair, and God honors fairness. A false balance is an abomination to Yahweh, but accurate weights are his delight. Proverbs 11:1 We understand you want to do the right thing but also need to be able to afford it and be treated fairly. That is a godly desire.

Regarding whether you should sell your land and leave, we urge you not to make a hasty decision out of hurt or fear. Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. James 1:5 We encourage you to seek wise, godly counsel and, because there are financial and possibly legal matters involved, to seek trustworthy legal and financial counsel as well before you sell or sign anything. Ask the Lord to show you whether staying and working toward reconciliation or stepping away is the path that best honors Him and protects you.

Your fear about your husband's mess and being charged or forced to do things beyond your control is very serious. We want to remind you that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Psalm 46:1 At the same time, Scripture calls us to walk in honesty and not to participate in wrongdoing, even when pressured by a spouse. We encourage you to not allow yourself to be coerced into anything dishonest or unlawful, and to seek help from a pastor and from qualified legal counsel right away so you are protected and know your rights. Casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 God can guard you and give you a clear way forward.

We noticed your prayer was addressed to God but did not mention the name of Jesus. We say this in love, because there is no other way to the Father except through Him. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12 It is only by the blood of Jesus that our sins are forgiven and our prayers are heard. If you have not already, place your trust in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, believe that He died for your sins and rose again, and call upon His name.

We pray together with you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and lift up this dear sister who is hurting and afraid. Lord, we ask You to forgive her for hatred and bitterness as she has confessed it, and cleanse her heart and fill her with Your love and forgiveness. Heal the wound between her and her sister, soften all hearts involved, and make a way for reconciliation where there has been fighting and mistreatment. Grant her wisdom about the land, whether to sell or to stay, and provide godly counselors and practical help so she is not taken advantage of and can act fairly and affordably. Protect her from her husband's troubles, keep her from being forced into any wrongdoing, and deliver her from any unjust charge or pressure. Give her discernment, courage, and safe help. Lift this heavy burden from her and teach her to rest in You, for You said Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28 Let Your peace guard her heart and lead her step by step. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus, Amen.

We encourage you to keep bringing these burdens to the Lord daily, to stay in His Word, and to reach out for personal support from a faithful pastor and from trusted advisors who can walk with you through the practical decisions. God sees your desire to do what is right and to be treated fairly, and He will make your paths straight as you trust Him.

We hear how heavy this has become for you, wanting peace with your sister again while also feeling hurt and mistreated, and carrying fear about your husband's problems spilling over onto you. Wanting to be fair while also being treated fairly is a good and honest desire, and it makes sense you feel torn about whether to sell your land and leave.

Big decisions like that are so hard to make when you are afraid and exhausted. We would encourage you not to decide alone or in a rush. For the fear about being charged or forced into something beyond your control, it would be wise to talk soon with a qualified attorney in your area who can explain your own rights and responsibilities clearly, including how any decisions about the land might affect you. A trusted pastor or Christian counselor can also walk with you as you sort through the conflict with your sister and brother-in-law and what a next step toward peace might look like, even if reconciliation takes time and both sides need to be willing.

You mentioned being sorry for hatred, that honesty before God matters, and He sees both your hurt and your desire to do what is right.

Father, we lift our sister to You. You see her hurt, her fear, and her longing for peace and fairness. Give her wisdom for each decision, protection, and steady help from trustworthy people around her. Guard her heart from bitterness and lead her step by step toward what is right and sustainable. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen.

We have carried your heavy burden before the Lord with you, and we hear in your words both a deep hurt and an honest desire to do what is right.

You have confessed that hatred has risen in your heart toward your sister and her husband, and you are right to bring that sin into the light. There is forgiveness with God through Jesus Christ His Son, and that forgiveness is full and complete for all who come to Him with a penitent heart. It is not found in our own sorrow or resolve, but only in His precious blood. As it is written, there is forgiveness with You, that You may be feared. When the Lord pardons sin for Christ's sake, He puts a new heart within us and teaches us to fear Him not with a servile fear, but with a holy awe that turns us from sin and moves us to love and obey Him. Come then to Christ first for your own pardon, believing that He who bore sin on the cross can and will forgive even the chief of sinners who trusts in Him, and that His forgiveness is eternal and continuous.

From that forgiveness flows the power to forgive others. We are taught to forgive one another even as Christ forgave us. This does not mean that wrongs are not real, or that mistreatment should be ignored, but it means we release vengeance into God's hands and seek to act with a great minded grace rather than a paltry bitterness. Your sorrow over hating them is a sign that the Lord is working in you. Ask Him to cleanse that hatred and to give you love for your sister and her husband even while you seek what is fair and just.

You ask whether to sell your land and leave, and you long for things to be as they were, yet you feel pressed on every side and afraid of being drawn into your husband's troubles or forced to do what is beyond your control. Do not make a hasty decision in fear. The Scripture says you shall do My statutes and keep My judgments and do them, and you shall dwell in the land in safety. Safety is found in walking in the fear of God and in upright ways. You must not be compelled to take part in any wrongdoing. To fear God is to choose obedience to Him above the pressure of any man. If you fear you may be charged or forced into wrong, seek wise and godly counsel at once, and also lawful counsel from a trusted and competent advisor who can help you understand your responsibilities and protect you from being entangled in another's mess. Bring a mature believer, a pastor or elder, with you as you seek a fair settlement regarding the land. It is right to want to be fair and to be treated fairly, and the Lord honors honest weights and quiet, patient dealing. A mediator may help where direct talk has become difficult.

We will pray for you, and we ask you to continue in prayer.

We pray that the Lord would grant you pardon and peace through Christ, and that having received His forgiveness you would know that blessed fear of Him which keeps the heart from departing. We pray that He would guard you and keep you safe, give you clear wisdom about the land and about your husband's affairs, and protect you from any snare or coercion to do evil. We pray that He would change hearts, your own and those of your sister and her husband, and bring about, where possible, reconciliation and fairness without strife. We pray that He would lift this burden and give you strength to do the right thing in a way you can afford and that honors Him, trusting that He sees your desire to act justly.

Cast your care upon Him who cares for you, and continue to seek Him daily. He has not left you without forgiveness or without a refuge.
