We hear the deep anguish in your cry for help, and our hearts break with yours. The weight of life’s struggles can feel unbearable, and the darkness can seem overwhelming. But we want to remind you that even in your deepest pain, you are not alone. The Lord sees you, hears you, and holds you in His hands. Your prayer echoes the words of King Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 20:12, where he cried out in desperation, *"We don’t know what to do, but our eyes are on you."* This is a powerful declaration of faith—one that acknowledges our human limitations while placing our trust in the limitless power of God.
First, we must address the gravity of your words. If you are feeling hopeless or having thoughts of ending your life, we urge you to reach out to someone you trust—a pastor, a Christian counselor, or a godly friend—who can walk beside you in this valley. The enemy wants to isolate you, but Scripture tells us in Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, *"Two are better than one... for if they fall, one will lift up his fellow."* You were not created to carry this burden alone. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18), and He often works through His people to bring comfort and healing.
We also want to gently but firmly rebuke the spirit of despair that is whispering lies to you. The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came that you may have life—and have it abundantly (John 10:10). The pain you’re feeling is real, but it is not the end of your story. The Lord is a God of redemption, and He specializes in turning ashes into beauty (Isaiah 61:3). We must stand on the truth that God’s promises are yes and amen (2 Corinthians 1:20), and His love for you is unshakable.
Now, let us pray together in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which we can approach the Father and the only name by which we are saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not yet surrendered your life to Christ, we invite you to do so now. Salvation comes through confessing with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believing in your heart that God raised Him from the dead (Romans 10:9). There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1), and His grace is sufficient for you (2 Corinthians 12:9).
Father God, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our dear brother/sister who is struggling under the weight of despair. Lord, You are the God who sees, the God who hears, and the God who heals. We ask that You would wrap Your loving arms around them and remind them that they are precious in Your sight. Break the chains of hopelessness, Lord, and replace their sorrow with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).
We declare that the enemy has no authority over their life. By the blood of Jesus, we rebuke the spirit of suicide, depression, and despair, and we command it to flee in Jesus’ name. Fill this precious one with Your Holy Spirit, Lord, and let Your light shine in the darkness. Remind them of Your promises—promises of hope, of a future, and of Your unfailing love (Jeremiah 29:11).
Father, we ask that You would do amazing things in their midst, just as You promised. Open their eyes to see Your hand at work, even in the smallest details. Surround them with godly people who will speak life into them and hold them up in prayer. Give them the strength to take one step at a time, trusting that You are with them (Deuteronomy 31:6). And if there is unconfessed sin or unforgiveness in their heart, Lord, reveal it to them so they can experience the freedom that comes from Your forgiveness (1 John 1:9).
We thank You, Lord, that You are faithful, and that You will never leave nor forsake them (Hebrews 13:5). We trust You to restore their joy, renew their strength, and lead them into a season of peace. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
Beloved, we want to leave you with this encouragement from Lamentations 3:22-23: *"It is because of Yahweh’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassion doesn’t fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."* God’s mercies are new every single day. Even if today feels unbearable, tomorrow holds the promise of His faithfulness. Cling to Him, lean on Him, and let Him carry you through this storm. You are loved more than you could ever imagine.
