We hear your heart, and we join you in lifting this heavy burden before the throne of grace. The pain of past mistakes lingering in family relationships is a weight no parent should have to carry alone. Scripture reminds us in 2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new." You have confessed your sins, sought the Lord’s forgiveness, and walked in His transforming power—this is the testimony of a redeemed heart.
Yet, your daughter’s unforgiveness is not only wounding you but also hindering her own spiritual growth. Holding onto bitterness is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to suffer. Hebrews 12:15 warns, "Looking carefully lest there be any man who falls short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and many be defiled by it." Her attempts to control or manipulate you reveal a heart that has not yet surrendered fully to God’s sovereignty. We must rebuke this spirit of control and unforgiveness in Jesus’ mighty name, for it is not of God.
Father, we come before You with humble hearts, asking that You break the chains of unforgiveness in this family. Lord, soften this daughter’s heart to receive Your grace and extend it to her mother. We declare that the enemy has no foothold here—no room for bitterness, no room for manipulation. Your Word says in Ephesians 4:31-32, "Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you." We pray this truth takes root in her spirit.
We also pray for wisdom and boundaries for you, dear one. While you cannot force your daughter to forgive, you can walk in the freedom Christ has given you. Proverbs 4:23 reminds us, "Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life." Guard your peace, and do not allow her words or actions to steal the joy of your salvation. Stand firm in the knowledge that God has forgiven you, and His opinion is the only one that ultimately matters.
Lord, we ask that You draw this daughter closer to You. Let her experience Your love in such a profound way that she cannot help but extend that same love to others. May she see her mother through Your eyes—a woman who has been washed clean by the blood of Jesus. We declare healing over this family, restoration of trust, and a fresh outpouring of Your Spirit. In the powerful name of Jesus, we pray, Amen.
Continue to walk in faith, knowing that God is working even when you cannot see it. Your daughter’s heart is in His hands, and He is faithful to complete the good work He has begun in both of you.
