Please help me stop worrying and thinking about these people and problems. Help me accept their behavior and not take it personally. Help shield and protect me. Uplift me. Use me.

We hear your cry for peace and protection, and we lift you up before the throne of grace. The weight of carrying others’ behaviors and problems can feel crushing, but Scripture reminds us, "Cast all your worries on him, because he cares for you." (1 Peter 5:7 WEB) You are not meant to bear these burdens alone, God invites you to release them into His hands.

First, we must address the importance of surrendering these concerns to the Lord. Worrying about people and problems that are beyond your control is a form of idolatry, it places your focus on circumstances rather than on God’s sovereignty. Jesus Himself warned, "Therefore I tell you, don’t be anxious for your life: what you will eat, or what you will drink; nor yet for your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food, and the body more than clothing?" (Matthew 6:25 WEB) If the Creator of the universe cares for the birds of the air and the lilies of the field, how much more does He care for you? Trusting Him means believing that He is working all things together for your good, even when you cannot see it (Romans 8:28).

We also rebuke the spirit of offense that seeks to take root in your heart. When others behave in ways that hurt or confuse you, it is easy to internalize their actions as a reflection of your worth. But Scripture tells us, "A man’s heart plans his course, but the Lord directs his steps." (Proverbs 16:9 WEB) Their behavior is not about you, it is about the condition of their own hearts and their walk with God. You are called to forgive as you have been forgiven (Colossians 3:13) and to entrust justice to the Lord (Romans 12:19). This does not mean you must condone sinful behavior, but it does mean you release the need to control or change it.

To shield and protect you, we pray that God would surround you with His presence like a fortress. "The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower." (Psalm 18:2 WEB) Ask Him to place a hedge of protection around your mind, guarding your thoughts from dwelling on what you cannot change. Fill your mind instead with what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and admirable (Philippians 4:8). When anxious thoughts arise, combat them with Scripture, speak God’s promises aloud and declare His truth over your life.

We also pray for your uplifting. The enemy would love to keep you weighed down, but God desires to lift you up. "Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time; casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you." (1 Peter 5:6-7 WEB) You are a child of the King, and He has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Walk in the confidence of who you are in Christ, chosen, beloved, and called for a purpose.

And yes, we pray that God would use you mightily. A heart that is surrendered to Him is a heart that He can work through. "If anyone serves me, let him follow me. Where I am, there my servant will also be. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him." (John 12:26 WEB) Do not let the distractions of others’ behaviors or problems hinder your calling. Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness (Matthew 6:33), and He will direct your steps.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our dear brother/sister, lifting up their heart to You. Lord, You see the weight they have been carrying, the worries, the offenses, the need to control what is not theirs to control. We ask that You would break the chains of anxiety and fear that have bound them. Teach them to cast every care upon You, for You care deeply for them.

Father, we rebuke the spirit of offense and ask that You would heal any wounds in their heart. Help them to see others through Your eyes, to extend grace as You have extended grace to them. Shield their mind from dwelling on what they cannot change, and fill them instead with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).

Protect them, Lord. Surround them with Your angels, and let Your presence be their refuge. Uplift them when they feel weary, reminding them of their identity in Christ. Use them for Your glory, Lord, let their life be a testament to Your faithfulness and love.

We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the name above all names, the only name by which we can come to You. Without Jesus, we have no access to Your throne, no salvation, and no hope. But through Him, we are made new, and we stand before You as beloved children. Thank You for the gift of Your Son, and thank You for hearing our prayer. Amen.

We hear how exhausting this feels, carrying other people's problems in your mind until your own peace is completely used up. That cycle of worry and taking things personally is a heavy weight, and we're sorry you've been under it.

One thing that sometimes helps in a situation like this is getting clearer on where your responsibility actually ends and theirs begins. You care deeply, and that's a gift, but caring doesn't mean absorbing every reaction as though it says something about you. Other people's behavior is often more about their own inner tangle than it is about you. There is real freedom in being able to stay connected to someone while still saying in your own heart, "This belongs to them, not to me." It's not coldness; it's the necessary property line that lets you love without drowning. That instinct you expressed for God to "use" you is sincere, but being usable starts with you being well. You can't pour out from an empty, shredded place. Protection and boundaries aren't the opposite of service, they're what make sustained, genuine service possible.

One small step might be this: the next time worry about a particular person flares up, pause and ask yourself one question before you spin out, "Am I trying to carry something here that only God can carry?" Then, in your mind, intentionally hand it back to Him and refocus on what's in front of you. It's a practice, not a one-time fix, but it can slowly rewire those worn mental pathways.

We're praying with you now: Lord Jesus, we ask for a real shield around this one who is worn down by the weight of others' struggles. Quiet the racing thoughts and give them a deep, settled peace that doesn't depend on anyone else's choices. Help them know the difference between loving someone and carrying what only You can carry. Protect their heart and mind, and let them rest secure in Your care tonight. Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The eternal purpose of God stands fast against all the fretting of men. From the time when Satan fell, God's purpose was to break down everything which set itself up in opposition to him. Consider this: the things that vex your soul, the behaviour of others that wounds you, the problems that loom in your mind, these are not outside the sweep of his decree. The low tree, fostered by the husbandman, shall mount even to the stars; the high tree, cut down by the axe of judgment, shall lay outstretched along the plains of ruin forever. Cease, then, from the weary work of trying to manage outcomes or to fulfill God's decrees yourself. It is no business of yours, as it is no business of ours, to attempt such a thing. Lay that burden down.

You ask for a shield and protection. The high and heavenly joys of the divine life shall be denied you if you work at a distance from your God. But if you stay close to him, you shall have the finest of the wheat, and you shall be satisfied with honey out of the rock. The token of your perfect security is the blood of Jesus, a token of divine love in giving the Well-Beloved to die for you, a token that justice has had its due, a token that you are perfectly secure forever. Hide yourself there, and the sharp arrows of personal affront will lose their sting. What are the slights of men when the eternal love of God has been shed abroad in your heart? The fact is, there are but few acts of divine providence to individuals which can definitely be declared to be judgments. Do not take the unkindness so personally, as if God had singled you out for a peculiar trial. Comfort based upon the suppression of truth is worse than useless, but there is true consolation here: in Christ Jesus the stream of divine love flows freely, swiftly, richly to the worst of men, and surely to you.

Uplift me, you cry. Look well to the little grace you fear you have lost. Small as grace may be in the heart, it is divine, it is a spark from the ever-blazing sun! Being divine, it is immortal. Do not despise the grace that God has given you, but bless God for it, and prove your value of the little by earnestly seeking after more. The whole resources of the Godhead go forth with spontaneous delight for the salvation of those who turn from their sin. Among the highest of the divine joys is the pleasure of seeing a sinner look to him. It gives God a divine pleasure to see the first grain of mustard seed of faith in a poor, turning sinner's heart. Oh, believe the words of my text: "He will be very gracious unto thee at the voice of thy cry." That cry itself, that very feeling that you are unloved or useless, might be a work of divine grace, for if you begin to be in love with the mercy of God, it is because the mercy of God is in love with you.

Use me. That is a noble petition. Perhaps you have been brought to this precise state for a great purpose which has never dawned upon you. I scarcely know what, some high and holy purpose which you have been brought up to this point to accomplish. Let us not question the promise because of our personal deadness and inability, but believe God without wavering, for he hath said, “My grace is sufficient for thee.” Faith has a great power of reception, and therein lies much of her adaptation to the divine purpose. Your very emptiness fits you to receive. Oh, poor soul, mercy is to be had for the asking. Let this hour mark an end to your condemning yourself. Lift the standard of the divine promise once more. Be encouraged; there are no more difficulties now than there were of old. In Christ Jesus, the One Man who is the pattern of all ministries which are of God, your life is hidden and your usefulness is secured. Let this day be unto you as the beginning of days, and from now on you shall delight yourselves in the abundance of peace.

You seek a shield from the sting of others' actions, a way to stop the mind from gnawing on their troubles. You ask not to take their behavior personally. The root of this suffering lies in a peace you seek from men, a calm that depends on them changing. That peace is fleeting, a house built on sand. When you demand that others act justly so you can be serene, you hand them the keys to your own soul. If they fail, your peace crumbles. This is not the peace Christ left. He said plainly that His peace is not as the world gives. The world’s peace comes from revenge, from suffering no dreadful ill. Christ’s peace is a different kind, one that renders you stronger, and it rules in the heart when two thoughts are at war. When you are insulted, a thought rises up for revenge, and another for endurance. They wrestle. Do not let anger or contentiousness be the umpire. Let the peace of God stand forward. It gives the prize to the thought that bids you endure, because it persuades you that God Himself is Peace and that He made peace with you out of His own will, asking nothing in return.

Your worry over these people and problems is often a form of immoderate love or, perhaps more truly, a passion disguised as care. When the mind seizes upon the faults of others and replays them, it is pluming itself on a sense of injury, and this is a tyranny of vain-glory. The ambitious soul, when it clings to its right to be offended, is fed by a perverse pleasure. To be carnally minded in this way is death; it is to name the grosser motion of the mind from the inferior part. But to be spiritually minded is life and peace. You ask to be uplifted and used. Then you must master this inner swarm of evil thoughts. They are bred within the heart, and when they go forth in brooding and suspicion, they defile you more than any external act done to you. The things that enter from without cannot defile the soul; it is the thoughts that proceed out, the resentment, the replaying of wrongs, that stain it.

Consider the craft of agriculture. In a field, you find roughness and weakness, plants that luxuriate to the harm of their neighbors and others that are injured. A wise farmer does not rage at the weeds for being weeds. He tends to what he can control. People who wrong you are like famished wild beasts; if virtue is not in them, they cannot have peace even among themselves. Do not marvel that they act according to their nature. Why should their turbulence trouble your inner calm? You ask for a shield. The true shield is to stop expecting from thornbushes the fruit of the vine. When others plotted against the Lord, questioning Him with hatred, He did not always rebuke them. He bore many things with meekness and gentleness, teaching us not to always confront those who scheme against us. Imitate this. The affront is permitted so that a spiritual mind might master it, putting the unruly thought to shame.

How then are you to be used? By becoming a haven. Since the wicked cannot be at peace with one another, it falls to the just and good to stand between them, lest the whole race of them be torn to pieces. You are to be that steady presence, not by absorbing their poison, but by being so fixed in the peace of God that your stillness reproves their tempest. Go frequently to the hearing of the Divine words and to the assemblies and prayers. The Church is a spiritual bath that wipes away not filth of body, but these very stains of soul. There, the earth of your heart is tilled, and the discourse of a resurrection is made clear: that which is dead in you, patience, forbearance, a quiet mind, can be born over again. Let the bond of peace hold the prize in your heart, and you will find that what you thought was a burden to be endured is actually the very ground where God cultivates His life in you.
